Chapter 44 - 44 - Kill Them Instantly, What’s There to Say?

After that, Hayashi made his way toward the CCG branch deep in the 11th Ward.

Along the way, he activated Blood Demon's Wrath, a dense mist of blood radiating from him, exuding a crushing aura of pressure.

Even when ghouls spotted him, none dared to recklessly approach. After all, if you're alive and well, who would choose to throw their life away?

Still, a few fools—either blind or just plain idiots—did charge at him.

But before they could even finish spouting threats, they were instantly shredded by his Demon Blade.

Because of this, the surrounding ghouls became even more terrified, not daring to come near.

So it didn't take long before Hayashi arrived at the 11th Ward CCG branch.

The once-glorious building was now a ruin.

Dark red bloodstains covered its walls, the ground was riddled with craters and cracks, and even the air itself reeked of death and decay.

Hayashi, however, was unfazed. After scanning the area, he stepped inside.

The lobby was littered with corpses, torn limbs and shattered remains scattered across the floor.

Hayashi walked through the carnage and began his search.

According to the intel he had received, the investigators stationed here had essentially been wiped out.

Judging from the scene, the chance of survivors was almost zero.

But his mission was never rescue—it was to recover important documents and bring them back to headquarters.

Before heading upstairs, he deactivated the passive aura of Blood Demon's Wrath.

There were still some ghouls inside the building, feeding.

Hayashi ran into several on his way up, but he cut them down instantly.

Unstoppable, he searched floor by floor until he finally reached the top.

"This should be the last stop."

Looking at the door to the commander's office, Hayashi pushed it open.

Inside the massive conference room, the floor was painted red, covered in dismembered body parts.

And seated atop the office desk were two figures.

Both wore Aogiri Tree's deep purple robes and white masks striped with red.

Their builds and presence were nearly identical—only the markings on their masks differed.

One had a red cross painted across his mask. The other bore a red "P".

The moment Hayashi laid eyes on them, he knew who they were.

They were Aogiri Tree cadres, S-rated ghouls known as the Bin Brothers.

They were unusual—inseparable in daily life, and even more so in battle.

"An investigator?"

Noticing Hayashi step inside, the Bin Brothers froze for a moment, surprised.

After all, they had already slaughtered this entire building. How could a dove still be alive?

Could he have been hiding this whole time? No… if that were the case, there was no reason to show himself now.

They quickly realized he must have come from CCG headquarters.

"Brother, who would've thought the doves' headquarters would still send someone to die?"

The younger one, wearing the cross mask, burst into mocking laughter.

Their Aogiri Tree had exterminated every last investigator in the 11th Ward branch.

And now headquarters sent just one person—still fresh-faced and tender.

"Looks like the doves truly have no one left worth sending."

"Sending just one calf to the slaughter~"

The cross-masked brother laughed so hard he nearly doubled over.

"Don't underestimate him. If he made it this far, he's no weakling."

The older brother, wearing the "P" mask, warned cautiously, his eyes locked on Hayashi.

There was something about him—a faint but undeniable pressure radiating from his presence.

"What a hassle. Another fight with Aogiri Tree cadres?"

Hayashi sighed, sounding almost bored.

"Brother, let's go! Third combo technique!"

"Yeah, let's finish him in one go!"

The Bin Brothers rushed forward in perfect sync.

"Unlucky for you… I'm tired of playing."

Hayashi's gaze dimmed with fatigue as he watched them charge.

"Brother, is this guy mocking us?"

"Don't let his words shake your focus."

From their backs, two azure rinkaku tails lashed out, stabbing forward.

"Sorry, but you two can just die here."

Hayashi sidestepped the strike, yawning, as if weary.

"What did you say? You bastard, just what—"

The younger one's words cut off abruptly.

The next second, his head slid cleanly from his neck.

"Brother!"

The elder roared in grief, rage flashing in his eyes.

"You'll pay for this! Die!"

But the moment he moved, his body froze.

Then, just like his brother, his head slipped free from his shoulders, his body collapsing to the ground.

"So tired… I just want to sleep."

Hayashi let out another yawn, feeling drained.

When he got back, he'd have to demand more overtime pay—and some vacation days.
