"Father?"
Trunks looked at the young version of his mother before him. He opened his mouth, hesitated, then said helplessly:
"My father is the Saiyan Prince, Vegeta."
The ruins were eerily quiet. His words carried clearly into Bulma's ears.
"What did you just say?"
Bulma froze.
Son Gohan continued, "Bulma Auntie, you heard him right. In our timeline, your husband… is Vegeta."
Truthfully, even he couldn't understand it.
Back then, Vegeta had nearly destroyed Earth—and almost killed all of them.
"..."
Bulma's mouth fell open. Slowly, stiffly, she turned her head toward Gran.
Gran suppressed a smile and gave a small nod.
"That's impossible! How could I ever fall for—… No, wait! How could the Bulma of this timeline fall for someone like him? Has she lost her mind?!"
Bulma clutched her head, utterly bewildered.
Then, memories surfaced—
Back when she first met Gran as a child, he had warned her: never get involved with a Saiyan named Vegeta.
So… he had already known.
In another timeline, she would marry Vegeta.
Meanwhile, Trunks looked awkward.
Why was this other version of his mother reacting like that? Was his father really that bad? He was the proud prince of the Saiyan race!
"Alright," Gran said, patting Bulma's shoulder. "You already know these two timelines are independent. Their histories diverging like this is perfectly normal."
"…You're right, Gran."
Bulma gradually calmed down. That revelation had truly shaken her.
"Bulma Auntie… who is this?" Gohan finally asked, glancing at Gran.
Gran's attire was unusual. A tail was wrapped around his waist—clearly marking him as a Saiyan from another timeline.
"He's a divine being," Bulma replied, patting her chest as she steadied herself. "You can address him as Gran-sama. And… he's the one who saved you just now."
"A divine being?"
Gohan and Trunks exchanged looks, confusion evident in their eyes.
They clearly had no concept of what that meant.
Gran wasn't surprised. In the original course of events, they would only come to understand "gods" after encountering the Supreme Kai.
"Thank you, Gran-sama, for saving our lives."
Though they didn't fully understand, they both bowed deeply in gratitude.
"No need for formalities."
Gran lightly raised his hand. A mysterious force enveloped them, straightening their bent backs instantly.
"This…!"
Gohan and Trunks were stunned. This power was completely beyond resistance—terrifyingly absolute.
"Gohan," Bulma said at last, voicing the question weighing on her heart, "what exactly happened in your timeline?"
"…Ah."
Gohan snapped back to reality. His eyes filled with despair.
"It all started like this…"
Before them stood his savior—and a Bulma Auntie he trusted completely. He held nothing back.
A faint wind swept through the ruins, grains of sand whispering across broken ground.
Only Gohan's voice echoed.
Vegeta's invasion… Earth nearly destroyed… the chaos on Namek… the rise of the Super Saiyan… the android crisis… and Goku's heart disease…
He knew the Bulma before him hadn't experienced any of this yet—so he told everything.
After hearing it all, Gran gave a slight nod.
This timeline's history largely mirrored the one from the original story—the same progression through Namek, then into the Android Saga.
The key difference?
There had been no interference from a "future Trunks" early on.
In other words—
This timeline became the future… one desperate enough to try and rewrite the past.
"However…"
Gran sighed inwardly.
This particular future was even more tragic.
If he hadn't intervened just now, both Gohan and Trunks would already be dead.
And what would follow…
He could already see it.
Bulma, left alone, struggling to survive. Desperately building a time machine to change fate.
But in this timeline, Cell would still exist.
He would absorb Androids 17 and 18… and achieve his Perfect Form.
Created by Dr. Gero to kill Goku—
But here, Goku was already dead from heart disease.
Which meant…
Cell would set his sights on the one person capable of building a time machine—
Bulma.
"Damn it!"
After finishing his story, Gohan's voice broke. Tears streamed down his face as he shook his head repeatedly.
"My dad was so strong… the first Super Saiyan! How could he die from something like heart disease?!"
"If he were still here… no one would have died. Earth would never have become like this!"
"So… that's what happened…"
Bulma covered her mouth tightly, tears pouring uncontrollably from her eyes.
Now she understood.
Even knowing about the time paradox, her counterpart still wanted to go back—to change the past.
Because this timeline…
…was already drowning in absolute despair.
"That means… could my timeline end up like this too?"
Bulma's thoughts raced.
Just as Gohan said—Vegeta would soon invade her Earth as well.
Would her Goku suffer the same fate?
"NO."
Bulma wiped her tears, her eyes hardening with resolve.
"Now that I know what's coming… I will never allow that future to happen."
