Chapter 31 - WHEN TIME BEGINS TO SPEAK

It had been three days since Jun-yeol's exile. But to Eun-bi, it felt like three long seasons without sunlight.

The Kang residence had grown quieter than ever.Lady Im was gone, the noble guests had stopped visiting, and the morning air carried a strange chill — as if even the world itself had lost something.

Eun-bi sat in her small room, staring at the wooden pen on her desk.It was still, yet somehow… alive.

"I don't even know where to start," she whispered, opening a blank page."But if writing can make me stronger, then… I'll write."

Her hand trembled as the pen touched paper.Every word she wrote felt like reopening an old wound.

If this love is wrong, why does it feel so right? If the world rejects us, why does my heart still wait?

The ink shimmered faintly — not black this time, but a soft blue light, like the glow of the night sky.

Eun-bi blinked."Eh? Don't tell me you're acting weird again…"

But the light only grew stronger.A gentle wind stirred through the room, swirling loose sheets of paper into the air.

"Not now… please, not now…" she pleaded, panic rising.

But the pen shook violently, writing on its own — words pouring out in glowing blue ink:

Two hearts. Two times.A love that refuses to end.

Far to the north, Jun-yeol sat inside a small tent, staring at the cold, endless sky.The air bit into his skin, but his mind was elsewhere — always on her.

"Eun-bi…"

He took out a small scroll he had hidden in his robes — the note Eun-bi had slipped to him before he left. But tonight, the ink on it shimmered softly, the same color as Eun-bi's glowing pen.

Blue light bled from the letters, swirling into mist.Jun-yeol froze — then whispered, awed but unafraid,

"Is that… you?"

And from within the mist came a faint voice — soft, distant, carried by the wind:

My lord… if our love is strong enough, time itself cannot separate us.

Jun-yeol closed his eyes, and for the first time, a tear slid down his cheek."Then I'll wait… until time gives up."

Back in Joseon, the light in Eun-bi's room grew brighter. The pen spun in the air, then fell gently onto the paper, leaving behind glowing words.

She stared — heart pounding. It wasn't her handwriting.

It was Jun-yeol's.

I'm still here.

Her breath caught."Jun-yeol… is this real? Can you hear me?"

The pen moved again, writing quickly:

If you write, I can answer.

With trembling hands, Eun-bi scribbled back:

Are you safe?

The pen replied:

No. But I'm enduring. Because I believe someday you'll write a path back to me.

Tears fell onto the page, mixing with the ink — but the pen didn't stop.

Don't cry. I still love your smile, even from far away.

Eun-bi let out a shaky laugh between sobs."You're still saying sweet things even when you're exiled, huh, my lord?"

The pen hesitated for a moment, then wrote again — the letters glowing brighter than before:

If you keep writing, time will find a way to bring us together again.

And before Eun-bi could respond, the pen burst into a shower of glowing fragments, filling the room with blue light.Papers fluttered around her, ink rising off the page, forming a circle of living words that shimmered like stars.

Eun-bi looked up, tears still falling, but a small smile forming on her lips.

"Alright then… if the world wants to rewrite destiny, I'll be the one to hold the pen."

She gripped it tightly. And this time — without hesitation — she began to write.

Far away, under the same sky,two faint blue lights — one in Joseon, one in the frozen north —pulsed in perfect rhythm.

As if, at last…time itself was listening.
