Nobody breathed.
For several seconds, the only sound inside the maintenance room was the faint buzzing of the old fluorescent light above them.
Noah stared at Elena.
"The fourth member?"
Elena nodded slowly.
"Yes."
Aiden's attention remained fixed on the door.
"Who is he?"
Elena's lips parted, but before she could answer, the person outside spoke again.
"You've brought quite a crowd, Noah."
The voice was calm.
Almost amused.
Noah recognized it.
Not from recent years.
From childhood.
His stomach twisted.
"I know that voice."
Elena closed her eyes.
"I was afraid you would."
Noah looked at her.
"Who is it?"
She whispered a name.
Noah's expression changed instantly.
"Impossible."
The name belonged to someone he had known his entire life.
Someone who had been around during the years after his father's death.
Someone who had helped Noah when he was young.
Someone who had always presented himself as an ally.
Aiden saw Noah's face drain of color.
"Who?"
