Edward Weevil.
Whitebeard's "Second Son."
At this stage, Kai judged Weevil to be around twenty—still not at his peak yet.
In Kai's memory, Weevil's most infamous incident was still five or six years away.
That was when an entire training class would be nearly annihilated—only two survivors left.
Zephyr would be heavily injured… and lose an arm.
After that, Zephyr's personality would darken.
And when Weevil was later invited into the Seven Warlords system—
Zephyr would finally break away and start hunting pirates with a terrifying, extremist philosophy.
All of it…
Spiraled from this one "son."
Right now, though—
Weevil wasn't at the height of that future yet.
Still, even before his peak…
He was not someone normal trainees could touch.
Kai kept watching.
There were over a hundred pirates on the ship—clearly Weevil's followers.
And among them stood an even more striking figure—
A short, ugly old woman with a wrinkled face and a "boss" posture.
"…Miss Bakkin," Kai muttered.
Weevil's "mother."
Weevil's mind was like a child's—barely capable of independent thinking.
Which made it easy for someone like her to control him.
Whether she was truly his mother…
Whether he was truly Whitebeard's son…
No one could prove it.
But one thing was undeniable:
Weevil's raw combat power was real.
While Kai observed—
The trainees beside him also noticed the pirate ship.
The skull flag.
The bold approach.
Instantly, excitement spread.
"It's pirates!"
"Finally!"
"Do we call Instructor Zephyr?"
"Why? We can handle a random pirate ship."
"Plus Smoker's here—he's a Logia!"
"And…"
"Kai's here."
The trainees were hyped.
Only Smoker and Tina noticed Kai's expression.
It wasn't excitement.
It was serious.
Smoker frowned. "You saw something."
Kai's voice was calm—but heavy.
"My suggestion is: notify Instructor Zephyr immediately."
"This isn't something you can handle."
"Even I can't guarantee a clean win."
The deck went quiet.
Even Smoker's pupils tightened.
"…Even you?"
Some trainees turned pale.
Right then, several of them sprinted off to call Zephyr.
Smoker held his breath. "Who is that guy?"
Kai didn't answer.
"When Zephyr gets here… ask him."
He kept his eyes locked on the ship.
And what happened next made the trainees' blood run cold.
The pirate ship didn't retreat.
It didn't hesitate.
It sped straight toward the Marine warship.
Closing the distance like it was hunting.
"What the hell?!"
"They saw us—and they're charging?!"
"Are they insane?"
"Or…"
"…do they really think they can sink us?"
The closer it got, the clearer that crushing pressure became.
Smoker clenched his fists instinctively.
He understood now.
This wasn't arrogance.
This was confidence.
Not long after—
Zephyr arrived at the deck.
The moment he saw the figure on that ship—
His face changed.
Kai glanced sideways. "You recognize him."
Zephyr's voice dropped.
"So he's out here already…"
"The sea really is getting uglier."
Tina asked softly, "Instructor… who is that?"
Zephyr didn't take his eyes off the approaching ship.
"Edward Weevil."
"No bounty issued yet."
"But his strength… is absolutely top-tier."
"He has a title."
"Whitebeard the Second."
Silence.
Total silence.
The trainees might not know Weevil…
But they all knew the name Whitebeard.
The man who fought the Pirate King.
The one called the World's Strongest Man.
If this creature was even remotely connected to that…
Then—
Zephyr continued, voice grim.
"Whether he's truly Whitebeard's son is unproven."
"But his strength is real."
"Even I—if I have to protect all of you—can't guarantee I can take him down cleanly."
The trainees' fear finally snapped into place.
Even Smoker and Tina looked shaken.
Zephyr stepped forward, preparing to move.
"Kai. Protect them."
"I'll go meet him."
But Kai shook his head—smiling like he'd already decided.
"Instructor Zephyr…"
"Let me do it."
