"Anatuya, Lafarhul," I began, my tone remained casual as if I were introducing a guest for tea rather than someone far more… complicated. "This is Rui. She's someone I've known for a long time, and we've recently reunited." I gave Rui a brief glance before continuing, "She's also the Undead who will be working with us from now on."
Rui lifted her hand in a small wave, her expression bright and unrestrained in a way that didn't quite match the unsettling aura surrounding her.
"Hiya! Nice to meet you all~!"
Her voice carried a genuine warmth and excitement, which only made the faint distortion trailing her figure—the subtle glitching afterimages and that dim, eerie glow—stand out even more.
Of course, I couldn't still get used to this new Rui, since the Rui I knew back then would bow politely and answer with a soft voice filled with respect, which should be the cause of the environment she lived in before she got into the same high school with me.
