Chapter 123 - Shut up! Your ideas will shatter at the slightest touch!

New Jersey

After a period of travel, Eller and the two women finally arrived at the military Base mentioned in the Insight Project case file in the evening.

This military Base had been abandoned for a long time; weeds as tall as a calf even grew in the floor cracks.

It was late, and the three searched for clues in the dim light; this Base appeared to have been cleared out many years ago.

Wanda even found traces of a homeless person living in one of the barracks, along with some street graffiti.

"Will there really be clues here?" Wanda asked, puzzled.

"The case file says this was one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s earliest Bases, so maybe those old folks hid something here," Black Widow replied casually, and at that moment, Eller stood before a locked steel door.

The doors of the other barracks were open, but only this one was locked; Eller reached out, grabbed the lock on the door, and exerted force until, with a sound of metal breaking, the lock was twisted off by Eller.

"Ladies, there's a S.H.I.E.L.D. secret room here." Eller called out to the two women, then walked into the barrack.

The interior furnishings were covered in dust and cobwebs, clearly an abandoned building for a long time, and photos of S.H.I.E.L.D. elders like Howard Stark and Peggy Carter hung on the walls… it looked like a museum.

Upon entering, the three began to search; Black Widow, who often did such meticulous work, found a row of pull-out cabinets, and upon opening them, she saw an elevator that required a password to activate.

After cracking the password with her Agent tools, Black Widow called the other two over, and the three took the elevator directly underground.

Ding—

The elevator doors opened, revealing a pitch-black room before the three; Black Widow found the light switch.

As the dim yellow light illuminated the room, the three also saw an entire computer array.

"An ancient device." Eller came to the central control panel and saw something out of place—a brand new expansion dock.

There wasn't much dust on the expansion dock; it was simply too new compared to the surrounding oxidized and dusty devices.

Black Widow followed Eller and discovered the expansion dock; she glanced at the expansion dock's interface, then took out her USB drive.

"It seems the answer is here." Black Widow plugged in the USB drive, and the next moment, the massive computer array started, and the sound of large fans whirred.

The camera on the central control panel scanned the three, and a voice with the sound of electric current came from the loudspeaker.

"Natasha Romanoff, 1 Maximoff 1 Hestia, born 1990."

This sudden introduction made Wanda a bit uncomfortable; she looked at the face composed of green squares on the screen and asked:

"Who are you? Why do you know my name?"

"My name is Arnim Zola, a HYDRA scientist. After World War II, I came to America with other scientists. The bad news is that I later developed cancer, so I had no choice but to implant my consciousness into the computer array, successfully making myself immortal."

This consciousness stored in the computer array belonged to Arnim Zola, a former HYDRA scientist, now a cybernetic consciousness.

Eller didn't want to waste words with Zola; he directly pulled out his Spider Smartphone and placed it on the expansion dock.

"Tell me everything you know!"

"You are not worthy to know our great ideals… No! You cannot do this!"

"Shut up! Your insignificant ideals shatter at a touch!" Eller said sternly; facing these HYDRA fanatics, he had no mercy.

Zola still wanted to be stubborn, but the Spider Smartphone forcibly transformed Zola into its own likeness with its powerful computing power.

The computing power of 20th-century computers was negligible in front of the future black technology Spider Smartphone; in the blink of an eye, it became respectful towards Eller and the others.

"Please command me."

Zola, who used to perform brainwashing operations on others, also underwent a brainwashing operation after becoming a cybernetic consciousness; truly, what goes around comes around.

"Tell me, what exactly has HYDRA done, and what is it doing?" Eller asked Zola.

"As you wish, sir." Zola revealed everything he knew, "After World War II, I and other scientists participated in Operation Paperclip, thus joining S.H.I.E.L.D., and using S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources to establish a new HYDRA."

"New HYDRA?" Black Widow's eyes narrowed slightly, thinking to herself that no wonder Nick Fury gave her this USB drive and asked her to find outside help.

It turned out Nick Fury himself couldn't spare the time, so he used this opportunity to have her investigate…

At this moment, Eller had already thrown several questions at Zola, "What does HYDRA want to do now?"

"HYDRA aims to establish a unified human World. To establish this World, we will strip humanity of all free will. There will be no freedom, only absolute order." Zola retrieved a large amount of original data.

"However, the failure of World War II made us realize that it is impossible to achieve this with only a few countries. The existence of Captain America and the emergence of a few powerful individuals after the war reminded us that HYDRA needs powerful warriors to defend its ideals. For this, I promoted the Transformed Human Project and the Insight Project."

"Insight Project? What is the true Insight Project trying to achieve?" Eller pressed.

"To turn all humans into Transformed Humans, thereby promoting human evolution. HYDRA scientists hidden within S.H.I.E.L.D. will advance technological development, but these technologies will all become HYDRA's weapons. We don't necessarily need to use these weapons for anything; obtaining data and technology is the greatest victory."

Zola's words sent chills down Black Widow's and Wanda's spines.

HYDRA was as insane as ever; how could turning humans into something neither human nor ghost be called evolution?

This was sheer nonsense!

"Give me the list of Transformed Humans." Eller asked again; he wanted to get some evidence from Zola's mouth to verify his conjecture and prove that someone was a fake.

"Accessing… Access failed, target file deleted." Zola replied matter-of-factly.

It seemed HYDRA's operations were very clean; Eller was not discouraged but took out a hard drive from his dimensional pocket and called out to the two women:

"We need to download his consciousness as evidence for clearing out HYDRA Agents."

These hard drives were confiscated by Eller from Strucker's Base; their memory capacity was shockingly large, enough to contain Zola's program consciousness. He quickly downloaded Zola's will.

But as the progress bar reached 99%, Zola's consciousness also warned Eller.

"Detecting program about to be transferred, triggering destruction program."
