World Overview
In this world, Ghosts invaded reality, and there are five rifts—that connected the intangible dimension (Where Ghosts originally live) and the tangible dimension (Where we live). Also, the world will be closer to the steampunk era rather than medieval, so there will be guns, trains, etc.

Countries
All countries/kingdoms across the world are located far away from the rift to avoid too much exposure to concentrated mana. Most were working together to reclaim lost territories and actively create bases near the rifts. (It's basically a survival era for Humanity.)

Rift of Dusk
It's the thing that connected both dimensions.
Imagine a massive hurricane with green clouds that spanned fifty miles in radius, where countless Ghosts from their habitat circled the eye. Yes, this is where the Alpha Ghosts (Or Ghosts/Supernaturals that are referenced from real life Ghosts will be—boogeyman, vampire, La Llorona, nun, pocong, etc) that want to take over our reality gathered.
So, it's easy to tell if the world had already taken over or not just by seeing how big the rift was.

Deklan can capture all Ghosts using his unique skill, which becomes a Ghost Resident in his territory.

Ghost Ranks
Iron (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
Normal Ghosts / Baby Ghosts (Mostly taken the form of wraiths)
Bronze (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
20-year-old Ghosts that have a Minor Presence (Induce uncanny feeling, flickering lights, etc), and a Paranormal Heart.
Silver (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
50 years old. More tangible and has a solid physique, Major Presence, can possess inanimate objects. (If you like horror, think of the Ghosts who can play music, move doors, and such.)
Gold (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
100 years old. Known as Poltergeist. More monstrous, can possess living beings, have a Paranormal Seal, and earn a name.
Platinum (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 3-star)
200 years old. A mutation of the body, can possess living beings for months, and a greater Paranormal Seal.
Diamond (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 3-star)
500 years. Perfected mutation can possess living beings for years/ decades (Nigh-permanent), can turn inanimate things into supernatural things, and create underlings.
Ruby (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 3-star)
1000 years. Terror Anima (A powerful, unique artifact of its own, think like a special weapon specially for its power), and gain Anima Opening (Ultimate skill from their Terror Anima).
Demon (Sub-ranks: Lesser Demon, Major Demon, Archdemon)
Come from Primordial times, Manifestation (Has a fleshy body fully connected to the tangible dimension), and Transcendence to a higher being.

Apprentice
Senior Apprentice
Apprentices felt mana for the first time, and their maturity dictates their stages.
Iron (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
Enhance the body with mana for supernatural strength.
Bronze (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
Establish Mana Core, increasing firepower and decreasing casting speed. Unlock advanced spells.
Silver (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
Infuse aura to weapons, and open their Third Eye. Hard for Ghosts to possess and keener senses to the supernaturals.
Gold (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 5-star)
Unlock Possession (Basically transformation to their ghostly form by connecting their soul to the intangible dimension and drawing power from it.)
Platinum (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 3-star)
Extend the duration of Possession and Paranormal Art.
Diamond (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 3-star)
Complete maturity of Possession, and cannot be possessed by Ghosts.
Ruby (Sub-ranks: 1-star to 3-star)
Unlock Spiritual Projection.
Grand Exorcist (Sub-ranks: Lesser, Major, Supreme)
Transcendence to a higher being.

Null Zone
In order to claim the tangible dimension and make it their own, Ghosts need to expand the five Rifts of Dusks. To do that, they will take advantage of thinning dimension fabric—across the world to create a Null Zone (Basically a dungeon, but instead of being brought to another place, it was forced to manifest in the real world).
Types:
Lesser Null Zone. (Forced manifestation)
Imagine two places forced to merge into one. For ex: A forest and a city; the Null Zone would be filled with trees puncturing buildings haphazardly.
Greater Null Zone.
Now, the manifestation became harmony. It's not haphazard anymore, and the will of the Alpha Ghost guarding it will manifest in various, magical ways.
Perfected Null Zone.
It turned into another place entirely with different, chaotic terrains. For ex: Sea of Blood, etc.
Hell.
Strong Ghosts from the intangible dimension will descend, and the Null Zone will transition to a Rift of Dusk. (Aka. You're fucked, a step close to losing your world.)

Additional Notes
Ghosts and Humans might look the same, but the composition of their bodies is different. One is made entirely of mana, so their physique is stronger—while the other can interact with mana, so their range of spells is vast.
Red color in Ghosts is usually a sign that the Ghost is more hostile and bloodthirsty.
Normal Ghosts can be unique with no copy, but Alpha Ghosts are always unique with no copy.
Exorcists must not learn more than three spells lest they go insane, since mana is not native to the tangible dimension.
Ghosts can leave Null Zones even without needing it to break (No dungeon break. It's a free-for-all, but they would rather stay inside unless specifically told so to attack humans outside.)
The merger of the two dimensions is known to all.
Oh, and also, did I mention Deklan swings both ways? No, not like that. But he can fall in love with both women and Ghosts. (He watched so many horror movies that he didn't mind doing it with Ghosts. Just that, it's a little bit colder than doing it with women.)
