Stephanie's POV
I pulled into the school parking lot and found a spot near the front gate.
The kids jumped out, bags bouncing on their backs, waving like crazy.
I waved back until they disappeared inside, then grabbed my purse and stepped out.
That's when I saw her.
Tiffany.
Leaning against a shiny black car, sunglasses on, red dress tight enough to stop traffic.
She had no kid here. Never had.
So why was she standing in front of my children's school like she belonged?
I took a slow breath and started walking past.
Head high. Eyes forward. Not today, Satan.
"Hey, sis!" Tiffany called, voice all sugar. "Just the woman I was hoping to see!"
I kept walking.
Before I could take two more steps, Josh and Jolina appeared out of nowhere (they must have come back when they saw her) and planted themselves right in front of me like tiny bodyguards.
Arms crossed. Chins up. Legs wide.
"Stay away from our mommy," they said at the exact same time, loud and clear.
