Silence.
The World of Void fell abruptly quiet. No one had expected that, moments after the chaotic melee among the God of Destruction candidates began, a contestant would already be dead.
The one who found it hardest to believe was the God of Destruction of the Ninth Universe, Sidra.
Bergamo was the strongest being in his universe. He had even trained for an additional thousand years in the Time Chamber.
Beyond reaching the Fourth Stage of power, Bergamo had refined his bodily instincts to the Third Stage. He had even comprehended the power of Destruction…
On top of that, he possessed the ability to absorb others' strength and convert it into his own. Yet before he could display any of it, he was killed by Gran.
After a brief pause, sound finally returned to the World of Void.
"Big brother!"
"Big brother!"
From the spectator stands, Bergamo's two brothers cried out, their voices torn with grief.
"It's over…"
The Supreme Kai and God of Destruction of the Ninth Universe covered their faces, terror written all over them.
Bergamo's death meant only one thing—the Ninth Universe was the first to be eliminated.
And next, they would have to face the punishment of the Omni-King.
"Lord Sidra, we're the first to be eliminated. What do we do?" the Ninth Universe's Supreme Kai, Roh, asked in horror.
"You're asking me? How should I know?!" Sidra roared in impotent fury.
The other Gods of Destruction felt not a shred of sympathy for him.
Instead, their wariness of Gran deepened.
Peak Divine Dimension. Sixth Stage of pure power. Third Stage of bodily instinct…
These were the martial attainments Gran had revealed so far—far beyond what Beerus's candidate had previously shown. With strength like that, no wonder he dared offend a God of Destruction.
Quitela stared fixedly at Gran's figure, recalling his earlier words:
Don't be frightened by my power.
Frightened?
He truly was.
An ominous premonition rose in Quitela's heart.
This man was far too gifted. He must not be allowed to continue growing.
On the central viewing platform—
The Omni-King glanced at the expressions of the Gods of Destruction before turning away, clapping his tiny hands.
"He defeated that wolf so easily! Gran is amazing~"
The Grand Priest smiled. "Gran's strength is indeed rather exaggerated. Fortunately, I imposed certain restrictions on him in this arena. Otherwise, it would've been a one-sided slaughter."
"Mmm~ The Grand Priest is so smart~"
The Omni-King nodded enthusiastically, looking as innocent as ever.
Over on Beerus's side.
Beerus and Champa were not the least bit surprised that Gran had effortlessly killed the blue wolf Bergamo.
If Gran had been entangled or delayed, that would have been shocking.
"You fat pig, stop worrying. Gran is already heading toward Hit," Beerus said, watching as Gran turned and left without a backward glance.
"But…"
Champa gritted his teeth, staring intently at Hit's location. "He's being held up by the Third Universe's God of Destruction candidate. And that guy has Fifth Stage power. Hit—you have to hold on!"
On the arena.
Within a forest, a small stream flowed gently.
Suddenly
The moving water froze.
Not from ice. Rather, the entire scene seemed suspended, as if time itself had stopped.
The next second—
Crack!
The frozen image shattered like a mirror smashing onto the ground, splintering into countless fragments.
"Is this a time-stopping ability? It doesn't quite feel like one…"
A slime wearing the attire of a God of Destruction candidate emerged from the stream.
This was the Third Universe's candidate—Bellock.
Bellock's body was light blue and gelatinous, looking soft and almost powerless.
But…
In Hit's eyes, he was a monster.
His power had reached the Fifth Stage.
"Damn it."
Hidden in the shadows, Hit had already used his Time-Skip once after being targeted by this creature—only for it to be cracked.
As Gran had previously explained, this was the third method of countering it: if the opponent possessed absolute power, Hit's Time-Skip would fail to affect them.
"Come out."
Bellock stood beside the stream, scanning the forest. His voice was soft, almost lazy.
"Your time-stopping ability won't work on me. If you come out obediently, I might spare your life."
His words faded into the forest's stillness. Aside from the murmur of the stream, there was no sound.
No sign of Hit, either.
Just then, from a distant location, an explosion thundered through the air. A terrifying wave of power rippled across the battlefield.
Sixth Stage of Divine Realm power.
It was the force Gran had unleashed moments earlier when crushing Bergamo's "Hungry Wolf Pierce."
Bellock glanced toward that direction.
Another aura there was rapidly fading.
Sixth Stage power? The Seventh Universe's candidate?
If that was his strength… this would become troublesome.
Hidden in the shadows, Hit recognized it immediately.
Gran was coming.
Hit forced his emotions into stillness. He had to hold on until Gran arrived.
"Still not coming out? If I find you myself, you'll die."
Bellock's expression turned cold. When Hit remained unseen, the slime's soft body suddenly morphed, forming two hands.
"If you won't come out… I'll destroy you instead!"
"Destruction!!"
Bellock raised both arms.
Two clusters of purple energy shot skyward. When they reached ten thousand meters high, they burst like fireworks—
Then, trailing long violet tails, the Destruction energy rained down.
Boom!
Boom!
…
The moment the energy touched the forest, countless trees were obLightrated. Each destruction triggered violent explosions as energy was released in bursts.
"He's comprehended Destruction power? Pity it's not at the level of rules."
"If it were rule-level Destruction, there wouldn't be such explosive energy fluctuations when he destroys things."
"Still… to comprehend Destruction power and cultivate his strength to the Fifth Stage—he's quite a genius."
On the viewing platform, the Gods of Destruction cast surprised glances at Mosco, the robotic deity of the Third Universe.
They hadn't expected his universe to hide someone with Fifth Stage power.
But…
Compared to Beerus's candidate, this slime was like a firefly competing with the full moon.
Back in the arena.
Whoosh!
A streak of white light cut across desert, snowfield, lava plains… and grasslands alike.
It was as though the fastest light in existence. Wherever it passed, a deep trench was carved into the earth.
Gran was racing toward Hit.
He could already sense Hit's aura beginning to waver.
Suddenly.
A plume of black smoke appeared before him, wrapping around the shape of a wolf.
It was the ancient being of the Fourth Universe—
The malevolent wolf, Light.
