We ate in silence after that, the casual chatter around us doing nothing to lighten the strange heaviness that had settled between us.
Spoons tapped against plastic containers. Someone laughed loudly at a corner joke. Yet, right there at our small table, an invisible weight pressed down on my chest. I focused on the food in front of me, taking steady bites even though my appetite had already vanished.
Once we were done, we quickly went back to the room to rest. Yun Si immediately buried herself in her phone, her thumbs flying across the screen as she scrolled through messages and social media.
While I stood and began walking slowly around the room, mumbling bits of the script, familiarizing myself with the next scenes. Just then, there was a soft knock at the door. Yun Si didn't look up.
"Come in," I said.
One of the crew girls peeked inside, her expression hesitant. Her gaze flicked toward me, and I quickly approached her. "What's wrong?"
