Chapter 130: Convincing Old Coot
---Bonus Scene Last Night----
What happened next drained Steve more than the last battle with the Death Eaters.
At first, he had considered simply blowing everyone away with a casual spell and walking out of this building. But doing that would not help him in the long run. He needed information. He needed access. He needed to know whether this was canon, fanon, or some strange mixture.
And for that, he needed Dumbledore. Furthermore he wanted to know either his brother would go to Hogwarts or he had study in other magical school for example beauxbatons.
It wasn't easy to act like nothing after you manage to defeat and even indirectly kill 3 death eater, and worst you are doing it infront of Albus Dumbledore, the current strongest wizard in the world, so he chose to show them some magic just using a hand movement enough to convince all of them especially Dumbledore.
Steve forced a tired smile. He raised his hand and he almost draw a glowing Sigil in the air fortunately he stopped because glowing sigil would show he had learn either from someone or from the book so he choose a simple spell.
A cup on the table rose into the air smoothly, then he channelled the cup to come closer and changed the shape into a metal cone that sharp enough to pierces the enemy.
The room gasped.
"Merlin beard…" whispered Kingsley, eyes widening.
One of the Aurors stepped forward in disbelief. "How did you do that?"
Steve shrugged casually. "I use imagination."
The room fell silent, the kind of silence that came when someone said something so ridiculous you didn't know how to respond.
Even Amelia Bones, who was known for being iron-nerved, blinked twice and her mouth also wide open in disbelief.
"Imagination," she repeated slowly, as if confirming she heard him correctly.
"Yes," said Steve, nodding as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I imagine what I want and then I make it real."
"You… imagine?" Kingsley muttered, as if trying to process it through every syllabus of magic he had learn from Hogwarts. "Just imagine?"
"Yup," answered Steve while make sure his 'P' were popped.
Dumbledore eyes sparkled with interest. The old wizard leaned slightly forward, peering at Steve with the kind of fascinated look people usually reserved for phoenixes or rare magical artifacts.
Then deep inside he started to think of another brilliant student and also his past friend Grindelwald.
'This kind of power without guidance is dangerous,' thought Dumbledore.
"Since when you have learn to control you magic?" asked Dumbledore.
"When I discovered I am unique, I though I am superhero," replied Steve truthfully. When he got the memory of Ancient one he though he had become Super hero but the more he stayed here, he decided to use this magic to make money and find his little Brother.
"Superhero?" repeated Dumbledore, he didn't expect Steve answer.
"Yes, so I learn it by myself and started to pour my imagination and then I found I can change size, material of any object that I want," Steve started to mix truth and lie on his word.
Suddenly everyone clapped their hands, amaze with Steve talent. Because when they are young, their accidental magic usually make an object fly but Steve can even use transfiguration.
"Thank you," said Steve after everyone finish their clap.
"So I assume that you manage to defeat Death Eaters by using you ability but may I ask can you redirect a spell thrown at you?" asked Dumbledore.
Steve eyebrows raised, he knows Dumbledore still suspicious about him because 3 death eaters who died are hit by a killing curse.
Steve nodded, "Yes,
"So, can you redirect one of my attack?" asked Dumbledore.
"Do you want to attack me, Mr Gandalf?" questioned Steve.
"Gandalf," repeated Dumbledore taken aback then he just remembered he didn't introduced himself yet. "Where is my manner, I didn't introduced my self. Mr Steve, my name is Albus Dumbledore and I am the headmaster of Hogwarts."
"Woahhh, you are headmaster," replied Steve while trying to act surprised.
"Yes I am indeed headmaster and you might become our future student so can you try to redirect one of my spell? asked Dumbledore.
Hearing this Steve caressed his chin before nodding.
"Ok Headmaster Dumbledore," replied Steve.
"Amelia, forgive me to use a magic inside this office," said Dumbledore before taking out his wand.
"Is ok," answered Amelia. She also wanted to know the capability of Steve Roger the first underage wizards who manage to defeat the whole squad of Death Eaters.
"Thank you," smiled Dumbledore before looking at Steve. "Are you ready, I will to 3."
"Yes, Headmaster," replied Steve.
"1... 2... 3... Stupefy," said Dumbledore and the red curse flying towards Steve and Steve redirected the magic toward the heavy oak table.
It rose five feet into the air, before suddenly crack and by the looks of the crack it might explode.
Every Auror in the room immediately grabbed their wand and pointed it at the floating furniture as if expecting it to explode.
It didn't.
Instead, the entire table rotated lazily in circles before it repaired itself.
"That's… wasn't that table almost exploded?" Kingsley whispered. "That's not any spell I know."
The other auror and even Dumbledore himself also believed that the heavy oak table almost exploded but suddenly the magic vanished and the table repaired itself.
Amelia Bones took a step forward. "Mr Roger, that level of wandless magic is… extraordinarily dangerous. Most adults need to use wand and you can control magic just using hand."
Steve opened his mouth then smirked.
He floated upward, without using a broom or transfigured his body to grow a wing.
He simply stepped off the ground and remained suspended midair as though gravity had politely decided to leave him alone.
This time even Dumbledore eyes become wide and it no longer twinkling.
One of the junior Aurors nearly screamed. "HOW....HOW ARE YOU FLYING?!"
Steve pointed at his shoes. "I'm not flying. I'm levitating my shoes that is why I manage to fly. ."
Dumbledore stared, absolutely delighted. "Marvelous. Simply marvelous."
Kingsley rubbed his forehead.
Amelia, however, wasn't amused. She crossed her arms sharply.
"Steve Roger, just who taught you this magic?"
"No one," Steve said honestly. "I just… learn by myself, test it and wait... Madam can't you fly like me?"
Everyone was taken a back, did this kid really think everyone can do the same like him?
Amelia feel her cheek turn red before flicking his wand to her shoes and she floated before she almost fall down due to unstable factor, so she cancelled it before embarassing herself.
"So you can do," said Steve while caressed his chin.
Kingsley exchanged a look with Amelia. "Minister… this boy is either the most gifted magical child in centuries or something entirely new."
Dumbledore, still studying Steve as though he were a rare magical creature, finally spoke again.
"Steve, my boy… do you know how dangerous the spells you faced were? Killing curses, bone-shattering hexes, fire serpents… Yet did you really redirected it?"
"Not every attack I redirected, some I just use their body as a shield," Steve shrugged. "They attacked innocent people. I couldn't just watch."
A silence fell once more, but this time it was different.
Amelia looked at the Aurors. "Three dead Death Eaters. Five hospitalized. And an entire street saved." She turned to Steve. "For a child who claims he uses 'imagination,' you certainly fight like someone highly trained."
Steve swallowed his saliva, he really wanted to go home and didn't have anymore energy to deal with them.
"I don't know," answered Steve. "But can I go home right now, it was too late and I really feel sleepy."
After he said this everyone noticed it has become so late at night and finally it was under Amelia order that he can return home.
