Chapter 407: The Debut!! Mega Gyarados!!
Mason Chu raised his arm, revealing his polished Mega Ring. With a voice full of
battle-hardened resolve, he shouted his incantation. Steelix let out a roar that
shook the very foundations of the tower as prismatic light erupted from its
body, coiling around its metallic frame like a whirlwind of rainbows.
Seeing this, Kenji didn't hesitate. He raised his left wrist, touching the Key
Stone set into his Mega Bracelet.
"Power beyond limits!! Ferocity unchained!! Break your shackles and drown the
world in the depths of your fury!! Sovereign of the Seas!!! Gyarados! MEGA
EVOLVE!!!!"
"ROAAAARRRRR!!!!! —"
Gyarados let out a deafening roar. The Gyaradosite embedded in its
trident-shaped crest flared with blinding intensity, engulfing the massive
serpent in a cocoon of light.
KRA-KOOM!!!! —
Mason's partner completed the transformation first.
"STEEL!!!! —"
Mega Steelix roared as the white light shattered, revealing a form that made the
original look like a hatchling. Its already massive body had expanded even
further, its silver-gray hide shimmering with a cold, unforgiving metallic
luster.
Its eyes had shifted from red to a piercing, crystalline blue. A row of
gear-like, serrated teeth protruded from its massive jaws. Most strikingly, the
jagged stone spikes that once lined its body had been replaced by dreamlike,
multi-colored crystalline structures. Even its tail had transformed into a club
of shimmering gems.
The segments of its body without crystals were now adorned with glowing blue
hexagonal patterns, lending the Iron Snake an air of ancient, technological
mystery.
As Mega Steelix roared, the metallic debris circling its neck began to spin at a
high frequency. Its blue eyes burned with the fire of a warrior as it glared at
the still-transforming Gyarados.

The shift in ability was notable. While it lost the raw power of Sheer Force,

As Kenji scanned the stats, his own partner's transformation hit its zenith.

The familiar roar of the Sea Sovereign tore through the arena.
The light of evolution didn't just fade; it exploded outward. But what greeted
the spectators wasn't just a Pokémon—it was a literal tidal wave. A massive
volume of seawater erupted from the arena's environmental systems, crashing
across the floor and drenching the entire battlefield.
Standing amidst the newly formed swamp was Mega Gyarados.
Unlike the Mega Steelix, Gyarados didn't grow significantly longer. In fact, it
looked more compact, its upper body becoming immensely thick and muscular. Its
whiskers had grown to incredible lengths, swaying like whips, and its face had
twisted into a mask of pure, demonic aggression. The trident crest on its
forehead had turned a bottomless, matte black.
Large, pale-yellow fins resembling bat wings had erupted from its sides. These
weren't just for balance; they contained powerful high-pressure vents. By
ejecting jets of water through these "wings," Mega Gyarados could achieve
Mach-level speeds even on solid ground. In the water, it was a blur that could
outrun a torpedo.
Mega Evolution provided a terrifying surge in power, but the influx of energy
often warped a Pokémon's mind. The Mega Gyarados was known in lore for its
extreme brutality; many individuals lost their sanity upon transforming,
becoming mindless engines of destruction that destroyed everything in their
path.
However, Kenji's Gyarados, while noticeably more irritable and bloodthirsty,
remained focused. Years of "discipline" under Beedrill's sting had forged a
mental resilience that allowed it to keep its higher cognitive functions even
while the Mega energy screamed for blood.
"ROAAAARRRR!!!!! —"
Mega Gyarados reared up, its massive side-fins unfurling to their full extent.
The yellow membranes blotted out the arena lights, casting a shadow of doom over
the field. It stared at Mega Steelix with burning, crimson pupils, its gaze
filled with a cold promise of annihilation.
The stat panel flickered to life before Kenji's eyes.
