Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: The Hatching of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion

Chapter 77: The Hatching of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion

Ning Bei bid farewell to the grandfather and granddaughter, heading straight back to the sect.

After releasing the purple little snake, he looked at it.

The small eyes showed a hint of confusion, as it didn't know where it was.

After looking around for a moment, it spotted Ning Bei in front of it. The little snake coiled into a ball, shrinking back, seemingly wary of Ning Bei.

Ning Bei didn't mind, directly placing the Dan Tower in front of the little creature.

The little snake's eyes never left the Dan Tower again.

A few seconds later, it coiled its body around the tower and began flicking its tongue, making a "hiss hiss" sound.

Ning Bei nodded with satisfaction. His Dan Tower had never failed with a soul beast.

"From now on, you'll live in here, okay?"

Soul beasts raised by Danxiang Essence seemed to have a higher intelligence compared to others of the same period. Perhaps Medusa-type soul beasts were naturally highly intelligent. After Ning Bei spoke, the little snake hurriedly nodded, afraid he might change his mind.

Thus, Ning Bei's Dan Tower gained a new occupant.

He thought about the graceful figure from the neighboring continent and had a slight sense of anticipation. Once Medusa reached 10,000 years of cultivation, and he gave her the shape-shifting elixir, wouldn't that mean he would have another queen to contend with?

Half a year later, the giant egg, nurtured in Ning Bei's Dan Tower for a long time, finally began to show signs of life.

Ning Bei's heart fluttered slightly. He gently sensed the egg's cultivation and discovered that the previously negative cultivation of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion had now grown to zero.

This meant the little lion was about to hatch.

He took the egg out from the Dan Tower and placed it on the ground. Ning Bei eagerly watched as the egg began to slightly shake. Soon, he would be able to give Ah Bao and the others a double experience card.

As time passed, the shaking of the egg grew more intense. The first crack silently appeared on the shell, followed by a second and third crack. Before long, the shell was covered in cracks.

Some of the cracked sections started moving up and down, indicating the little creature was almost ready to hatch.

After a while, a "crack" sound was heard as a piece of the shell fell away, revealing an eye. The gaze was full of confusion as it curiously stared at Ning Bei.

Ning Bei poked at the remaining shell. "Little one, don't just stare, come out."

As if understanding Ning Bei's words, the eye closed slightly, and the shell began to shake violently.

A few seconds later, a creature resembling a lion but with dragon claws, golden all over with a third vertical eye on its forehead, appeared in front of Ning Bei.

The little beast saw him and, like a puppy, stuck out its tongue, then used its four small paws to toddle over to Ning Bei's side, rubbing its little face against his leg.

Ning Bei, seeing this, joyfully picked up the Three-Eyed Golden Lion. It was only as big as a puppy at birth.

"Wow, this little guy is really hot to the touch."

Each of the little beast's four paws had a trace of golden flame. Ning Bei understood that this was extreme fire, but since the little guy had just been born and wasn't very strong yet, the flames only made Ning Bei feel warm.

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion wasn't afraid when Ning Bei held it. It licked his face with its tongue, making Ning Bei laugh happily.

After a while, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion wagged its long tail, slightly struggling, as if wanting Ning Bei to put it down.

Ning Bei, confused, placed it back on the ground.

"What do you want to do, little one?"

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion grumbled a bit, then turned and walked toward its shell. It opened its mouth and swallowed the entire shell, licking its lips afterward in satisfaction.

"Wow, even an emperor beast eats its own eggshells?"

That wasn't the end of it. After devouring the eggshell, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion's aura surged, and Ning Bei estimated that, in just this short time, it had reached nearly a hundred years of cultivation. He couldn't help but marvel.

After finishing, the little creature ran back to Ning Bei's legs and rubbed them, then opened its mouth, one paw on its stomach, looking at him with its big, watery eyes.

"Wait, you're still hungry?"

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion nodded and continued looking at Ning Bei expectantly.

"Alright, you're quite the little foodie. But my Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School is all about abundance, so eat as much as you want."

Soon, Ning Bei had Xiao Tao prepare some fine soul beast meat and brought it to the room.

The little beast eyed the food, drooling, and without waiting for Ning Bei's instructions, began eating. Its head was completely buried in the plate.

Watching the Three-Eyed Golden Lion gobbling down the food, Ning Bei smiled contentedly, feeling a bit like the head of a zoo.

Not wanting to disturb the little one, Ning Bei called out Da Ming and Er Ming from the sixth floor of the Dan Tower.

The two looked at him, puzzled.

"Ning Bei, is something wrong?"

Hearing Da Ming's question, Ning Bei glanced at the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, still eating.

"Feel the aura of this little one."

"Eh?"

Da Ming and Er Ming remained confused. What could there possibly be in such a small creature that was worth their attention?

Da Ming closed his eyes and felt the aura of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion. Then he immediately opened his eyes, shocked, and stared at Ning Bei.

"This... this is such a powerful force of destiny! It's as if it's born to be the king of soul beasts, and it seems to have a great benefit for us."

Er Ming also opened his eyes, his shock matching Da Ming's.

"You're right. This is the Emperor Beast, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion. It's born to be the king of soul beasts and can double the cultivation speed of soul beasts, as well as significantly increase the success rate of soul beasts surviving the tribulation."

"Really?"

"Is this true, Ning Bei?"

Ning Bei nodded, confirming their suspicions.

"You two will find out for yourselves. I'll put it in the sixth floor later. Please take care of it when you can."

Both beasts nodded, agreeing that they would see for themselves.

After sending Da Ming and Er Ming back to the Dan Tower, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion was nearly done eating.

While eating, it raised its hind legs in the air, its tail wagging continuously, clearly in a good mood.

After finishing its meal, the little one lay on its back with its four paws in the air, burping contentedly.

Ning Bei walked up and poked its round belly, causing it to twitch, as if it was a bit ticklish.

"You can't finish it all, just leave it. Don't shove everything in at once. You might be the first Emperor Beast to die from overeating. See if you don't get embarrassed."

Ning Bei decided not to change the little one's name. It would be called Qiu'er, and it didn't need a surname. If anything, it would follow Ning Bei's surname.

After eating, Qiu'er played around with Ning Bei for a bit, then started yawning. Before long, it lay down on the floor and started snoring.

Ning Bei picked up the small creature, shaking his head as he looked at it.

"Finish eating and go to sleep. You're more like a Three-Eyed Golden Pig."

Qiu'er seemed to sense Ning Bei's teasing, kicking its back legs toward his chest before falling silent again.
