EMMA'S POVs

The morning came with a thin, brittle light, gray clouds stretched across the sky like a warning. Emma woke to the persistent hum of the city, faint yet undeniable, a reminder that life continued regardless of the storms brewing above and below. She lay in bed for a moment longer, listening.

Damian was already awake, his breathing steady beside her. She could feel his alertness even in sleep, a subtle tension in the air that marked him as always ready, always anticipating.

"I had another dream," Emma said, voice soft, almost a whisper.

Damian turned his head to look at her, eyes narrowing slightly in curiosity. "About Sterling?"

"No. About… everything." She struggled for words. "Mountains, snow, falling, and standing again. I don't understand it."

"Dreams are fragments," Damian said. "Pieces of the mind trying to reconcile reality and possibility. But sometimes they are warnings too."

Emma turned to face him, shoulders tense. "Do you think it's warning?"
