Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Everyone in the room fell silent

"What? NO FUCKING WAY! You're planning to kill her to save him?" Stiles spat in disbelief.

Carlisle fixed him with a steely stare.

"My plan is to use her blood to save Derek. That is all."

"You said he needs a lot of blood... A lot will kill her," Stiles voiced.

Carlisle leaned in slightly—voice low, urgent.

"I will not take enough to kill her. But I need more than a vial—I need the essence of the Anima Cantat bond itself. Her blood carries something unique… a resonance with Derek's life force."

He glanced down at Derek—the rise and fall of his chest growing weaker.

"If we don't act now, both he and the child will be lost."

"What do you mean? Aria's fine, the child is fine..."

"For now," Carlisle said firmly.

"But the power of their bond is more powerful than I first believed. If Derek dies… the shock could cause her body to reject the pregnancy. Or worse, it could weaken the child, leaving it susceptible to other magical forces."

"That's if she doesn't die too." Carlisle added.

"Wait what is that supposed to mean?" Stiles spat.

Carlisle sighed, turning fully to face him. "I'm saying that… if Derek dies… there's a chance it may kill her too."

"But... Derek isn't a vampire his system wasn't made to consume blood," Stiles countered like he didn't hear a single thing that Carlisle just said.

Carlisle remains calm but everybody can see that Emmett is starting to loose his cool with Stiles constant bickering. "His wolf will react to her blood. The quickest way to test this theory is by vein."

Stiles eyes grew wide in horror, "You're going to make him drink from her, and potentially risk her humanity? Are you fucking insane, she could either die or change into a moon howler herself!"

Stiles was about to continue, but at this, Carlisle finally snapped. He whirled to face Stiles fully, eyes blazing.

"Stiles, listen to me," he said, his voice low and harsh. "Derek is dying. This is his only chance—his last chance. If you really care about him, then you will shut your mouth and let me save him."

Just as he was about to say something else, Emmett snarled at Scott. "Take you friend out for here or I will have it no other way as to rip his damn throat out!" Emmett's eyes are glowing.

Stiles paled but wisely stopped talking. Scott reached out, putting a cautious hand on his friend's arm.

"Stiles, come on. Let's go outside."

"And anyone who has a problem with Carlisle's medical method is free to join them," Edward warned.

Most left, including all the wolves. None of them had the stomach to watch one of their brothers consume blood. Leaving only the Salvatore brothers and the Cullens behind in the room.

The room fell silent—thick with tension and unspoken fear. The fire in the hearth crackled low, casting long shadows over the faces of those who remained.

Carlisle turned back to Derek—his expression softening for just a moment as he reached out, brushing a hand over Derek's forehead. His skin was cold. Too cold.

Alice stepped forward, holding out a small silver bowl. "Here," she said quietly,* voice barely above a whisper.

Carlisle nodded, then looked to Aria—who had been standing frozen near the door, her arms wrapped around herself like she was holding her own pieces together.

"Aria…" he said gently, "I need you now."

She didn't move at first—her breath caught in her throat.

Then—

One step.

Then another.

Until she stood beside him, looking down at the man she loved—the father of her unborn child—fighting not to slip away into darkness.

"Will it hurt?" she asked softly.

"Yes," Carlisle admitted, "but only for a moment."

He took her hand—not rough, but with purpose—and guided it over the bowl.

"Your blood carries his life now as much as your own," he murmured. "This isn't just medicine… it's magic. Love made flesh."

Aria closed her eyes.

And nodded.
