Chapter 534 - Reconciliation

The morning light came through the window before I even opened my eyes.

My body felt heavy, not from physical exhaustion, but from a poorly slept night. The couch did its job, but it didn't offer real rest. I spent more time awake than asleep, my mind returning to the same points over and over again.

When I finally got up, the house was already awake.

The smell of food came from the kitchen.

Normal.

Almost.

I ran a hand over my face, adjusted my posture, and headed there.

Lyannis was at the stove, calmly stirring something. Elara was organizing the table, placing plates in perfect alignment, as she always did. Vespera was leaning against the wall, watching in silence. Rai'kanna was sitting, relaxed in her chair, spinning a small knife between her fingers.

Liriel was already seated.

And she was the first to look at me when I walked in.

No one said anything for a few seconds.

The atmosphere wasn't hostile.

But it wasn't light either.

"Good morning," I said.

Lyannis answered first.

"Good morning."

Elara nodded.

Rai'kanna lifted her gaze, analyzing.

Vespera said nothing.

Liriel held my gaze for a second longer before looking away.

I approached and sat down.

The silence returned.

But now it was more controlled.

Less heavy than the night before.

Lyannis placed a plate in front of me.

"Eat."

Simple.

Direct.

"Thanks."

I started eating.

The taste was good.

But my attention wasn't on the food.

It was on the atmosphere.

On the details.

Rai'kanna was the first to break the silence.

"So… you survived the couch."

"Yes."

"Expected more drama."

"There was no reason."

She let out a small laugh.

"There's always a reason."

Elara gave her a quick look.

But didn't interrupt.

Not this time.

Lyannis kept eating, but spoke.

"We needed that time."

"I know."

Direct answer.

No resistance.

Liriel rested her chin on her hand, looking at me.

"Do you really know?"

"I do."

She stayed silent for a second.

Evaluating.

Then gave a slight nod.

"Good."

That was… different.

Not approval.

But not confrontation either.

It was partial acceptance.

Rai'kanna leaned her elbow on the table.

"I'll simplify it."

Everyone looked at her.

"It's not about you being with someone else."

Direct.

As always.

"That's nothing new."

Lyannis looked away.

Elara maintained her posture.

Liriel didn't react.

Vespera kept observing.

Rai'kanna continued.

"The problem was hiding it."

Silence.

She spun the knife between her fingers once more before stopping.

"That breaks the dynamic."

"I understand," I said.

"Do you really?" she asked.

"Yes."

"Then say it."

I looked at her.

Then at the others.

"I should have said it earlier."

Simple.

No detours.

No justification.

"You should have," Elara confirmed.

"But you didn't."

"I didn't."

Lyannis sighed.

"That complicated everything."

"I know."

Liriel crossed her arms.

"Will you do it differently?"

"Yes."

She held my gaze for a second.

Then nodded.

"Then fix it."

That was the closest thing to an agreement.

Not an accepted apology.

But an open path.

Rai'kanna relaxed in her chair.

"There. That's it."

"It's not that simple," Elara said.

"But it's a start," Lyannis added.

Vespera spoke, quietly.

"Recognition reduces conflict."

Everyone fell silent for a moment.

Processing.

The atmosphere shifted.

Not completely.

But enough.

The tension didn't disappear.

But it stopped being central.

I went back to eating.

This time with more attention.

The conversation continued lightly after that.

Small comments.

Simple topics.

Nothing that brought back what had already been said.

It was… functional.

After breakfast, everyone started moving.

Elara cleared the plates.

Lyannis helped.

Rai'kanna stood up, stretching.

"So… what are we doing today?"

"Rest," Elara replied.

"For now," Vespera added.

Liriel stood up.

"I'm going out for a bit."

"Guild?" Lyannis asked.

"Maybe."

She didn't give more details.

Just left.

Rai'kanna watched her.

"She's not done thinking."

"She always thinks too much," Lyannis said.

"But this time it makes sense," Elara replied.

I stayed silent.

Observing.

Feeling.

The group was still adjusting.

But it wasn't broken.

And that was what mattered.

Rai'kanna passed by me, stopping for a second.

"Don't do that again."

"I won't."

"Good."

She kept walking.

Lyannis smiled slightly.

"You survived."

"Barely."

"Don't exaggerate."

Elara returned to the table.

"This isn't over yet."

"I know."

"But it got better."

I nodded.

"Yes."

Vespera passed by me.

"Situation stabilized."

Short.

Precise.

After that, the environment returned to normal.

Or as close as possible.

The house breathed easier.

The weight had lessened.

Not disappeared.

But reduced.

I stayed there for a few more seconds.

Thinking.

The truth had been spoken.

The consequences came.

And now…

The group was reorganizing.

Not perfect.

But stronger than before.

Because even with the conflict…

No one left.

And that said more than any words.
