"Something happened?"
Beerus's heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Whis was an Angel. If even he was saying that something had happened, then just how serious could it be?
Could it be that the Omni-King was about to play that hide-and-seek game again?
Beerus glanced at Trunks and Bulma, who were watching the scene unfold. He then turned back to Whis and hurriedly said, "Well? Spit it out!"
"It's like this…"
Whis leaned toward Beerus's ear and began whispering.
At first, Beerus's expression was relatively normal. But the more he listened, the darker his face became.
"This is what I meant by something serious!"
The moment Whis finished his final word, a dazzling purple aura suddenly erupted from Beerus's body.
Boom!
Boom!
Everything touched by the purple radiance was instantly destroyed, turning into countless specks of starlight.
"Not good!!"
Trunks's expression changed dramatically. He immediately transformed into a Super Saiyan and tightly wrapped his arms around his mother.
Little did he know that his strength was utterly insignificant before Beerus's Ninth-Level Destruction Law. It was like trying to stop a charging war chariot with nothing but his arms.
"AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"
The Ninth-Level Destruction Law struck Trunks in the back.
His body and soul began to collapse simultaneously, and he let out a scream of unbearable agony.
"Trunks!!!"
Seeing half of her son's body disappear, Bulma's eyes widened in horror.
"Lord Beerus, stop fooling around!"
Whis immediately waved his staff.
Time reversed in an instant.
Everything Beerus had destroyed returned to its original state.
Even the half of Trunks's body that had vanished was restored, as though nothing had ever happened.
"Hmph! How dare that bastard covet the life of a Supreme Kai? He's asking to be destroyed!!!"
Beerus's expression was terrifyingly grim.
Whis floated beside him and asked, "Lord Beerus, what are you going to do about that fellow from Universe 10?"
Beerus glanced at Whis but did not answer. Instead, he moved toward Trunks.
Trunks was still holding onto his mother. It took him a moment to realize what had happened.
"Huh? Wasn't I just about to be hit by that purple energy? How come nothing happened to me?"
Because of Whis's temporal power, Trunks had forgotten that half of his body had just been erased by the Ninth-Level Destruction Law.
"Boy!"
Beerus arrived in front of him.
Trunks immediately released his mother and hurriedly bowed.
"Greetings, Lord Beerus."
Bulma was equally nervous and quickly followed suit.
"Greetings, Lord Beerus."
"Did that Gran fellow tell you how to deal with Zamasu?"
When Whis had first told him about Gran, Beerus had also been somewhat skeptical about the man's identity.
But after hearing Whis's explanation and his conclusion, Beerus had accepted that Gran was most likely his counterpart's disciple from another timeline.
After all…
Who else besides someone close to them would know that the best way to lure Whis out was with delicious food?
"No… he didn't."
Trunks tried his best to suppress his fear. He took a deep breath before saying, "Lord Gran only told me to inform you about this matter. He said that you would definitely have a way to deal with it."
"…"
Beerus curled his lips.
He was already a little dissatisfied with his disciple whom he had never even met.
If Gran had chosen to have someone deliver this information to him, why hadn't he sent along the solution as well?
Still…
Beerus already knew the purpose, timing, and location of Zamasu's Zero Mortal Plan.
With that information, this matter was no longer a big problem.
Beerus looked at Trunks and asked indifferently, "You're a Saiyan?"
Whis had already told him that Trunks was a Saiyan.
Beerus wasn't surprised that there were still survivors of the Saiyan race. He had never expected Frieza to completely wipe out every last Saiyan in the universe in the first place.
In Beerus's eyes, Trunks's ordinary aura wasn't particularly impressive. However, when the boy had transformed into that golden-haired state earlier, his power had been fairly decent.
"Yes!"
"That Gran fellow is a Saiyan too?"
"Yes."
Trunks couldn't sense Beerus's aura, but he could still feel an overwhelming pressure emanating from him.
"Whis, does this timeline also have someone named Gran?"
When Whis floated down beside him, Beerus frowned and asked.
Bulma and Trunks immediately perked up their ears.
"Lord Beerus, this timeline does have a Saiyan named Gran. Unfortunately, he died when he was still very young."
"He died?"
At that moment, not only Beerus but also Bulma and Trunks were completely stunned.
In the other timeline, Gran was a candidate God of Destruction. Anyone capable of becoming a candidate God of Destruction had to be an extraordinary genius.
How could someone like that possibly have died?
"Damn it…"
Beerus sighed.
He had originally wanted to see just what kind of person Gran was—the man who had somehow convinced such a lazy version of himself to take him as a disciple.
And yet, in this timeline, that person had already been dead for years!
Still, Beerus understood that every timeline had its own differences.
"Whis, is there any way for me to meet this fellow?"
Beerus's expression became serious.
He was genuinely too curious about Gran!
He and Gran had never met, yet Gran had gone to the trouble of sending someone to deliver information about Zamasu to him.
Beerus understood very well that he was only receiving this favor because of his counterpart from another timeline.
And after learning that Gran was still quite young despite possessing terrifying strength, Beerus's curiosity had reached its absolute peak.
"I'm sorry, Lord Beerus. I cannot travel through time and space. So even if we wanted to meet that Gran fellow, I'm afraid there's no way…"
Whis suddenly stopped halfway through his sentence.
He had remembered something.
"Oh, right! He seems to be a Time Patrolman as well."
"A Time Patrolman?"
Beerus was surprised, but there was even more excitement in his eyes.
Ordinary people were forbidden from traveling through time.
But Time Patrolmen were different. They frequently traveled across different timelines to deal with criminals who interfered with the flow of time.
If Gran was a Time Patrolman, then his arrival in this timeline wouldn't technically be considered illegal.
"Lord Beerus, if you truly wish to meet him, you could release the Old Supreme Kai. Once you do that, the Old Supreme Kai can summon Chronoa."
Whis's eyes began to spin thoughtfully.
"That way, you can establish contact with Gran through Chronoa."
"That's not a bad idea!"
Beerus's eyes lit up.
But then he suddenly remembered that the Old Supreme Kai was still sealed away by him.
The moment he thought about that old geezer, Beerus's teeth began to itch with irritation.
"We're going to the Supreme Kai's Realm!"
Beerus had originally had no intention of releasing that old man.
But after learning about Zamasu, even he was beginning to feel a little uneasy about keeping the Old Supreme Kai sealed away.
He absolutely had to keep the final two Supreme Kais within his grasp!
"Okay!"
And so!
Whis took everyone and flew toward the Supreme Kai's Realm.
Along the way…
"Lord Beerus, what about those two?"
Whis glanced at Trunks and Bulma behind them.
The moment Trunks noticed that both divine beings had turned their attention toward them, he and Bulma couldn't help but tremble.
"Hmph!"
Beerus snorted coldly.
"A mere mortal actually dared to manipulate time!"
Although Beerus said this, what he truly felt inside was shock.
Ordinary people shouldn't have been capable of manipulating time at all unless they somehow managed to steal a Supreme Kai's Time Ring.
Yet Trunks and Bulma had actually accomplished it through advanced technology.
It was simply unbelievable!
"I'm sorry, Lord Beerus!"
Trunks immediately pulled his mother along and apologized.
"Hmph. I'll let you off this time. Don't let it happen again!"
What else could Beerus say?
These two mortals had indeed manipulated time, but they had also brought him information about the Zamasu incident.
Their merits and crimes essentially canceled each other out.
So, for now, he would let them go.
After all, in Universe 7, Beerus was the one who made the rules.
