However, Cortana informed Dane that most of the Justice League members had already spontaneously gone to other cities for disaster relief; not a single member was truly safe and sound in their own city.
"They're all restless souls."
Dane understood them. Even though he had explained beforehand that everything could be reset, they still couldn't bear to see the suffering of the populace.
This hero complex was a common psychological phenomenon in the superhero World, but what surprised Dane was that even Batman had mobilized.
He distinctly remembered that the Dark Knight's heart could be terrifyingly cold when necessary.
"It seems my heart is the hardest and coldest in the Justice League," Dane mused.
Cortana materialized from the void, standing beside him and gently saying: "Of course you're not like that, Dane."
Dane just smiled. He wasn't actually that sentimental, but he still enjoyed the feeling of being cared for.
"Where did Zatanna and the others go?"
Cortana brought up the satellite positioning: "Satellite map shows they are currently in Central City."
Oh? The city where Flash Barry is located.
The time for him to become Flash should be approaching.
"Huh? Mera is there too?"
Dane saw Mera's icon on the map. How did she end up acting with the Birds of Prey?
Cortana explained to him that Mera was restless and didn't enjoy the entertainment of the Surface, so she could only relieve her boredom in this way.
Good heavens, you should be in Amazon!
"Dane, satellite has detected an unidentified flying object appearing in outer space, targeting Earth!"
Cortana finished speaking and quickly switched the screen. In the satellite image, something shaped like a meteor had already broken through the atmosphere.
Its target was Philadelphia!
"Superman has already gone to deal with it," Cortana added.
Even before Cortana alerted him, Clark had already seen the meteor from outer space with his own eyes and calculated its landing point.
Seeing that Metropolis had not suffered a Demon attack like other cities, he decided to leave for a while and first help the people of Philadelphia solve the meteor problem.
So, when the meteor plunged into the atmosphere, Clark had already flown into Philadelphia's airspace, hovering in front of the meteor.
"Is that a bird?"
"No, is that a plane?"
"That's Superman!"
The people of Philadelphia were excited; so far, they had not encountered a Demon attack.
The United States was still very large, and Shabak needed to be busy for a while.
As the meteor drew closer, Clark broke the sound barrier and shot upwards, throwing a punch the instant he neared the meteor.
The combined speeds of the two created astonishing kinetic energy; the meteor rapidly shattered from Clark's fist as its center, and countless fist-sized fragments scattered like blooming flowers, falling towards Philadelphia.
Clark didn't pay much attention to it, because at that altitude, those stones would mostly burn up and turn into harmless small grains of sand upon landing.
But that was under normal circumstances.
In Philadelphia, a figure who had once appeared in The Pentagon looked up at the sky, as if he could see the countless scattered small stones through the clouds.
Those were not actually true meteors, but "parasite" nests, merely disguised as meteors.
Superman's power was indeed very strong; that punch probably eliminated more than half of the "parasites," but countless of their kind still survived.
And they were about to be reborn in this city.
As he had predicted, those "meteors" landed on Philadelphia and quickly spread throughout the entire city.
The "parasites," with an average individual weight of less than ten grams, were too small to be seen with the naked eye.
Many Philadelphians were possessed without knowing anything, their consciousness instantly stripped away by these creatures.
There were many such people, but they all quietly occupied human bodies without making a sound, so for a time, no one discovered their abnormality.
In the sky, Clark was pleased with his results; he had solved another crisis.
However, the air warped, and a phantom appeared before him—it was Dane.
"Clark, what you did this time was a bit reckless."
Clark asked in surprise, "What happened?"
Dane reached out and pulled a map from the void—a 3D rendering of Philadelphia, with thousands of humans marked in red.
"These are the things that just fell from the meteor; they have possessed human bodies."
Clark said in disbelief, "So that wasn't a meteor just now."
Dane nodded, "If I'm not mistaken, that should be their hive. Do you remember the parasites Bruce found in Metropolis? They were sending signals into outer space."
"This hive was very likely summoned by them."
Clark's face turned grim, and he quickly asked, "Can all of this be undone?"
"Once the event is over, everything can be undone…" With that, Dane's figure vanished into the air.
Los Angeles, Shabak encountered an obstacle here.
"Filthy Demon, how dare you do such a thing!"
Shabak looked at the woman in golden armor with wings on her back, puzzled.
Who are you?
The one who stopped him was Gabriel, who had always resided in a Los Angeles church.
She came this time because she smelled the scent of a Demon, and she couldn't believe that a Lord-level Demon would so brazenly poison the territory of "God."
Gabriel drew the greatsword from her back and, raising her hand, unleashed a golden light, which Shabak easily dodged.
It startled him quite a bit; he thought it was some formidable character, but this was it?
Seeing that he had easily dodged it, Gabriel's expression became serious, and she activated her aura mode.
A silver halo unfolded above her head, her combat power soared again, and her flight speed was so fast it left afterimages.
She struck Shabak with her sword, cutting a long wound across his red body.
The power of eternal metal also restrained his Demonic power.
Shabak roared to the sky, and the inverted pentagram on his chest suddenly spewed a ball of hellfire, pushing Gabriel's body away, directly crashing her to the ground.
Shabak pointed at the wound on his body, and with a flick of his fingertip, flames
"welded" the wound back together like arc welding.
He had just turned his head when a mace smashed into his face, the immense force knocking him down, and just as he had thrown Gabriel, that mace also slammed him into the ground.
Gabriel quickly stood up from the crater, looked up, and saw someone she didn't want to see.
"Hawkgirl."
The person who had successfully ambushed him was Hawkgirl; she had been lying in wait high in the sky specifically for this strike.
Shayera looked at the Angel below with a hint of provocation, "You look quite disheveled."
Gabriel merely snorted coldly and redirected her gaze back to the distant crater.
This minor injury, of course, couldn't do anything to Shabak; he stood up in a flash as if nothing had happened.
"Hawkgirl…"
Hawkgirl, the new member of the Justice League—this was intelligence the "parasites" knew.
However, the intelligence also indicated that her abilities were mostly concentrated on her Nth metal armor, and she herself wasn't particularly strong.
So Shabak prepared to forcefully kill her, but before he could act, Gabriel rushed forward, and her greatsword once again descended upon him.
This time, Shabak didn't dare to directly meet her attack and quickly retreated a step, avoiding the blade.
But Hawkgirl also joined the fight at the same time, smashing down with her mace while he was guarding against Gabriel!
Shabak raised his hand and grabbed the mace; the metal spikes on it pierced his palm, but he seemed oblivious, punching Hawkgirl away.
Shabak's body was indeed slightly less durable than the Shazam line, but his regenerative ability was extremely powerful, with almost all injuries regenerating instantly.
In just two breaths, the wound caused by the Nth metal in his palm had completely healed.
Gabriel continued to pursue Shabak with her attacks.
Shabak felt somewhat like a tiger trying to bite a hedgehog, unable to find a place to strike.
Gabriel's equipment was too luxurious, while he had nothing in his hands, which was a huge disadvantage.
Disadvantaged in close combat, he resorted to magic attacks, incorporating hellfire into every exchange, forcing Gabriel to fight cautiously.
But Shabak, after all, had superior attributes across the board compared to Gabriel, and he soon used his powerful strength and speed to put her on the defensive.
At this moment, Hawkgirl came up again with her mace, two against one, which was extremely unsportsmanlike!
But the effect was good; for a time, they actually fought Shabak to a standstill with their combat skills…
