Alarna's jaw tightened, but she didn't let it show. She turned on her heel and walked toward the door. Jian Ci followed, but not fast enough for her liking. She reached back, grabbed his wrist, and dragged him along.

Aesthetically, they were perfect. It was the tall, golden retriever prince and the brilliant, beautiful strategist. They looked like they belonged on the cover of a romance novel. But only Alarna knew the truth.
It was all smoke and mirrors. Yu Xi's gaze dropped to her hand wrapped around Jian Ci's wrist and his jaw clenched as he looked away.
