Stannis's voice cut through the tense silence, sharp and edged with jealousy. "Your Highness, is that how you speak to your blind date?"
Jian Rui's lips parted, but no words came at first. "…" He didn't think he needed to explain anything—there was nothing between him and Carmine. Yet it seemed he had underestimated Stannis's jealousy.
"It was only a blind date," Jian Rui said finally, his tone cool. "And it didn't work out."
Carmine lowered his head, his voice trembling as though he were about to beg. "Is there something I did wrong? I… I really would like to pursue a relationship with you."
Stannis, who had been restraining himself this entire time, surged with anger. His psychic power rushed through the room, the air vibrating with dangerous energy.
Sensing the impending doom, Jian Rui interjected sharply. "Stannis, if you can't contain yourself, then go wait outside."
