Chapter 143: Hunt The Last Horcrux

After leaving the Gaunt Shack, Dudley arrived at Privet Drive with anger clearly written across his face.

It was very obvious that Harry, Susan, and the others noticed it immediately. They exchanged uneasy glances, unsure whether they should ask him what was wrong. Because It was very rare for them to see Dudley so openly upset. Normally, he was calm, confident and always in control of himself even infront of Voldemort.

Dudley went to his room and lie on his bed to calming down his anger.

For a while, no one said anything about Dudley. Eventually, Harry gathered his courage and knocked on Dudley bedroom door.

"Who is it?" Dudley asked from inside, his voice tired.

"Me," Harry replied.

There was a brief pause. "You can come in," Dudley said, shifting into a sitting position on the bed.

Harry entered the room slowly. Dudley was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching him closely, his expression serious and unreadable.

"Do you have something to ask me?" Dudley asked.

"I…" Harry hesitated, rubbing his palms together. "Yes. I wanted to ask why you came home so angry."

Dudley let out a long breath. "I suppose it's time to tell you the truth."

Harry stiffened. "You were hiding something from me?"

Instead of answering immediately, Dudley reached for his wand and cast Muffliato. A faint buzzing filled the room, sealing it from outside sound.

Harry watched quietly. He knew this routine well... whenever Dudley used the Muffliato Charm, it meant the conversation was very important and sometimes it was very dangerous.

"Do you remember when you were struck by the Killing Curse?" Dudley asked quietly.

Harry froze because up till now he felt something slightly missing.

He had asked about that incident before, more than once. Every time, Dudley had changed the subject or given a vague answer. Deep down, Harry had always suspected there was more.

"That happened," Dudley continued, "because of a Horcrux."

"Horcrux?" Harry repeated. "What is that?"

"It's the darkest magic that exists in this world," Dudley said grimly. "Voldemort split his magic into seven parts. To truly kill him, every piece of those parts has to be destroyed."

Harry frowned. "Magic can be separated?"

"Yes," Dudley replied. "But the method is cruel beyond imagination. Most books claim a Horcrux splits the soul, but that's was because they didn't know the truth. Even with magic, the soul isn't something we can touch."

Harry swallowed. "Then… how do you know all this?"

"When I saw your memory involving the diary," Dudley explained although he didn't touch why he knew about the true reality of Hocrux, "I started investigating why Voldemort survived. That led me to Horcruxes."

"And you confirmed it," Harry said slowly, he had forgotten what was his real question. "That diary was one of them."

"Yes," Dudley nodded. "And the real reason you could speak Parseltongue was because a fragment of Voldemort magic was inside you."

Harry breath caught.

"That fragment is gone now," Dudley added. "Which means you can no longer speak to snakes."

For a moment, Harry said nothing.

Then he tried anyway.

He hissed softly but it sounds english.

"That wasn't Parseltongue, Harry," Dudley said gently. "That was English."

"No… no," Harry muttered. "I just need to focus. Imagine a snake."

He closed his eyes and tried again and he still speak in english.

Dudley smiled faintly. "Still English."

Harry shoulders slumped. "So… I really lost it."

Part of him felt relieved, the piece of Voldemort inside him was finally gone. But another part felt strangely hollow. Parseltongue had been something uniquely his. Something that made him different.

"So," Dudley teased lightly, "you want Voldemort magic back?"

"No! I mean..... no, not like that," Harry replied quickly, then changed the subject. "You still haven't told me why you were angry earlier."

Dudley expression darkened again. "It's also about Horcruxes."

"What happened?" Harry asked.

"There's only one left," Dudley said.

Harry eyes widened. "You already destroyed the others?"

Dudley didn't answer right away. The frustration he felt toward Dumbledore lingered. If he had discovered the Horcrux himself, the reward would have been immense.... Horcrux-related gains were always far greater than normal ones.

Instead, he focused on what mattered.

"I believe the last one is inside Gringotts," Dudley said.

Harry blinked. "Wait… I overheard your conversation with Sirius once. You wanted him to claim the Lestrange family vault."

Dudley nodded slowly. "That's right."

He met Harry gaze.

"Voldemort likely ordered one of his followers to hide it there. I believe the Voldemort asked one of his follower to hide his hocrux there and most likely Lestrange family."

Harry eyes widened slightly.

"You might not know this," Dudley said calmly, "but the Lestranges are among Voldemort most loyal followers."

As he spoke, Dudley stood up and reached into his bag. From the outside, it looked as though he was rummaging around, searching for something buried deep inside. In truth, his hand slipped into his in-game inventory, retrieving an item from that pocket dimension."

He pulled out a broken tiara and held it up for Harry to see.

"This is one of Voldemort Horcruxes," Dudley said. He turned it slightly, showing the cracked metal and the dull gemstone embedded within. "I've already destroyed it."

Harry stared at the tiara in silence. Even shattered, it radiated something ancient, an oppressive, lingering presence that made his skin prickle. Whatever dark magic once resided within it was gone, but the artifact itself still felt something.

"This tiara," Dudley continued, "is similar to the Sword of Godric Gryffindor, the same sword you used to slay the basilisk."

Harry nodded slowly.

"All four Hogwarts founders left something behind for future generations," Dudley explained. "Gryffindor left his sword. Ravenclaw left her tiara. Hufflepuff left a cup and Slytherin left a locket."

Harry hesitated. "So… all of them were Horcruxes?"

"No," Dudley replied, shaking his head. "The sword was never corrupted. The others were. The cup, the tiara, and the locket were turned into Horcruxes. Then there was the diary that once possessed Ginny, the snake that never left Voldemort's side, and finally…"

He met Harry's eyes.

"…you."

Harry swallowed.

"But why?" Harry asked quietly. "Why did he turn me into a Horcrux?"

"He didn't do it intentionally," Dudley said. "After splitting his magic five times, Voldemort power became unstable. When his body was destroyed, a fragment of his magic broke free and latched onto the nearest living thing and that thing was you."

Harry fell silent, staring at the floor. His thoughts churned as everything finally began to make sense.

After a moment, Dudley smiled faintly. "Once we destroy the cup, we can hunt Voldemort directly."

Harry let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. "Yeah. I hope that mad Dark Lord gets defeated as soon as possible."

Dudley returned the smile but there was something he didn't say.

Something he kept hidden.

His Patronus still couldn't locate Voldemort.

And that was impossible unless Voldemort was no longer in this dimension.

The thought unsettled Dudley deeply. A threat from another dimension could turn this world into something far worse than anyone imagined.

Fortunately, his brother had transmigrated into this universe as well.

And his brother was far more powerful than even Dumbledore.
