Chapter 48 - 48 - Don’t Steal My Prey

Under the intense training schedule, the first-year team improved rapidly — not only in physical combat, but also in their understanding of cursed energy and techniques.

Among them,Yuta's progress was the most remarkable. His strength was skyrocketing.Talent like his existed precisely to bridge the gap between geniuses.

It had only been a single year since Yuta enrolled at Jujutsu High, yet even without counting Rika, his power had already caught up with the others.

A month passed quickly, and Geto's Night Parade of a Hundred Demons had begun...

As night fell, in both Tokyo's Shinjuku and Kyoto, cursed spirits flooded the skies, the streets, and even the spaces between buildings.

Yaga, Gojo, and Jinsuke stood in the middle of the street, watching as the city filled with curses — and as Geto's sorcerers surrounded them like hungry wolves.

"Diversion tactics… Geto's real goal is Yuta."Yaga easily saw through his plan. After all, Geto wasn't even trying to hide it.

Releasing that many cursed spirits was meant to pin down the Jujutsu High sorcerers — giving him the chance to find Yuta alone, kill him, and seize Rika.

It was, quite literally, The Battle for Rika.

"Just as I thought," Gojo said calmly. "I've already sent Inumaki and Panda back."

He understood Geto's intentions perfectly. With only the first-years remaining at the school, this was the perfect opportunity to use Geto's attack to force Yuta to fully awaken his potential.

Gojo believed Geto wouldn't actually harm the students.

"Still," Gojo muttered, glancing toward the rooftops crowded with Geto's followers, "it looks like they won't be letting me go easily."

"Hey," he said to the man beside him, "how about you handle these guys while I go check on the others?"

At that, Jinsuke raised an eyebrow, lazily swung the Split Soul Katana in his hand, and gave Gojo a sideways look.

"You really think that's gonna happen?"

He had borrowed this weapon from Toji — a blade that ignored both physical hardness and cursed energy defenses. His plan was simple: wipe out all Grade 1 and higher curses in Shinjuku, then head to Kyoto and do the same there.

With such a powerful tool, his progress toward his goal would speed up dramatically.

"See ya," he grinned. "You can take your time playing with them."

Before Gojo could respond, Jinsuke blurred and vanished — leaving only an afterimage as he charged straight into the streets, ignoring every weak curse in sight and heading directly for the stronger ones. Anything Grade 1 or higher was his target — and no one was allowed to steal them.

"...Typical," Gojo sighed."Can't rely on that guy at all."

"Don't blame him," Yaga said mildly. "Everyone's got their quirks. His just happens to be enjoying curse-hunting — and honestly, that's not the worst habit to have."

Gojo exhaled in defeat. In a flash, he reappeared on a nearby rooftop — coming face-to-face with the dark-skinned sorcerer before him."You again," Gojo said flatly.

Miguel tensed. The same man who'd crushed him in Shibuya now stood there with a single eye visible beneath his blindfold. The pressure was suffocating. He tightened his grip on the cursed rope, ready to react at the slightest movement. He didn't need to win — only stall for time.

"ROOOAR!!"

A gigantic cursed spirit — over ten stories tall and covered in crimson fur — bellowed and lunged toward Gojo.

"Don't get in my way."

Gojo extended one hand. Cursed energy condensed in his palm, forming a small crimson orb that pulsed with devastating power.

Cursed Technique Reversal

Red

The orb shot forward — but before it could reach the curse, a blur cut across the sky.

"SHRRRIIIK—!!"

A single slash. In an instant, the massive curse was cleaved perfectly in half, purple blood spraying like a fountain and painting an entire building violet.

The creature let out a final, strangled roar — and fell silent.

Gojo's Red flashed past, narrowly missing the figure who had stolen his kill.

Jinsuke turned his head, a feral grin twisting his mouth."Kid," he said, voice dripping with menace, "don't steal my prey."

Then his figure vanished again, becoming a blur of motion — a one-man curse-slaughtering machine tearing through all of Shinjuku.

Gojo just sighed. "This guy… honestly."

Down below, a group of onlooking sorcerers could only gape.

"Grade 1 curses... just gone — like that?"

"Is this what the top-tier sorcerers are like?!"

Elsewhere, every active sorcerer in Jujutsu High was fighting fiercely — Nanami adjusting his tie as he bisected curses with calm precision, Mei Mei swinging her axe, Kusakabe slashing with his katana, and Hakari and Kirara fighting side by side with gleeful abandon.

Even Riko was perched inside a building, operating heavy artillery from above.

Whether Grade 1 or Grade 2, every sorcerer was giving their all.

Except… their kills kept getting stolen.

"Sensei, stealing curses like that is unfair," Mei Mei muttered, picking up her pace — she was getting paid per exorcism, after all.

"Good grief," Kusakabe groaned, gripping his blade tighter as he watched Jinsuke cleave through curse after curse. "Is that even humanly possible?"

Not a single curse — not even quasi-special grade — survived more than one swing.

Within minutes, Jinsuke stood atop a skyscraper, his body spotless except for the purple blood dripping from his blade.

"Tch. That's it? Geto's being stingy again."Only a few dozen? Who was that supposed to satisfy?

Feeling the rush of blood surging through his body, Jinsuke cracked his neck, glanced around, and locked onto Kyoto's direction. If he ran now, he could still make it in time to hunt there.

He was close — the next stage of the Eight Gates wasn't far. He couldn't miss this chance.

With a deep crouch, he launched himself forward.

BOOM!

The ground exploded beneath him as he shot across the skyline like a cannonball.

"Wait— did he just— is Jinsuke-sensei seriously running to Kyoto?!" Kusakabe gawked.

"Was he killed by a curse in a past life or something?!"

"Good thing I'm not a cursed spirit…" someone muttered.

Indeed — in this era, to be a curse was misfortune enough. Because Jinsuke was a tyrant to their kind.

"What a lunatic," Nanami sighed, wiping purple fluid from his gloves and adjusting his glasses. The man went berserk whenever he sensed a powerful curse.

Meanwhile, at Jujutsu High — Yuta had already engaged Geto. Together with Rika, he was locked in a desperate clash against the former special-grade sorcerer.

Geto wielded the special-grade cursed tool Playful Cloud, trading blows evenly with Yuta and Rika.

As for where he got the weapon? A quick glance at the unconscious Maki nearby told the story.

Beside her lay Inumaki and Panda — all defeated.

A month of training had made them stronger, but even so, against Geto… they were still far from enough.
