Chapter 65 - Chapter 64: Two Bastards

Chapter 64: Two Bastards

The Amethyst Winged Lion King's wings spewed scorching violet flames, and its already rapid speed skyrocketed. In an instant, it pulled far ahead of Cai Die. Its heterochromatic eyes were burning with cruelty and locked fiercely on the small figure below. With a low roar, it opened its massive, fanged jaws and bit down toward Yao Yan.

It could already taste the sweet aroma in its mouth—just a couple of chews and it would savor the flavor.

But there was no "after."

?!

The Amethyst Winged Lion King suddenly realized—it couldn't close its jaws. Its previously lightning-fast dive had suddenly slowed. That tiny "ant" below was holding its maw open with both hands! Shock and rage flared in its beast eyes, but before it could react, a bronze-colored glow erupted from Yao Yan's body. A terrifying power exploded from him.

"Up!"

Yao Yan's muscles tensed, his skin radiating a dense bronze glow, glimmering with silver. With a roar, he gripped the lion's fangs and lifted it clean into the air—then smashed it down hard into the ground. His violent power poured out without restraint.

BOOM!

The ground shattered instantly. Cracks spread in all directions, and shockwaves rippled outward, unleashing a powerful visual impact.

Yao Yan didn't let up. He lunged forward, grabbed the lion's flaming spiral horn, and ignoring the searing heat, slammed its head side to side like a madman. In just a few seconds, he smashed it a dozen times before the stunned lion finally broke free.

It immediately backed off, shocked and furious. It stared at Yao Yan—how could this "ant" have such monstrous strength? Was he some high-rank magical beast in human form?

But his aura clearly wasn't!

Just then—

Cai Die, who had been charging up, launched her killing blow in a fit of rage. This time, she held nothing back. As her full power erupted, the sky turned violet-blue. A massive ghostly blue serpent descended from the heavens, maw wide open as it bit down on the lion. The terrifying energy shattered its tough crystal hide.

ROAR!

The lion now felt the threat of death. It let out a desperate roar as its body emitted brilliant light—but it was too late. Cai Die's technique landed with full force, slamming the lion hard into the ground.

BOOM!

As it crashed, a thunderous explosion echoed across heaven and earth. Wild energy surged outward like a tidal wave.

Cai Die didn't care about the outcome. As soon as she released her attack, she dashed over to Yao Yan and carefully checked him. Once she confirmed he was unscathed, she clutched her chest in relief. Then, she stared at him strangely—she had never expected him to be so ridiculously strong, to the point of overpowering a Tier 6 magical beast with pure physical might.

She couldn't help but ask, "Young Master, are you a beast in human form?"

Only transformed magical beasts could possess such terrifying bodies. Without Dou Qi, a human could never match a magical beast physically.

"Not done yet. Save your questions for later."

Yao Yan replied calmly, his gaze already fixed on the battlefield.

As the violent energy dissipated, the battered beast came into view. The Amethyst Winged Lion King had lost all its former might. Its dazzling crystal armor was shattered, except for the horn on its head. Cracks spread across its back, and one of its wings was broken. Dark blood poured from its wounds—it looked absolutely miserable.

The lion glared at the two unharmed "travelers" in disbelief, almost grinding its teeth to dust.

Humans are so damned despicable!

Pretending to be weak, waiting for it to strike first… And they call themselves strong? What about dignity?

Two bastards!

Still, it wasn't dead. Not yet. And that surprised Yao Yan. Even after that combo, the beast was still kicking. Its defenses really were as tough as Yao Lao once praised.

But Yao Yan quickly reconsidered. If they kept fighting, the lion would go all-out. A Tier 6 beast fighting for its life could seriously wound either of them.

All for a Tier 6 magic core? Not worth it.

He stepped forward and said, "Amethyst Winged Lion King, we're just passing through. We don't want trouble. Let's end this here, shall we?"

"You bastards! Beat me to a pulp and now you want to walk away?!"

The lion was boiling with rage, especially with Cai Die's venom still coursing through its veins. Its glowing eyes stared venomously at them, howling inwardly—but it didn't say a word. Because it knew if this continued… it would die.

But letting them go like this? That was hard to swallow.

Yao Yan raised his palm, summoning the golden Illusory Gold Flame. His eyes turned cold as he said firmly, "If you want to continue, we're happy to oblige. But the next round will be to the death."

The threat was crystal clear.

?!

The lion's pupils shrank. It stared at the golden flame in Yao Yan's hand—it could sense the violent aura of a Tier 7 beast. As a fire-type beast itself, its sensitivity to flame was acute. That golden fire was clearly stronger than its own violet source flame.

"You… You're an alchemist?!"

The lion's ferocious aura paused as it growled.

Only alchemists refined beast flames—ordinary cultivators wouldn't risk it. The gains were too small compared to the risk of being burned alive.

"A peak Tier 5 alchemist," Yao Yan said with a calm smile. "If the Lion King wants pills made, I'd be open to it—if the price is right."

He was well aware this beast had been hoarding rare herbs for years. If it was willing to be milked for profit, he wouldn't mind stopping by again.

The lion's expression shifted. It hadn't expected Yao Yan's alchemy to be so advanced—Tier 5 was the highest in the Jia Ma Empire.

It fell silent. Though its body ached, it suppressed its fury and asked in a low voice, "Can you refine medicine… for magical beast cubs?"

"…I can."

Yao Yan blinked, then gave a firm answer.
