~Abigail's POV~
"No… no, wait." I whisper, trying to move, and he stops immediately. His eyes widen, watching me closely.
"You're clearly not doing well, Mrs. Rassais," he says gently. "I just stepped out to take an urgent call. Your husband asked to meet with me, so we can—"
"Actually… It's a meeting with me."
My voice comes out steadier than I feel. The dizziness eases just enough for me to breathe.
"Oh?"
He carefully releases me, but his hands hover near my arms, ready to catch me if I sway again. I manage to stand upright, taking a deep breath.
"Okay, so… is there a problem? He said it was important."
"Yes. It is." My heart hammers. "I don't know how to put this the right way, but… I know you have four siblings. But do you ever... uh, do you ever remember having three more? Sisters?"
His whole face shifts.
His eyes widen.
He steps back as if the air just punched him.
"Wh...what are you talking about?"
