Chapter 411: Mega Gyarados vs. Mega Steelix! (Part 4)
The Whirlpool was more than just a spinning mass of water; it generated a
terrifying centripetal force, a liquid gravity that sought to crush and pin
anything within its radius.
Mega Gyarados's output was so high that the Whirlpool blanketed nearly a third
of the arena, instantly snaring the rolling Mega Steelix.
Seawater roared in a high-speed spiral, the suction dragging the Iron Snake
toward the crushing pressure of the vortex's core.
Mega Steelix maintained its Rollout state, its massive weight and rotational
inertia fighting a desperate battle against the current. The kinetic force of
its spin was immense, but the Whirlpool was a persistent drain, slowly but
surely bleeding away its momentum and slowing its advance to a crawl.
"Hydro Pump!!! —"
"ROAAAARRRR!!!! —"
BOOM!!! —
Another pillar of high-pressure water blasted downward.
At its current speed, trapped within the vortex, Mega Steelix had almost zero
chance of evading a direct hit from the aerial serpent.
"Earth Power!!!! —"
BANG!!!! —
Suddenly, the floor beneath the vortex erupted. A massive stone pillar burst
through the sand and water, striking Mega Steelix from below with the force of a
tectonic shift.
With a thunderous crash, the Iron Snake was physically bucked out of the
Whirlpool's grip, launched into the air by the very stone that sought to impale
it.
It was a brilliant maneuver by Mason Chu, using his own attack to "eject" his
partner from a deathtrap. The move allowed Mega Steelix to bypass the Hydro Pump
entirely, soaring through the mist.
"Now!!! Steel Meteor!!"
BANG!!!! —
Mason timed the second ejection perfectly. Another stone pillar erupted at an
angle, striking the mid-air ball of iron and launching it straight at Mega
Gyarados in the sky.
KRA-KOOM!!! —
The Steel Meteor connected. It was a direct, bone-shattering hit to Mega
Gyarados's flank.
The Sea Sovereign let out a roar of pain, its monstrous expression twisting into
a mask of pure agony and fury.
A faint, almost imperceptible trail of dark purple smoke erupted from Mega
Gyarados's scales. Its silhouette flickered, becoming momentarily translucent.
Radiant Edge of Night triggered!
If not for the 2.5 seconds of absolute invulnerability granted by the item, that
high-momentum, Champion-level Steel Meteor might have ended the fight right then
and there.
Mega Gyarados stabilized itself mid-air, its gaze locking onto the Iron Snake
below. The look in its eyes was no longer that of a competitor. It was the look
of an apex predator that had decided to end a world.
"Mega Gyarados!! Outrage! Thrash!!!!"
"ROAAAARRRRR!!!!! —"
As Kenji's voice echoed through the link, Mega Gyarados's pupils dilated until
its eyes were twin pools of boiling, incandescent blood. A crimson-and-black
aura erupted from its body, vibrating with such intensity that it felt like a
physical heartbeat thrumming through the stadium.
The effect of Outrage was simple: absolute, unbridled destruction. But combining
it with Thrash—essentially the Normal-type equivalent of the same madness—pushed
the Pokémon past the point of no return.
The Mega energy, already straining the serpent's mind, was now joined by two
layers of biological fury. The final thread of Gyarados's sanity snapped. It had
entered a state of "Total Berserk," becoming a mindless engine of slaughter that
existed only to erase whatever was in front of it.
KRA-KOOM!!!! —
The sheer weight of Gyarados's aura alone caused the air in the arena to
detonate. A shockwave rippled outward, rattling the energy shields and sending a
drone of low-frequency terror through the hearts of the spectators.
Mega Gyarados panted, steam hissing from its side-vents. It was no longer
listening to commands; it was a beast acting on raw, murderous instinct. If it
were unleashed on a city in this state, there would be no survivors.
"Mega Gyarados!! Raging Tide: Outrage Slaughter!!!!"
The ultimate combo. Thrash + Outrage + Lash Out + Frustration.
By channeling the madness of Thrash and Outrage, Kenji aimed to distill every
ounce of the serpent's ancestral brutality. Then, by fueling that energy with
the moves Lash Out (which doubles in power if stats are lowered) and Frustration
(which scales with a lack of bond), he had created a move that turned raw,
negative emotional energy into pure kinetic destruction.
It was a move Kenji had developed specifically for the Mega Form. It was his
newest nuclear option—a move so powerful that no Pokémon below the Master tier
could realistically survive a direct hit.
Even a Level 99 Champion like Mega Steelix would be reduced to slag if the hit
landed. In fact, Kenji doubted many Master-rank Pokémon would dare to tank this
without a perfect defense.
But absolute power required an absolute sacrifice.
First, the move was dangerously unstable. It wasn't the move itself that
wavered, but the Pokémon using it. Once Mega Gyarados unleashed this, it would
be in a state of total, mindless rage, potentially attacking friend and foe
alike.
Kenji could only pray that the remaining sliver of the Mega Link would allow him
to point this "living bomb" in the right direction. He focused his mind, pouring
his own resolve through the stone, trying to guide the tsunami of hatred toward
the iron target.
