Heat flooded Ava's cheeks. She looked at Anthonio's smug expression , and was filled with shame.
She was proud. And she knew it. She shouldn't have said what she said. The subsidy, was a gift. It was the first the hospital had given anyone in many years, since Marcus' left( Ava wasn't convinced yet, he was dead). And here was Anthonio, trying to make her understand his rules, and suddenly, she asks a dumb question. Everyone in the room, felt her shame too, and no one dared to be her spokesman.
Dr Lian was the first to speak Looking at Ava, he released his breath, slowly, trying to rid himself of disappointment.
"Miss Ava understands the implications of violating her own side of the agreement, l assure you, Mr Anthonio, she understands every word in that document. She signed too, and she'll keep hers." Turning to Ava's already sullen face. "Won't you Ava?"
Ava nodded. " l will Mr Anthonio. There'll be no need to work a life time for you. I promise."
Anthonio nodded, and smiled.
