[1 month after the wedding...]
"Man, the sun is so hot today, it feels like I'm fighting with Azula all over again!" Toph sighed in annoyance as she slumped over, wiping the sweat from her forehead while complaining about the heat.
The sun was extremely warm today, and it had been like this for a whole month since summer began, especially in a country like the Fire Nation, known for its heat.
"Norrak, can you make it cooler or something? How about freezing the ground in snow and stuff?" Toph turned to Norrak with a wronged face, pleading with Norrak as she felt her armpits soak her clothes with sweat.
"Hehe~, although I don't feel hot like you say, I guess I could cool you down," Norrak chuckled at Toph's expressions, her cuteness making him want to smother her in his arms.
Swoosh!
With a wave of his hand, Norrak lowered the temperature in the area by a hundred meters, turning the water in the air into snow that melted upon touching the floor.
Toph has started wearing thin-soled shoes designed by Norrak, inspired by the footwear she wore in her previous life. She no longer needs to be barefoot, as she can use the dust in the air to see.
"Speaking off, Toph, what if I said I could cure your blindness?" Suddenly, Norrak placed a hand on Toph's shoulder gently, his voice soft and eager as he looked down at Toph.
"Huh?"
Freezing in place at Norrak's tone and his warm palm on her shoulder, Toph slowly turned towards him, her eye an ugly, dull grey, unblinking as she stared at Norrak.
"You could cure... My blindness?" Toph repeated Norrak's question in a trembling voice, waiting for Norrak's affirmation. Disbelief and shock in her tone as she felt her body tremble.
Since she could remember, Toph had been blind since birth. Not able to see, and unable to move without the aid of someone or a servant of her family.
The only time she was finally able to see even a speck of visual sight was when she learned Seismic sensing from the Badger Moles drilling underground.
Ever since she learned Seismic sensing from those two badger moles.
Toph had become more confident in herself and her actions, and she could also express herself confidently, no longer needing to hide behind a fragile image to calm down her parents.
She doesn't have a strong desire to regain her vision, as she sees no benefit in it; her Seismic sensing is likely far superior.
But she wanted to see right now.
She wanted to see Norrak's face, and she wanted to look him in the eyes and admit her love for him all over again, but this time with her eyes locked with his.
"Do it, Norrak. I wanna see your face, I've always wanted to see your face, and this time, I wanna admit my love for you wiht our eyes locked," Toph stepped forward, wrapping her arms around his waist, her chin resting on Norrak's chest as she looked up at his face.
"Okay, grit your teeth, it might hurt for an instant," Norrak smiled gently, his palm resting on Toph's head as he smoothed her hair gently with attention.
"Open your eyes, and make sure you don't blink", Norrak continued, raising a finger covered in frost and cold vapour drifting off as he moved it closer to Toph's pupils.
Touch~
"Hisss!" Toph took a deep breath as Norrak's cold finger touched Toph's pupils. The effect was instant, freezing the layer of cloudy lens in Toph's eyes with absolute zero.
With a soft pull of his finger, Norrak pulled off the frozen cloud of lens from Toph's eyes, revealing a beautiful and vibrant green colour beneath, unfocused and dull.
"Quickly, close your eyes. It's not used to light and could be damaged," Norrak instructed while a ball of water floated onto her eye, glowing as she healed her freshly freeze-cut eye.
"Okay," Toph nodded with trust in Norrak, the pain already fading as her eye healed completely. Norrak chuckled, his Six Eyes glowing as he turned towards the remaining eye.
The only reason Norrak was able to do something like this is that Toph's eyes were not born blind from birth, but were a defect caused by the state her mother was in during pregnancy.
Which, judging by the medical level of this world that barely went beyond bandages and some disinfection potions, was not something they could have solved.
"I'll do your right eye next; it will hurt, so hold on,"
A few seconds later, Norrak treated Toph's remaining eyes, which she then closed and healed by Norrak. However, it didn't impact Toph since she used Seismic Sense to perceive her surroundings.
"Keep your eyes closed for a day until it gets slightly used and adapted to the light through your eyelids," Norrak instructed Toph, who nodded with an excited grin on her face.
"Okay, since this is over. We should do what you called me over here for, right?" Toph turned around and stepped towards an open area behind the mansion where they all live.
"Hmph!"
Boom!
With a massive stomp onto the ground, Toph cleaved the ground from four directions, creating a massive square hole in the dense earth.
From the hole, a massive metal structure shaped like a cone, with a green crystal on top, surged forward, reaching a height of 40 meters into the air.
Swoosh!
Instantly, the air filled wiht wild Chi was absorbed by the crystal in the air, which started glowing brightly, recycling the air into Chi that was released into the atmosphere as pure processed Chi.
"Now, let's make sure no one can just come and steal this, or I would be quite angry," Norrka floated to the crystal, and with a deep breath, he used every single skill he knew to form a seal around the crystal.
Crack!
An ice barrier created by Norrak using Absolute Zero, then reinforced with statis, a skill he can use to freeze time on an object, making it virtually indestructible, surrounding the crystal.
On the crystal barrier, tiny holes too small for the eyes to see were counted in the thousands, allowing the crystal to still absorb the air and Chi, creating a never-ending cycle of energy.
"Are you sure this tiny thing could power the entirety of the Fire Nation forever?" Toph's confused voice reached Norrak's ears, who merely smiled at the question.
"Might not look like it, but this will be the thing that will revolutionise our country," Norrak replied, already imagining the way the future will roll out, especially with him here.
