The man coughed up blood from pure agony but before he could even rest his hand was getting crushed by Kai.
"STOPPPP" the man yelled.
Kai continued, staring motionlessly until he finally stopped.
"Fine," the boy said. "I'll just go for the head instead."
Kai lifted his foot above his victim, ready to crush him completely—but the words the man said next almost made the boy freeze.
"What about Raikou?" the elder said, sweat slowly dripping from his forehead.
"Raikou?" Kai gasped, stepping back.
The man looked back at the boy panting for breath as he crawled toward his shrine.
"Please. Almighty… help m—"
His prayer was cut short as Kai stomped on his head.
"What about him? You think he'll choose a slimy rat like you over me? I'm even annoyed I let you take two more steps".
Kai's foot twisted against the against the man's skull, blood dripping from his scalp.
The elder grunted, pushing through the pain as he pressed a trembling hand against his shrine. He turned, glaring at Kai with shaking eyes of rage.
"Raikou will care. I feed him, trained him, treated him like my own son. Whilst you—"
"ALL YOU DID WAS PRAY EVERY DAY IGNORING HIM COMPLET-"
"Lower your voice you hypocritical brute," Kai growled, his eyes glowing purple, silencing the hopeless man.
"You forgot how that was years ago, when I still had hope that angels and deities existed. Unlike you, who prayed for these so-called gods I already stopped, realizing that hoping on fantasies like them is pointless. I can only change my life with my own hands."
Kai lifted his blade, ready to finish his unworthy prey until he let it speak one last time.
"Those eyes, Kai… are the reason the angels didn't help you. Angels do exist but they don't help devils. Obviously."
Kai chuckled lightly making the man gasp.
"So that's why they didn't help you did they? After all angels don't help demons do they? Kai said mockingly.
Before the man could even react, Kai's blade slashed clean through his neck. The same boy who he mocked for being a child has claimed his life.
Kai stood up.
"I wonder what he meant by demons," Kai thought, staring at the empty shrine. "Considering what he was gonna do to me and Raikou.. how could he even have the mouth to talk about demons".
Kai glanced away from the shrine, watching the decapitated head roll. He didn't sweat—but he thought.
"I can't let Raikou know. He'll be too hurt. And I can't let that happen. He's gonna miss having someone like that man. A parent. Hate him or not he did treat Raikou like his own son. But I should forget about that and cover this murder up.
The boy's eyes grew sharper, as he rested his hand on his chin.
"Damn. I didn't preplan at all. I was too eager to kill this guy after hearing what he intended to do. To take me and Raikou's pow—"
"Power"?
Kai's eyes widened, but his brain locked in. "I'll use his power" he thought.
Kai instantly clapped his hands, closing his eyes as mana radiated off his skin.
"I'm an idiot for doing this, but it's the only choice I've got."
His eyes tensed, his body shaking as his purple mana turned into a cloud. A cloud that's been waiting for years.
"Come out. Shinsu."
The mist formed into human, shaped creature. But they call this creature ancient.
"Finally. I'M FREEEE!"
