Time passed without me clearly noticing it. The days began to repeat themselves, but not in an empty way. Every morning brought training, every afternoon demanded attention to the village, and every night ended with a sense of constant progress. It wasn't something fast, but it was solid.
One month.
That was enough to change many things.
The village that once seemed disorganized now had rhythm. The crops began responding better after the purification performed by Liriel. The fruits no longer rotted as frequently, and the quality was visibly superior. It still wasn't perfect, but it was stable.
I walked calmly through the center of the village, observing the movement. The residents no longer carried that look of insecurity. There was work, there was organization, and above all, there was confidence.
"The flow improved," said Lyannis beside me.
"Yes."
She analyzed everything carefully.
"The resource distribution is more balanced."
"That's what we adjusted."
Rai'kanna walked on the other side, observing the surroundings.
"They're more prepared."
"After two attacks, they had to be."
Scarlett let out a light laugh.
"And there will still be more."
"Probably," I replied.
Elara observed the structures that had been reinforced.
"The physical barriers helped a lot."
"Yes."
Liriel smiled lightly as she looked at some of the crops.
"The purification worked."
"It worked."
Vespera, as always, remained attentive to the surroundings.
"And there are no recent signs."
"For now."
I stopped for a moment, looking at one of the areas that had previously been compromised. Now, the soil was firmer, the plants healthier.
"This is already a result," I said.
Lyannis nodded.
"And a consistent one."
The village master approached, carrying a firmer posture than before.
"Lord."
"How is it going?"
He took a deep breath.
"Better than we expected."
"Explain."
"The harvests are more stable, waste has decreased, and we managed to organize storage better."
I nodded.
"Good."
He continued.
"And we also reinforced the defenses as you instructed."
Rai'kanna crossed her arms.
"That's going to be necessary."
"Yes," he replied. "Everyone is more prepared now."
Scarlett looked around.
"You can tell."
Liriel added.
"They're more confident."
The man lowered his head slightly.
"Thanks to all of you."
I shook my head.
"Thanks to your work."
He didn't insist.
"We'll continue improving."
"That's expected."
He moved away shortly after, returning to his tasks.
I kept walking.
"You're making this work," said Elara.
"I'm organizing it."
"More than that," she replied.
Lyannis completed.
"You created a system."
"A simple system."
"But efficient," she said.
Scarlett smiled lightly.
"You're becoming a real lord."
I looked at her.
"I already am."
Rai'kanna gave a slight smile.
"Now you actually look like one."
Vespera spoke quietly.
"And they recognize that."
I nodded.
"That's important."
I stopped again, looking at the village horizon.
"But it's not enough."
Liriel tilted her head.
"What do you mean?"
"This place is stable."
Lyannis replied.
"But the rest isn't."
"Exactly."
Rai'kanna understood immediately.
"The other territories."
"Yes."
Scarlett crossed her arms.
"And what's coming."
"That too."
Elara kept her gaze firm.
"So this is only the beginning."
"Yes."
I took a deep breath.
"One month was enough to stabilize things."
Liriel asked.
"And now?"
"Now… maintain it."
Lyannis completed.
"And expand."
"Yes."
We returned to the mansion at the end of the afternoon. The path was already familiar, and the feeling was different from when we first arrived. There was no longer constant urgency, but there was no complete relaxation either.
I entered and went straight to the main room. I sat down for a moment, simply organizing my thoughts.
"The next step?" Scarlett asked.
I looked at her.
"Check the other territories."
Rai'kanna nodded.
"Makes sense."
Lyannis was already thinking ahead.
"Compare results."
Elara added.
"Adjust whatever is necessary."
Liriel smiled lightly.
"And make sure everything stays clean."
Vespera simply said:
"And prepared."
I nodded.
"Exactly."
I stood up.
"But not today."
Scarlett raised an eyebrow.
"You're going to rest?"
"Yes."
Rai'kanna gave a slight smile.
"A miracle."
I ignored the comment.
"My body needs it."
Elara nodded.
"And your mind too."
Liriel agreed.
"You can't push yourself all the time."
Lyannis completed.
"Consistency is more important."
Vespera simply watched.
We headed to the bedroom as night fell. The atmosphere was calm, with no signs of alarm, no urgency.
I lay down, feeling my body responding better than it had weeks ago. The training had worked. My control had improved. The village was stable.
But even so…
I opened my eyes for a moment.
That feeling was still there.
Distant.
But constant.
I closed them again.
One month brought progress.
But it also made one thing clear.
What was coming… was still getting closer.
