The real reason I haven't posted any new chapters over the past month is that I received an email through my business Gmail account (Months ago). I won't name the people involved, but they were apparently unhappy that i am "profiting" from their work.
To make a long story short, I reached an agreement with them and spent about $200 worth of VIP Points on Faloo (a Chinese web novel platform), which they used to support their new novel.
However, last Friday my sister said I may have been scammed. She discovered several emails that had been filtered into our spam folder from people claiming to own one of the novels we translate. They demanded a $500 payment in Monero (cryptocurrency).
They threatened that if we refused to pay, they would contact Patreon and attempt to have my Patreon page taken down for hosting their work. I won't disclose how much revenue that page generates, but it's obviously not something I'm willing to risk.
We asked them to verify that they were actually the author of the novel in question. Long story short, they weren't.
So... yeah.
After dealing with all of this nonsense, I honestly don't have much motivation to continue translating this novel anymore.
That said, I'd like to hear what you all think. Should I keep translating it, or would you rather see me drop the project and move on to something else?
