Chapter 308 - Chapter 308: Departure, Senzu Beans

The Earth trembled violently.

That power spread so far it reached the entirety of Universe Seven.

"My Earth… has finally been saved!!"

Bulma of the future covered her mouth tightly, tears streaming from her eyes once more.

She had no idea just how powerful that energy truly was, but she knew one thing for certain—if Gohan and Trunks possessed strength like this, those Androids had no chance of surviving.

"It's over now. From here on, things will get better. Try to let it go."

Young Bulma gently held the hand of her future self.

Over these years, she had endured far too much.

Goku's death. The deaths of friends and loved ones...

All of it had come because of Dr. Gero's creations.

At last, the other version of herself had survived the nightmare.

Hovering nearby, Gran said nothing.

He merely shook his head slightly.

The future was never certain.

If this timeline also faced the Zamasu incident, then with only Gohan and Trunks' current strength, they still might not survive.

"Lord Gran, what's wrong?" Young Bulma noticed the strange look on his face.

"Nothing," Gran said calmly. "I was just thinking… Gohan's power should have spread across all of Universe Seven by now. So what exactly are Lord Beerus and Whis doing in this timeline? Why hasn't there been any reaction at all?"

He sank into thought again.

Seeing him silent, young Bulma didn't dare ask further about matters involving gods.

On the Island

"N-No… impossible!"

Androids 17 and 18 were pinned flat to the ground, blood constantly spilling from their mouths.

Step. Step. Step.

Gohan and Trunks slowly walked toward them.

The aura surrounding them was terrifying. Every step they took forced 17 and 18 to cough up more blood.

Seeing this, Gohan first withdrew his own power, then signaled Trunks to do the same.

But even without that pressure, the siblings were already critically injured.

They could no longer stand.

Gohan crouched before 17 and grabbed him by the head, forcing their eyes to meet.

Within 17's pupils, Gohan saw endless despair.

Once upon a time… his own eyes had looked exactly the same.

"So," Gohan said flatly, "what do you think of our strength now?"

"H-How… how did you do this?"

17's voice trembled.

"Was it that Saiyan from earlier?"

"And if it was? And if it wasn't?" Gohan replied coldly. "Do you regret not killing us sooner?"

"Yes…" 17 coughed another mouthful of blood. "I regret it more than anything."

Before killing me… can you at least tell me who that Saiyan was?"

"You think I'd tell you?"

"..."

This time, 17 said nothing.

His face was filled with boundless regret.

He really should have killed them earlier.

Meanwhile, 18 was being held by the throat with one hand by Trunks.

His other hand was wrapped in golden light—

Ki forged into a blade.

"Brother Gohan," Trunks said coldly, "don't let them die so easily."

"Let's carve them apart first."

"Fine."

There was no suspense left in the battle.

"AAAAAHHHHH!!"

"Please… spare me…!"

"It hurts!!"

"Just kill me!!"

Under Gohan and Trunks' merciless torment, the Android siblings screamed endlessly.

Future Bulma felt no pity.

Only satisfaction.

For three full hours, they continued.

Every protruding part of 17's body was sliced away.

Even 18 was not spared.

When the two Androids no longer resembled human beings, the hatred in Gohan and Trunks' hearts had mostly faded.

They no longer wished to continue.

So each of them fired a Kamehameha-like blast.

The two sinners vanished within the flames.

A gentle breeze blew.

Waves rolled against the shore.

The island returned to silence.

And this future timeline, trapped in despair for over a decade, welcomed rebirth.

"Brother Gohan… we finally got revenge!"

Trunks laughed.

Then laughed harder.

Then burst into tears.

"Yeah."

Gohan's eyes had reddened as well.

They stood there quietly for a moment, letting their emotions settle.

"Let's go."

Gohan prepared to fly back up to meet Gran and the others—

Then suddenly sensed something.

"Wait!"

Behind them, an evil aura emerged.

A grotesque lump of flesh, like a tumor, swelled and expanded rapidly until a shape formed.

It was Cell.

The Cell that 17 had supposedly destroyed earlier.

And now—

His form changed again.

His shriveled body rapidly inflated.

He had returned to Perfect Form.

"T-This… how is this possible?!" Trunks shouted.

"I didn't think his regeneration was this absurd," Gohan muttered.

"But so what?"

He shook his head.

"Weakness is the original sin."

"I refuse to believe he can keep regenerating forever."

Cell burst into laughter.

"I admit it—you two are strong."

"But what if I self-destruct?"

As he spoke, his body swelled into a massive sphere.

The move was so sudden that Gohan and Trunks were caught off guard.

"Self-destruct?"

Gohan blinked, then laughed.

"You think an explosion at your level can hurt us?"

"I know it can't hurt you," Cell snarled.

"But what if I blow up the Earth?"

"In Dr. Gero's database, Saiyans cannot survive the vacuum of space."

"No Earth means no air."

"No matter how strong you are—you die with it."

"You dare?!" Trunks' expression changed instantly.

Gohan, however, remained calm, already thinking of a solution.

"You're thinking of killing me before I explode, aren't you?" Cell laughed madly.

"Don't move."

"The moment you touch me, I detonate."

"You don't know Instant Transmission, so there's no way you can—"

He never finished.

"Is that so?"

"Then let me see just how powerful your self-destruction is."

A calm voice sounded before him.

Cell, now a giant bloated sphere, stared ahead in shock.

Three figures stood there.

Gran and the two Bulmas.

"Lord Gran!"

Gohan and Trunks were overjoyed.

Now that Gran had stepped in, there was nothing left to worry about.

"Y-You… how did you appear here?!" Cell cried.

Gran ignored him completely.

Instead, he looked at Gohan and Trunks.

"I know you two could have solved this yourselves."

"But being this careless… this reckless…"

"Do you think that's acceptable?"

"Or were you acting like this because you knew I was here?"

"I…"

Gohan opened his mouth, unable to answer.

"You finally got a chance to turn the tables."

"If Cell had truly blown up the Earth, what then?"

"This timeline has suffered for over ten years."

"You two Saiyans are all that remain."

"You no longer have the luxury of carelessness."

His voice was stern.

The two Bulmas beside him didn't dare interrupt.

"Lord Gran… we're sorry."

Both Trunks and Gohan lowered their heads in shame.

Gran was about to continue—

But Cell roared.

"Damn you! Ignoring me?! Then die together!!"

His body swelled larger still.

The energy within him was enough to destroy the entire solar system.

Destruction filled the air.

He was about to explode.

Gran raised one hand.

"Hakai."

Buzz—

A purple sphere instantly enveloped Cell.

Before the destructive law of a universe-level technique, Cell's body—and the raging energy within him—began dissolving into motes of light.

"It hurts…! It hurts so much!!"

"What is this power?! Why does it hurt this much?!"

"AAAAHHHHHH!!"

"Why haven't I exploded yet?! I-I refuse… I refuse…!!"

With one final scream of despair—

Cell vanished completely from existence.

Silence.

Dead silence.

Trunks and Gohan exchanged a look, both seeing the same shock in each other's eyes.

So this…

was the power of destruction.

It was terrifying beyond belief.

"All right. I've said what needed to be said."

"I only hope you don't waste the chance I've given this timeline."

Gran stepped back beside young Bulma and grabbed her by the back collar.

"?"

Young Bulma blinked.

Again?!

Why was she being carried like a chicken?!

Then realization struck.

"Gran… are we going back?"

Future Bulma also understood immediately.

"Lord Gran… you're leaving?"

"Yes."

"Your greatest enemies are gone."

"It's time for us to return to our original timeline."

Gran wanted to change the despair of this future.

But he would not stay forever like a babysitter.

He knew this timeline could still face Majin Buu… or Zamasu.

But those would be their battles to fight.

"Lord Gran, can't you stay a little longer?"

Future Bulma wiped her tears.

"We haven't even properly thanked you yet!"

"Yes, Lord Gran!" Gohan and Trunks pleaded. "Please stay!"

Gran shook his head.

"No."

"Time travel itself is a grave crime."

"I've already stayed here for five days."

"That alone is a serious violation."

He looked at Gohan.

"Gohan. In only five years, you reached this level."

"You should understand your own potential now."

"This is not your limit."

"Continue training in the martial path I taught you."

Then he looked at Trunks.

"Your talent may not equal Gohan's."

"But yours is excellent as well."

"This Earth will depend on the two of you."

He prepared to leave.

"Lord Gran!"

The three of them looked at him with deep reluctance.

Gran sighed.

"Remember this."

"Do not assume peace has come just because the Android crisis is over."

"It hasn't."

"This world contains far too many disasters."

"Only by becoming strong yourselves can you live without fear."

After saying that, Gran tossed a Capsule to Gohan.

Without another word, he grabbed Bulma and disappeared from the island.

The wind blew softly.

Waves echoed around the shore.

As if Gran and young Bulma had never existed in this world at all.

"They're gone…"

"They really left…"

Future Bulma looked utterly lost.

Her heart ached.

After a moment, she suddenly remembered something.

"Gohan!"

"What did Lord Gran mean earlier?"

"Does our timeline really still have other dangers ahead?"

Gohan thought for a moment, then said gravely:

"A god like Lord Gran would know many hidden truths."

"If he said it, then it must be true."

"There's a high chance this world still faces future crises."

At those words, both Trunks and Future Bulma paled.

Gohan glanced at his missing arm.

"If I had trained seriously with my father back then…"

"The Earth would never have become like this."

"It's my fault."

He closed his eyes.

Then opened them sharply.

"But from this moment on—"

"As long as I still breathe, I will never stop training."

"I will protect Earth."

During those five years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Gran had taught him countless martial paths.

He had yet to truly master them.

"Brother Gohan, me too!"

"I'll protect Earth as well!"

Trunks' gaze was resolute.

"Good."

"Then let's protect it together."

Gohan reached out and affectionately ruffled Trunks' hair.

Seeing the warm scene, Future Bulma smiled again.

Then she suddenly remembered something else.

"Gohan!"

"Didn't Lord Gran throw you a Capsule just now?"

"Open it and see what's inside!"

"Oh, right!"

Gohan pressed the Capsule and tossed it to the ground.

Poof!

A box appeared.

He quickly opened it.

Inside was a small glass jar.

"Hm? What is this?"

He lifted the jar.

Inside were dozens of beans.

Around a hundred of them.

Future Bulma suddenly covered her mouth.

"G-Gohan…"

"Don't those beans look like the long-extinct… Senzu Beans?"

"Senzu Beans?!"

Gohan's breathing hitched.

He hurriedly opened the jar and took one out.

After examining it carefully—

"It really is Senzu Beans!!"
