Chapter 369: To Dragon Island!!
The reason Kenji had suddenly proposed postponing his match with the Southeast Elite was far from simple curiosity. He had his own calculations.
First, he had been dying to see the island-sized Giant Dragonite with his own eyes ever since Namgung Xi first mentioned it.
But second, and more importantly, a single name was echoing in the back of his mind.
Mewtwo!!!
He still remembered the encounter on Black Thunder Mountain. Raikou had described being hunted by a man-made monster under Team Rocket's control. Back then, that Mewtwo was already powerful enough to toy with a Legendary Beast. If it hadn't suffered a mechanical failure in its control harness at the critical moment, Raikou might not have escaped at all.
Several months had passed since then. Team Rocket's control technology would have only become more refined and stable.
If they were launching a full-scale assault on Dragon Island now, there was a high probability they were bringing their ultimate weapon with them.
It was a gamble of "what if."
If Team Rocket really had a perfected Mewtwo—a being whose power was rumored to be at the absolute Master-rank ceiling—then even a "Guardian Deity" as massive as a mountain might not be enough to guarantee the island's safety.
Team Rocket had already breached the perimeter. There was no time to waste.
Kenji and Namgung Xi mounted her Dragonite, Lulu. With a powerful beat of its wings, the dragon rocketed southward toward the ocean.
While in flight, Kenji sent a quick message to Mason Chu, explaining the emergency and apologizing for the last-minute change. Mason Chu, being an Elite of the League, understood the threat posed by Team Rocket and sent a supportive reply, assuring Kenji that the League was already mobilizing. He revealed that several Elite-rank prosecutors and high-level border squads were already en route to provide backup.
Lulu was flying at full tilt. According to Namgung Xi, the trip from the Capital to the southern mist zone would take approximately four hours.
For Namgung Xi, those four hours were an eternity of torture. She was glued to her phone, maintaining a frantic line of communication with the main family on the island.
Through the choppy data feed, Kenji and Namgung Xi began to piece together the situation on the ground.
Team Rocket had been planning this for years. The moment their fleet was detected, they dove straight into the localized "Fog Zone" surrounding the island, using high-tech navigation to bypass the natural defenses.
"Is that... Suicune!!! —"
"And in the air??! Articuno????!"
Namgung Xi stared at the video feed on her screen, her hands covering her mouth as she let out a horrified gasp.
Kenji leaned in to look. The video showed the coastline of Dragon Island, the sea churning with white-capped waves.
Treading atop the water were two sleek, blue quadrupeds with white diamond markings and long, purple manes flowing in the wind. Two ribbon-like white tails swirled around them.
Kenji's pupils contracted. Suicune, the legendary Aurora Pokémon! And there were two of them!!!
But the horror didn't stop at the water's edge. In the sky above the Suicune, three birds with icy-blue plumage and long, flowing tails circled like vultures.
Three Articuno!!!
Kenji's jaw tightened. Two Suicunes and three Articunos were currently engaged in a brutal dogfight with a squadron of the island's Dragonites. The air was a chaotic mess of beams, blasts, and shockwaves that sent massive plumes of water exploding from the ocean.
Kenji studied the five "Legendaries" in the video closely.
He spotted the anomaly almost immediately.
Whether it was the Articunos or the Suicunes, their eyes were a solid, glowing red—devoid of any spark of life or individual soul. They looked numb, almost mechanical.
They didn't move like living creatures; they moved like high-precision machines encased in organic shells.
Genetic Cloning!!!
The word flashed in Kenji's mind like a neon sign. He remembered the failures he'd seen in the laboratory on the Myanmar border. Back then, Team Rocket's cloning tech was volatile and prone to defects.
But it seemed they had finally perfected the process. They were no longer just cloning common species; they were mass-producing Legendaries.
As for where the DNA for these clones came from? Mewtwo. With a weapon of Mewtwo's caliber, harvesting DNA from "lesser" Legendaries was like picking fruit from a tree. As long as they avoided the First-Class Gods like Ho-Oh or Rayquaza, Team Rocket was effectively playing God.
If they were allowed to continue this unchecked, the world was headed for a biological apocalypse.
"What's the status of the island itself?" Kenji asked.
Namgung Xi's face was pale. The footage was clearly shaking her. "The Guardian Deity is already out... it's fighting an 'unknown Pokémon.' My father says the creature is incredibly strong—even the Deity can't seem to overwhelm it quickly."
"Meanwhile," she continued, her voice trembling, "a detachment of Team Rocket grunts with more of those 'Legendaries' is pushing toward the main settlement. The League reinforcements are engaging the main fleet, but the mist is making it a mess."
It was a war zone. And the "unknown Pokémon" was almost certainly Mewtwo.
"Don't panic," Kenji said, his voice dropping into a focused, battle-ready tone. "I'm going ahead. I can move faster than Lulu. Don't worry, we're going to hold that line."
Kenji didn't wait for a response. He unclipped Beedrill's ball and released it mid-air.
The golden wasp materialized, and Kenji expertly latched onto its frame.
"Be careful!" Namgung Xi shouted after him, her eyes full of conflict.
Kenji gave her a sharp nod, pointed toward the horizon, and Beedrill exploded into motion. In a single heartbeat, the distance between them and the Dragonite widened into a canyon of air.
Within seconds, the silhouette of Namgung Xi and Lulu had vanished behind them.
What should have been a two-hour flight was compressed into a twenty-minute blur. Beedrill moved with such velocity that it had to generate a localized air-pocket just to prevent Kenji from being torn apart by the G-force.
Kenji looked down. Below him, the vast ocean was being swallowed by a wall of unnaturally thick, white mist—the Fog Zone of Dragon Island.
KRA-KOOM!!!! —
A massive explosion erupted from within the fog, the sound reaching Kenji even at this altitude.
The air was thick with a crushing, divine pressure that made the very atmosphere feel heavy. It was the aura of the apex, a warning to any who dared enter the territory of gods.
"Let's go," Kenji said, patting Beedrill's carapace. His hands were steady, but his eyes were sharp with anticipation.
He was about to face the ultimate creations of both nature and science.
Bzzzt... bzzzt...
Kenji paused, looking down at his belt.
The Poké Ball containing Arbok—the creature born from the Deity's own DNA—was vibrating violently. It wasn't a call for release; it was a resonance.
The snake was reacting to its origin.
