Chapter 55 - Chapter 55 - No one can replace him

Evo spoke in a challenging tone, still staring up at the sky.

Some would call him insane for provoking an unknown enemy—but Evo was done with all of it. His already limited patience had evaporated long ago.

He waited… waited… and waited a bit more.

His eyes remained fixed on the sky, expecting what would come next. And his expectations were fulfilled.

The world began to shatter like glass, fragments falling like pieces of a collapsing puzzle.

It resembled a sandcastle crumbling under its own weight.

He watched everything carefully. He saw the moon split in half as if it were a fragile, broken mirror.

Stars blinked out, their lights vanishing and leaving only darkness hanging above.

The ground cracked open, forming an endless abyss.

The order that held the very foundations of existence together was collapsing.

In the end, all that remained was Evo—and a suffocating, profound darkness.

Evo remained calm despite witnessing reality fall apart around him.

Once the destruction had finished, exhaustion suddenly washed over him, along with a growing drowsiness.

His body grew heavier as he floated through the void.

He struggled to stay conscious.

But his attempts were completely futile.

The last sensation he felt was as though he were being pulled through a tube toward somewhere unknown.

Then Evo blacked out.

He awoke from his slumber only to be greeted by something familiar.

He was lying on the same bed as before. Soft morning light slipped discreetly into the room.

The nostalgic scent of coffee drifted into his nose. And finally… those voices—sweet and warm, like gentle songs to his ears and heart.

Evo sat on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his hair.

He stayed silent for a while, staring at the floor, looking profoundly bored.

After some time, he stood up and walked to the window. Pulling the curtains aside, he let the sunlight wash over him.

– So that was your plan?

He muttered as he pieced everything together. Now he understood what weapon his enemy intended to use against him.

– You want me to relive everything again, don't you?

– And probably over and over, until I finally break.

Evo covered his face with one hand as a laugh escaped his lips.

– Hahahahahah… you really have no imagination, do you?

– What an utterly uninspired plan you came up with!

His voice dripped with disdain, intentionally provoking and belittling his aggressor.

Outside the curtains, the deity clenched his nails into his palms. A heavy aura escaped him, making the palace columns rumble.

He was furious with Evo—but calmed himself soon after.

– Hahaha… keep throwing those cheap provocations, you insect.

– I want to see how long your audacity can stand.

The white-haired man ran a hand through his long hair, smiling.

– You have no idea how many times you will repeat this.

Back to Evo—history repeated itself.

He didn't try to change a single thing from before. There was no need.

This was no longer about saving anyone or doing the "right" thing.

It was a battle of sheer willpower, of keeping his heart and mind frozen solid.

His previous results had been acceptable, so Evo simply did everything exactly the same way.

He summoned the Order. Explained his plans. Warned Freya and had the two witches strike the invaders. Lured Kalistro into a trap. And in the end, eliminated Talier.

Perhaps the ending was the only part he changed.

Instead of wasting time torturing a fake copy, he killed it swiftly.

When Evo finished everything and reached the same place as Ravina and Freya—

The Deity watching from beyond the veil snapped his fingers, and everything returned to nothingness… then reset again.

And once again, Evo was forced to live through it all.

He repeated the routine with a face full of boredom and disinterest.

And so it continued: again, again, again, again, again… and again.

Once. Five times. Ten times. Twenty times. On the twenty-ninth cycle, Evo finally decided to ask something.

His heart was colder than the coldest place imaginable.

His face was blank and uninterested. He found everything more irritating than painful.

– So? Aren't you tired yet?

– I get that you're powerful, but honestly?… It's not painful or anything. It's just boring.

– It's like watching a dull, lifeless movie or play… and you force someone to watch it over and over. That's all this is.

While Evo presented the facts plainly—

The one on the other side had already snapped.

Nothing he wanted to happen had happened.

Even after twenty-nine cycles, he still didn't get the result he desired. It frustrated him in every possible way.

It drove him mad.

– Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!

He smashed his throne into pieces, kicked the columns and walls in a fury unlike anything seen before. The beings in that domain hurried around, afraid of his complete loss of control.

His closest subordinate, Norten, merely watched from a safe distance.

His eyes showed pure contempt for his master. Nothing more than an idiot who didn't know his place.

His master was a small deity—practically a newborn compared to the others.

And yet he acted as though he were mighty and all-powerful, when in truth he was nothing but trash.

A bacteria before the ancient and greater Divinities.

And especially before the greatest of them all: the Primordial Divinities.

The woman he lusted after belonged to that latter category.

Which only highlighted how stupid and naïve he truly was.

– Looks like it all ends today.

Norten sighed in relief, knowing he would soon be free from the fool tearing the palace apart with his tantrum.

– Why isn't that human crying or begging? Why?!

– He should be kneeling before me, pleading to escape that place!

– So why does he remain the same—why does he keep provoking me?!

– How dare a human commit such a blasphemy?!

Norten could only sigh and wait for his freedom, which wouldn't take long now.

Because he sensed, further away, two presences entering the domain.

His expression shifted—his smile widened, and at the same time, a shiver crawled up his spine, sweat soaking his face.

– Hah… hahah… damn it.

– That woman is a monster…

He whispered, completely pale.

Norten had a natural affinity for detecting presences before others. So he was the first to notice.

His master had no idea—focused entirely on Evo.

A female deity, also a subordinate, walked past Norten.

He called out to her.

– Manuelle!

The woman in silver armor turned back toward him.

She was a black-haired woman with blue eyes.

– Yes, Sir Norten? How may I assist?

– We will be receiving very important visitors within seconds. Please head to the palace entrance and welcome them.

Manuelle looked puzzled by his words.

But he was her superior, so all she could do was obey.

Outside, two women floated in the sky, gazing toward a flying fortress surrounded by smaller ones.

The blonde smirked.

– It seems that fool failed miserably to hurt Dani.

– Indeed, Lady Nyra. It seems the human Evo Eylam endured everything well.

– And he even pushed Tristan to the brink of madness.

The mature blonde woman beside her smiled with evident amusement.

Her name was Nyra, the Divinity of Time—one of the six Primordial Divinities.

– Let's go, Pria. Let's end this and take Dani out of that place.

Pria nodded, and the two flew toward the fortress—where someone already seemed to be waiting.

Inside the palace, Tristan foamed with rage.

All his plans had crumbled.

– I don't understand… Humans are emotionally fragile.

– He should've broken by the fifth cycle at most!

He roared, slamming his already crumbling throne. It was a miracle it hadn't collapsed entirely.

Then a mocking voice echoed through the hall.

– Well, well… what do we have here?

– It seems my beloved humiliated you at your own game, hihihihihi…

– How embarrassing.

Tristan froze, trembling uncontrollably upon hearing that arrogant, disdainful voice.

He knew exactly who it belonged to—

She was the reason he had done all of this to Evo.

The woman he so desperately coveted.

He stared toward the grand entrance as she appeared with her companion.

Everyone there bowed in respect.

Even Norten lowered his head—smiling with genuine joy.

Everyone recognized that woman—overflowing with pride and limitless beauty.

It would not be madness to call her the most beautiful of all Divinities.

Tristan tried to speak many things, but only one broken sentence escaped:

– W-why? W-W-Why are you here?

His trembling lips barely formed the words.

He knew what was coming.

He was unlucky today—everything had gone wrong for him.

But her presence was the worst of all.

She looked at him as though he were an insignificant insect. He held not a shred of value in her eyes.

– Hm? Why am I here?

– Shouldn't you already know?

She tilted her head slightly as she answered.

Her smile held no joy—only cold rage and open hostility.

– You touched something that belongs to me. And now, you will pay for it. It's that simple.

She shrugged and began walking toward him.

He heard her response and roared, even as her steps grew closer.

– Why do you give that human so much attention?! What's so special about him?! He's just a worthless human!

– Nyra, forget that stupid human! Be with me instead!

– You know how much I love you!

The attention you give him—should be mine!

His words only disgusted her more.

– Worthless?

She asked in a dangerously calm voice.

Tristan went silent as her smile vanished completely.

When she reached him—now on both knees, trembling—

She leaned forward slightly, resting her hands on her knees, her eyes locked onto his with lethal coldness.

Then she made everything crystal clear.

– Listen well. You will never replace Daniel. No one ever will.

– He is the only one—

The sole owner of my heart, and the only one worthy of my love.

– Hihihiho… and you know what else?

She chuckled, making a mocking expression.

– You don't even come close to Daniel's feet.

It's pathetic to compare the two of you.

Tristan could only listen as her merciless words—drenched in scorn—crushed him completely.

His eyes widened, shocked to the point he thought he had misheard.

– W-what… what did you say?

He asked in a voice so fragile he seemed moments away from breaking down.

Hearing that a human was better than him shattered him entirely.
