Chapter 22 - Daella VI

(Vaelor's POV)

"You shouldn't be here...." Daella said quietly as I closed the door behind me, "Vaelor...."

I walked over to her, looking around to see if there was anyone there.

"Daella...." I said, "My sweet Daella..."

She was sitting down on the edge of the bed, wearing her nightgown. Her hair was let loose, draped around her shoulders nicely. The light of the moon shining through the open window made her beautiful hair glow, giving it a beautiful shine.

She blushed, "Your plan worked...." She said softly as I reached her, "But it was embarrassing, to make sounds while we sat next to each other."

Her face turned red as I sat next to her, it was quite the adorable sight to behold. She was so pretty, so innocent. I would never despoil her, I would never do something as foolish as that. But something had to be done, something to get the attention of our stubborn father. I was getting tired and running out of ideas. Luckily, Aemon pulled me aside and told me that he would instruct some of Jocelyn's servants to fabricate the story, making it all believable.

Not only that, I just told Daella to fake moaning while the servants were "eavesdropping" outside. Aemon told me that he would handle the rumor spreading and that we would wait for the results afterwards.

I didn't think it would work so effectively, I am glad it did. I also didn't know how the old man would react, and he did react a bit harshly.

But I am glad it turned out the way it did.

I leaned in to her, kissing her cheek, "I would never harm you." I told her, "I don't plan on letting you go off to someone else."

She blushed even more, hunching down in embarrassment, "Oh, Vaelor...." She said, "If Father finds us here, he will be so angry."

I sighed, "I don't care." I said, "Let him be angry, it won't affect what we feel for each other. Will it?"

She slowly shook her head, "No...."

I nodded and smiled, "I love you, Daella."

She looked at me, "Y-You do?"

I nodded, "Yes." I said, "I did this for you. I risked the anger and wrath of the Old Jaehaerys for you. I didn't want you to be married off to a Velaryon, are you serious? I'll rather die....."

Daella blinked, "Do not speak like that."

"I am sorry." I chuckled, "But our punishment aside, I am glad it turned out this way."

"We won't be able to see each other for a year, Vaelor." She said softly, "That makes me sad."

"We can still write to each other. Pass messages." I told her, "We'll still be in the Keep. Father just wants to make sure I don't try anything stupid again, which makes sense."

"But it's going to feel like an eternity." She told me

"I know, Daella." I told her, "I know that."

She gently hugged my arm, "I will miss you." She said, "I will miss you greatly."

"As will I." I said, "I will think of you every minute that passes, Sister."

Before she could say anything, the doors opened and I saw Mother walking in, closing them behind her as she did so. She was still wearing her dress, as if she were not ready to go to bed yet. She had a serious expression her face, one that was enough to make Daella jump up in nervousness.

"M-Mother!" Daella said

She stood in front of us, giving both us a stern look, "I do not know if I should be disappointed or proud of the two of you." She said, "For you to risk something like that. It was incredibly foolish, my son."

She looked at me at the last part.

I nodded, "Mother..." I said, "I....."

"You are young. The two of you." She continued, "And I understand that you have feelings for each other. But...well, I guess I should have seen it. My sweet Daella, you are too kind for your own good. When Vaelor was previously betrothed, I should have seen it in your eyes, that you wanted him....."

"Well...." Daella looked down

"This is my fault." Mother said seriously, "I should have paired you two up immediately after Vaegon rejected Daella. If I didn't, we could have avoided many things. Lady Ellyn would have probably still be alive...but...."

"Mother, it is not your fault." I said, "I....."

"Answer me this." She spoke up, "Did the two of you truly lay with each other?"

Daella blushed and looked away, saying nothing.

"No." I said, "It was a lie."

Mother let out a sigh of relief, "Thank the gods." She said, "I do not want my precious daughter's life to be risked....but.....I will not say anything."

"Thank you, Mother." I told her

"I tried my best in quelling your Father's anger." She said, "But to no avail. He means what he said; your punishment. The two of you won't be able to see each other for a year. But I convinced him to allow you to see each other for a final day, supervised of course. So do not ruin this for yourself, Vaelor."

I nodded, "Right....."

She walked up to me and patted my cheek, "My sweet boy." She said with a smile, "I am sorry for all of this....."

"No, Mother. I am....." I said, "I just....I just love her....."

"I know." She said as she looked at Daella, "But the two of you will marry one day. So look forward to that. "

Daella smiled, "Y-Yes..."

She pulled away, "Just do not do anything stupid, Vaelor." she said as she turned around and walked away, "For your sake and Daella's."

She reached the door, opening and looking at us, a slight smile on her face. She then walked out and closed the door behind her.

"Somehow...." Daella spoke up, grabbing my hand, "I am very nervous about this...."

"There is no need for that." I told her with a smile, "We'll be fine. I promise."

"I will make you very happy, Daella."
