Chapter 25— Lilith POV
Groaning in deep pain, I staggered backward, clutching a nearby tree as my back slid down to the ground.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, I slowly lifted my head to find Maverick approaching. His sleeves were torn. Upon seeing me, his nostrils flared. He quickly rushed forward, kneeling in front of me as he tore my shirt.
"What happened?" he questioned. "I couldn't find you in the car, so I followed your scent here."
Breathing heavily, I wanted to rip at my skin and pull the claws out. When his eyes fell on the dead rogue, a deep frown formed on his face.
"I told you to stay back."
"And you really thought I would listen to you?" I glared back, cursing under my breath. "Just fucking take the claws out of me."
Once the skin around the wound was open, Maverick took a deep breath. His claws began to extend slowly. His muscles tightened.
Then without warning, he plunged in. I bit my lip, looking away as I felt his claws pull out the rogue's poisoned claw.
