"If you need any of us we will be back in town within a week after these run out" he said after paying the shopkeeper and giving Dane a heavy satchel. "Oh are you guys doing something?" Dane asked curiously.
"Yes. We took a patrol request. So we will be out on patrol around the mountain paths to keep nearby village routes free from bandits, and undead." Darren expressed.
"I suppose I can't tag along on this?" He asked. Not wanting to be without lead for a month and a half. "Unfortunately, only official members can accept the quest. But don't worry after we come back. We will come by. You got money to last that long?" Darren asked.
Dane nodded. "Yes I do, but what about reforging my blade?" He asked reluctantly. He actually didn't want to reforge the one item who has been with him for as long as he can remember. But he understands that it is needed to continue. He has had his doubts, though he trusts his sword, and he upkeeps it diligently. The wear and tear over the years, the fights, and the likes have not been kind to his sword.
Darren pondered that for a moment. "Right right.. how about this when we come back we will handle that. This month of resources is just to prepare you for cultivation. We can't cultivate your body if your body isn't ready. so just handle this, maybe visit The Crooked Library to get used to Invidivia. When we get back we will help you out." Darren said, patting Dane on the back.
After that Darren had departed for the group. They were heading out after Darren got back from instructing Dane. As far as Darren has told him. Quest is a way for the sword members to gain money, reputation and trust with the overall guild and government of the city.
It feels like The Swords Of Sanquilius were perhaps a sort of independent standing army in Invidivia. A force that could be used with great variety. An elite group, defenders, offensive, guarding and more. Like the city had its own guards, its own soldiers.. but so did the guild. He supposed it made sense. It gave swordsmen of the guild something to do outside of their normal activism and it paid them well for it.
Dane had headed back to white beard deciding to start his month tomorrow, he had a lot to do. Drink the tea, endure that bone tempering bath, visit the library, find a way to cultivate his magical talent, learn the public lore of the city and get settled in. A whole month, maybe more. He supposed nothing can be overnight.
Turning in for the night his dreams were quiet and vividly dark. An odd drone hummed and he soon lost all senses of the world.
Morning rays filtered through the window. Dane waking up well before the rising sun had brewed a pot of hot water sprinkling Tiger Blood Root pedals in. He stretched for the days work, what he grew curious of was the bone tempering powder. What did they mean by it would hurt?
Dane got buckets from servants of White Beard Tavern. There was a bathtub. One of those bronze ones you put coals under. Keep a low fire and a bronze tub. He mixed the powder in, drank the tea calmly feeling out the effects.
A strange heat bloomed across his body. Felt like he stood in summer in full plate. He began to sweat this black ichor. Impurities, he got up stripping to take a bath. However upon stepping in he found that they meant like touching a searing skillet where the herbal water touched his skin gave off that searing feeling. At first he thought it was the hot water, but the feeling persisted. This is going to be a long morning
Dane visited The Crooked Library after the bath, he had endured the Bone Tempering bath for an hour. The feeling did somewhat subside but eventually did wane until the bath was as black as the chorus coming out of his pores. The smell was awful, he decidedly drained the tub and tanked the cost for a second bath. He refused to smell this bad. Like rotting eggs and dead skunks.
Much of his morning had been consumed by that, he had plenty of time and little more than a lot of reading to get into. Hence upon coming back he asked the exact opposite. "Could you tell me more from where you left off on Invidivia lore?" He asked Bogiyoga. The old woman looked up from her reading. "Take a seat then let's finish this little story for you so we can get past it" she said, closing the book and setting it aside the leather bound cover held no name.
