Chapter 59 - 59 - 2.5 Gojo

Megumi looked at Yuji and said calmly,

"I'll have my uncle protect you."

After spending a day with Yuji, he genuinely felt Yuji didn't deserve to simply die. It would be far too unfair.

At a time like this, the only thing he could rely on was connections—finding someone who could sway the higher-ups.

There were only two such people: Gojo, and his uncle.

But Gojo was away on a mission, so he could only rely on his uncle.

"I see… Thanks, Megumi ."

Yuji still didn't really understand why he had to die, but if someone was willing to save him, that person was basically a lifesaver.

Two days later.

Right on time, Megumi brought Yuji to Jujutsu High to handle his enrollment.

"You're Yuji Itadori, right? Come with me."

Jinsuke looked at Yuji with a slightly annoyed expression.

This was obviously a job Gojo should have handled—yet that bastard ran off at the perfect time.

"Oh, okay."

Yuji curiously looked around and asked:

"Uh, old man, Megumi said I might get sentenced to death. Is that true?"

"You're currently the vessel of the King of Curses—Sukuna. Normally, the higher-ups would never allow you to exist. But because a vessel for Sukuna is so rare, they decided that after you swallow all twenty of Sukuna's fingers, they'll kill you—thus completely eliminating the King of Curses."

Of course, this "decision" was something he had forced the higher-ups into.Left to their own devices, they absolutely would have executed Yuji immediately.

"So I'm gonna die sooner or later?"

Yuji sighed. "At least dying for something meaningful is… kind of okay, I guess."

"Wait—twenty fingers? How does that work? Don't humans have ten? I'm not eating Sukuna's toes, am I? I'm not doing that!"

Yuji finally realized—something didn't add up.

Fingers were gross enough. Toes were absolutely a no-go.

"Sukuna—King of Curses—had four arms. That's twenty fingers.Who the hell would make someone's toes into cursed objects?"

"Haha, yeah, that makes sense. Uh… old man, are there a lot of curses in this world?"

Even now, Yuji only vaguely understood what curses even were.

Jinsuke roughly explained the basics of curses.

Suddenly—

"Hey, you're a jujutsu sorcerer, right? Want to make a deal with me?"

A mouth appeared on Yuji's face, speaking with arrogant authority.

SMACK!

"Sorry, old man—this guy pops out on his own sometimes," Yuji apologized quickly.

This Sukuna guy couldn't take over his body, but he did appear at random.

"Oh? And what deal?"

A faint grin tugged at Jinsuke's lips.

He was curious—what did Sukuna want?

"Suppress this brat and let me fully replace him — and I'll give you the privilege of serving under me."

The mouth appeared again on the back of Yuji's hand, practically dripping with "generosity."

PFFT—!

"Hahahahaha…!"

Jinsuke burst into laughter.

"Didn't expect the King of Curses to be funny. You're almost like a human."

"But unfortunately, I'm not a sorcerer—just an ordinary guy. So take your deal and offer it to that white-haired guy instead."

"…I see. Very well. I'll remember you."

Sukuna engraved Jinsuke into his memory.

Someday—this ordinary man would pay for mocking him…

Calling him "human" of all things.

He was a king—four arms, two faces!

Even if he'd once been human, he hated being compared to humans.

"Hey, old man, is that guy really strong?"

Yuji still wasn't sure how strong Sukuna actually was. King of Curses sounded impressive, but he had no reference.

"He's very strong. In the golden age of jujutsu, even when all the sorcerers worked together, they couldn't defeat him. Even after death, no sorcerer in history has been able to destroy his cursed fingers."

Jinsuke replied casually.

"So if I swallow all twenty fingers… and I can't control him… what then? Is there anyone who can stop him?"

Yuji was already thinking ahead.

"Relax. The jujutsu world today has someone known as the 'Strongest Sorcerer'. If necessary, he'll step in."

"Really? The strongest sorcerer?! What's his name? Can I meet him?"

"You'll see soon enough. He's also your teacher. His name is—2.5 Satoru Gojo. Don't forget it…"

"2.5 Satoru Gojo? Weird name."

Before they knew it, the two of them had reached Principal Yaga's office.

The room was dim, lit only by candles.

"Principal Yaga, I brought him. He's yours now."

Jinsuke looked at Yuji and smiled.

"Do your best to pass the test."

With that, he left and closed the door behind him.

"Huh? Old man?"

Yuji turned around, but Jinsuke was already gone.

He looked around curiously, finally spotting the man weaving dolls in the center of the room.

"Hello! I'm Yuji Itadori!"

Yaga stopped his work and looked up.

"So it's you."

"What is your purpose in coming to Jujutsu High?"

About half an hour later, Yuji finally walked out, covered in small injuries.

"Looks like you passed."

Megumi leaned against the doorway.

"Megumi ! You were here? Where's the old man?"

"Idiot, call him Zenin-sensei!"

Megumi snapped, then turned and motioned.

"Come on. I'm taking you to your dorm."

He was clearly irritated—once again used as a pack mule.

"O-oh!"

Soon they reached Yuji's dorm.

"Ohhh! This is nice! A single room!"

"The second- and third-years aren't here right now, so the place is empty. Even when they are here, there aren't many of them. Anyway, stay here. I'm next door. If you need something, call me."

"Got it!"

Yuji was excited. A whole new life was starting—who wouldn't be thrilled?

He unpacked his belongings, including a poster of his favorite woman, which he taped to the wall. Then he continued organizing.

Tomorrow, he could begin learning to use cursed energy—and start searching for Sukuna's fingers.

The next morning.

Yuji woke to find two large men standing in his room.

"Holy—! Old man!? And who's this guy?!"

Being greeted by two giants at dawn scared the soul out of him.

"This is the man I told you about yesterday—the strongest sorcerer of the modern era."

Jinsuke introduced Gojo.

He had contacted Gojo late last night and forced him to return. If Gojo thought he could take a vacation by calling it a business trip—Jinsuke would never allow it.

"Oh! You're 2.5 Gojo-sensei! Nice to meet you! I'm Yuji Itadori !"

Yuji instantly perked up. This was the man who could fight Sukuna — the pillar his future depended on.

"2.5 Gojo? No, I'm Satoru Gojo . Your jujutsu teacher." Gojo stroked his chin, examining Yuji closely.

"…Huh. So he really fused with it."

He had assumed Jinsuke was just bothering him out of spite, dragging him back from vacation on some flimsy excuse. But it turned out—Jinsuke was actually telling the truth.

He might've wrongly blamed him this time.
