Enveloping the area in a thin layer of ice that snuffed out the flames and made everything looked like some freakish remake of a snow storm. A few seconds later, the snow cleared enough to find a smirking Fallen Angel.
...
Not that I was surprised, it was a good thing I watched out for him. I rushed forward and swung both swords at him, releasing them and creating a fresh set on the go as I attempted to restrict his moments with them. A few more strikes and a couple more of the Twin Swords, and I got his area of movement restricted. Now all I need to do is to break the swords and…
"Oh, that would not work on me boy."
I barely had time to put up my guard when Kokabiel slammed into me with his entire body, this time with more force behind it that I ended up losing my footing and have me back flipping on the way to a broken fence, resulting in my arms getting tangled in the mesh.
"Oh dear, you are caught like a fly in a web." Kokabiel let out a dark chuckle as he raised his hand to call forth a dozen spears all aimed at me. "So let's see how you will get out of this one." I grimaced as I hastily pulled my arms to no avail while preparing my mental trigger to call forth a shield. This was going to be a tight race!
'STABB!'
Then again, I may not have too.
"GARGH!" Kokabiel yelled out in pain as he looked at the spear of light embedded in his hand, the pain distracting him enough to have the spears vanish in a cloud of dust. With a snarl, he pulled it out before glaring at the little blonde girl hovering above us. "So the little underling has finally entered the battlefield huh?"
"Mitelt, what are you doing here?" I coughed as she came down to my level. "You should be taking cover."
"And you should be dealing with Kokabiel at a distance, not going mano-o-mano with some close combat weapons." Mitelt rolled her eyes while replying back as she used her spear to cut the fencing. "Besides, I can't have my caretaker die on me, otherwise who will deal with those devils and make those pancakes for breakfast?"
"Nice to have your priorities in order." I replied back flatly to which she replied by sticking her tongue out, but my heart was slightly lifted at the usual banter we have. Rubbing my wrists to circulate the blood, I turned to find Kokabiel looking at us with a raised eyebrow.
"… I am sensing some odd tension between the two of you." Kokabiel gestured with his finger while looking at us with an odd expression. It took me a moment to process what he said and it nearly brought my mind to a halt considering he was asking that in the midst of a fight. "Are the two of you?"
"OH HELL NO!" I interrupted loudly with a thankful thought that I was able to hide the blushing on my cheeks and that I had dirt and blood on me to help with the cover. "Dude, not that way! She is like jail-bait!"
"Are you kidding me?!" Mitelt also added in her bit, likely realizing what her former employer was referring to and was now sporting a bright blush as she pointed at me. "Who the hell would want to be with this idiot?!"
"Are you sure you two aren't?" Kokabiel tried again with a hint of a smirk that reminded me of a certain Wizard Marshall, and that pissed me off big time.
"Yes, we are sure!" We both yelled while throwing our respective weapons at him at the same time, letting them meet midway and exploding spectacularly, forcing him back a bit.
"… Okay then." Kokabiel shrugged back easily as he called out two of his spears. "Then let's have a dance."
That was the only warning we had before Kokabiel figuratively became a tornado of violence as he rushed forward with the spears and spun in mid-air to hit the both of us, forcing us back a distance. Without stopping, he continued to attack with an aggressiveness that might make Lancer salivate at the prospect of fighting him, not once stopping in his thrusting and stabbing, not once bothering with defense.
"UGH! I forgot how tenacious he is!" Mitelt called up a few spears and stacked them to form a temporary barrier that was barely effective against Kokabiel's barrage of attacks. "I could use some help here!"
"Way ahead of you!" I called several swords and broke them into arrows before firing them in quick succession with my bow, forcing Kokabiel back from the explosions and giving me enough time to grab Mitelt to safety. "Okay we need a plan."
"No shit, Sherlock." Mitelt blew a few hair strands off her face as she looked at her former boss grumpily. "I thought you said the Maou is coming with the hour, I think it is past that!"
"Well, I think this is a case of bad police work. They will only get here after the whole thing is over." I remarked flatly as I noted the timing. There was maybe ten more minutes until reinforcements arrived, but considering the crap we were in, we really needed some help.
"Okay, new plan. You provide support fire from the air, I will get his attention. Use that moment to restrict his movements." I projected a katana belonging to a certain Servant I knew.
"How are you planning to do that?" Mitelt asked while eyeing the elongated weapon, her raised brow a clear indicator of how puzzled she was at my choice.
"Trust me." I gave her an enigmatic smile before directing my attention to the Fallen Angel. With a big leap, I rushed forward at Kokabiel and swung hard at him, mentally thanking Fuji-nee for her lessons in Kendo as I was able to deliver several strikes at his body. But as always, rather than feel pain and death, Kokabiel seemed to be getting high from the fight.
"HAHAHAHA!" He let out a raucous laugh as he parried some of the strikes and gave me a few injuries of his own. I gritted my teeth through the pain and pushed him back enough to get some distance before calling out to Mitelt. "HIT IT!"
"Incoming!" The sky lit up temporarily before an array of light spears descended on the battlefield, showering Kokabiel with explosions and kicking up a lot of dust. For good measure, I projected extra swords and sent them at him to keep him on the ground. It won't be enough to kill him, but it would give me enough time to use a certain maneuver. I grasped the katan with both hands and held it parallel to the ground. With a few breaths, I steadied my heart rate and calmed my mind.
"Hiten…"
"ROOAAAHH!" The hailstorm of spears literally broke apart to reveal Kokabiel battered and bruised, now visibly showing some exhaustion from the continuous fighting we have done. That brief of lapse was all I needed
"TSUBAME GAESHI!" With a few steps I was in front of him and without giving him time to react, swung the sword and letting the experience of the sword guide me to using the technique to cut Kokabiel down. This should be easier in some odd way.
After all, a Fallen Angel was technically a bigger and darker version of a swallow right?
My first swing was able to cut deeply into his torso, forcing him backwards and putting him in position for my second swing that took away another wing of his. But before my third swing could take his head, he saw it fit to detonate his spear in between us, throwing my last swing off course and only making a deep cut at the side of his neck. My thoughts got cut off as the blast carried me all the way back a few feet.
"Well, that was something." Kokabiel touched his neck and looked at the blood on his fingers. "I have heard of fast moves, but that was something else." He looked at me with eyes that spoke of his age and years of war. "With one move, to create three consecutive strikes, that is not humanly possible even if augmented by powers."
Clearly you never met the Assassin from my world, or the Sasaki Kojiro of Japan at least.
That aside, this was getting very repetitive. No matter what we threw at him, this guy just won't quit. Seriously, I was kind of glad the Holy Grail War does not apply to this world, he would be a monster to deal with as either a Lancer or a Berserker.
