"Okay, that's enough of that!" Yuri burst through the silence. "We don't know what we are dealing with, so let it stay that way!"
Kagami raised his hand to object. "But grandmother—" Yuri quickly placed a finger on Kagami's mouth. "No!" she spoke sternly, glaring directly at him.
"Kagami, I know you are curious, but after what happened today, you should learn that sometimes your curiosity will get you into serious trouble." Yuri stood up, dusting the dust off her dress. "I want not another word of this, and do not even think about doing that again, understand?"
Kagami reluctantly sighed and nodded his head. "Good, now back to training!" Yuri's attitude immediately shifted, a smile firmly planted on her face as if nothing had happened. She walked elegantly back to the picnic blanket, which was somehow unharmed during the whole debacle.
The four of them watched her as if she'd grown an extra head. "You know, despite... all that," Tsuyoshi gestured to Yuri sitting down peacefully, "she has a point."
Toshinori nodded his head in agreement. "Yes, Aunty Hoshino is correct, young ones," he turned to address the two boys. "Sometimes it's better to leave the unknown alone. You never know what you'll unleash."
The two nodded. "Yes, All Might."
"Now let's get back to training!" Tsuyoshi smiled, changing the mood.
"Yes!" Midoriya responded excitedly.
Kagami put his hand up. "Absolutely not!" The three looked at him, surprised. "Eh?"
Kagami folded his arms, glaring at Toshinori and Tsuyoshi. "You two are incompetent teachers!" A vein appeared on Tsuyoshi's forehead at that comment. "Oi! What did you say about your grandpa? I was a professional hero back in my day, the best even, and I was even a teacher at A.U. for some time!"
"I can see all that means nothing in the grand scheme of things," Kagami blankly stated. "If you were half as good as you say you are, then why was Izuku's arm broken?"
"Young Midoriya's body is still too weak to handle the full force of One For All," Toshinori interjected.
"Then why didn't you two teach him how to use a small amount of One For All?"
The two were silent, not knowing what to say. Kagami facepalmed at them. "Oh my stars, you two really are hopeless." He stood up, pointing an accusatory finger at them. "You can't expect him to use an extremely powerful quirk that you use in your hero form when he's one third your size!"
Anyone watching this scene would find it strange, seeing a teenager scolding two fully grown men for their stupidity. "Forcing a young child to endure the strain of a powerful quirk without properly teaching him to control it is idiotic in and of itself!"
Kagami turned to Izuku. "My apologies, Izuku. It seems I put all my trust in two idiots. I should have known better." He gave the two older men a quick side-eye before turning his attention back to Izuku. "From now on, I'll be supervising your training to ensure this never happens again."
"Okay, Izuku, I want you to use One For All for me, but this time don't release your energy—just think of activating the quirk." Izuku was confused about what this was for but agreed. "Ah, okay!"
Kagami held out his hand, gesturing for Izuku to do the same. "I just want to get a better sense of what's going on so I can understand it better." Izuku nodded, placing his hand with Kagami's.
Kagami closed his eyes, focusing on Izuku's aura. All seemed normal at first until he noticed all of Izuku's aura flowing to his arm.
"I see the problem now." Kagami opened his eyes and let go of Izuku's hand. "Grandmother! He did it again!"
Yuri sighed. "Tsuyoshi, not again!"
Tsuyoshi flinched nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "Oh, come on, you two, you know that's how I learned to use my quirk."
"Since you trained All Might, I'll take a guess you taught him the same way?" Kagami questioned, glaring at both Toshinori and Tsuyoshi.
"W-well, it worked, didn't it!?" Tsuyoshi pointed at All Might. "He's the number one Pro, so my training is a guaranteed foolproof plan."
"Except that it is not." Kagami pinched the bridge of his nose. Izuku stared at everyone, confused.
"Uh, Kagami?" Izuku spoke up. "What's going on?"
Kagami let out a sigh.
He walked to the other side of the training grounds, retrieving a whiteboard. He rolled it back to where he was standing, took out a marker, and began drawing. He drew a human body, split it in half, and named the right side K&I.
"Okay, so this is us," he pointed at Izuku and himself. He then named the left side T&Y. "And this is them." He then drew a shared heart and veins all throughout the body.
"Now imagine both are filled with energy. The second has an incredibly durable layer yet has limited control. This means that they fight by calling all their power to one singular part of their body since they have limited control over it. And since their bodies are durable, they don't have to worry about recoil."
"However, then there is us. We have incredible control, but our layer is not as durable, meaning if we use the same method as them, our bodies will break. This can be prevented by using our power in smaller amounts evenly throughout our bodies."
"In conclusion, you can't fight the way they do—you'll just hurt yourself instead. I learned the same way when Grandfather tried to teach me about aura when I was young." He glared at Tsuyoshi.
"How was I supposed to know your arm would break?" Tsuyoshi defended himself.
"Well, if there is one thing that came out of that experience, it is that I learned how to heal through aura by analyzing how different my aura was after the injury." Kagami then pointed at the shared heart. "Luckily, both of our quirks seem to use the heart as a medium to distribute energy, and our veins also assist with this distribution."
"If you want to use your quirk without tearing yourself apart, you will have to distribute your energy throughout your body evenly instead of in one place." He pointed to Izuku. "And that concludes our lesson. Any questions?"
"How do I distribute the energy?" Izuku had somehow been writing down this entire explanation in his notebook.
"Well, I just think of it as a lake with many paths leading out of it. However, I can do that because I sense aura—you need to find your own analogy." Kagami cleaned the board and returned it to its place.
Izuku stared at his hand, mumbling different things out loud.
Tsuyoshi raised an eyebrow. "Does he always do this?"
Toshinori and Kagami shared a look and both sighed. "Pretty much."
"Okay, Izuku, you can think about that later. Right now, let's eat something—I'm starving." Kagami shook Izuku out of his trance, and they all headed to Yuri.
They all sat down and ate. Yuri, Toshinori, and Izuku all ate regular meals; however, Tsuyoshi and Kagami ate what could only be described as sugary carb hell.
The entire meal was basically a dessert with rice and meat as a side dish. "I see young Kagami has the same side effect as Sensei," Toshinori said, turning to Yuri, who quietly sipped her tea.
Izuku pondered for a moment. "Side effect?"
Yuri put down her tea. "Yes. Because of the nature of their quirks, they have to consume large amounts of sugar and carbohydrates just to function."
Kagami paused his eating. "Our bodies consume sugar and carbohydrates to use as energy for our quirks, and since our quirks can't be turned off normally like other emitter quirks, without it we would constantly be tired and eventually die."
"You'll die!" Izuku panicked.
"Calm down. That will only happen if we don't get enough energy for at least a week," Kagami waved his worries away and continued to feast.
After a few hours of Izuku trying, and failing, to use One For All, it was finally time for the two guests to leave.
The family of three waved goodbye, but not before Yuri gave Izuku a gift for his mother.
"My, that was exhilarating, wasn't it?" Yuri smiled as she walked back inside.
"You can say that again," Tsuyoshi laughed, following her to the living room.
Kagami sighed and headed to his room. "I'll be in my room if anyone needs me!"
When he arrived at his room, he sat at his desk and took out his laptop.
He opened a folder named "Quirks." Inside were the files: Aura Balance, Empath, Aura Break, Construct, Restore, Aura Restoration, Emotion Construct, Explosion, One For All.
He pressed on the newest one, One For All, and began typing.
