I wake up, my head throbbing like someone was driving a jackhammer to my skull. The pain is blinding, a physical echo of the devastation inside me.
All I can think about is Tyr.
My mind is haunted by the memory of Tyr leaving me, her silhouette walking away down the hallway. Her voice plays on a loop in the darkness of my room, telling me that she wanted a divorce, telling me that she didn't want me.
My heart is torn to shreds. It feels visceral, like Tyr had grabbed my heart and sunk her fingers in the flesh before tearing it apart. It hurts so much. It is like my soul was torn apart, leaving a gaping, bleeding void in my chest where she used to be.
My gaze is in a daze and my mind foggy, floating between consciousness and the nightmare of reality.
"Tyr," I call out, my voice a cracked whisper.
Suddenly I hear a familiar voice say, "You know she is not here."
It is Amelia.
