Chapter 76 - The Northern Expedition to Chenyu Valley

The founding celebration lasted for an entire day.

The next morning, everything seemed to return to normal—everyone was once again busy with their own affairs.

The Millelith soldiers posted new decrees one after another in the public announcement area on Yujing Terrace, proclaiming the newly established laws.

But most of the common folk couldn't read.

So, Jiang Yan assigned a Millelith soldier to stand guard there, whose sole duty was to read the laws aloud.

The rest of the adepti weren't idle either.

Ganyu and Guizhong entered the Ministry of Civil Affairs to assist Jiang Yan in handling administrative affairs.

Among the Eight Departments, Heulia took up the post of supervisor, tasked with oversight.

At the same time, Jiang Yan secretly began training a special division of the Millelith.

When he first founded the Millelith, he already had this in mind:

to divide them into two forces—one for maintaining law and order in the city, and another as an intelligence unit.

This intelligence branch, code-named "020," had already begun spreading throughout Liyue, infiltrating various industries and communities.

It could be said that, if Jiang Yan wished, he could learn information about anyone.

But his ambition did not end there.

He wanted to expand the Millelith even further—

to send them into other nations as spies and informants.

However, that would come later.

For now, except for Liyue, the rest of the world was still engulfed in war.

If one counted from the time Morax first founded the Liyue tribe, the Archon War had only been raging for about seven hundred years.

Jiang Yan remembered clearly—it was said that the Archon War lasted a full millennium.

Several days later, Jiang Yan found Morax, who was leisurely drinking tea in Jueyun Karst.

"Tsk tsk tsk… Lord Rex Lapis, you're really enjoying the good life, huh?"

Jiang Yan sat down with a teasing grin.

"You, the Grand Chancellor of Liyue, are not in Liyue managing affairs—what brings you here?"

Morax spoke calmly, though he still poured Jiang Yan a cup of tea.

He knew from experience—if he didn't, this shameless fellow would just help himself anyway.

"So, Morax," Jiang Yan said, sipping his tea, "isn't it about time you thought about what comes next?"

"Hmm… yes, I suppose it is."

Morax fell into thought, looking up at the sky.

Seven hundred years ago, a voice had resounded from the heavens, dividing the world into seven domains.

Each domain's gods were to battle one another until only one victor remained—

that victor would become the ruling Archon of that land.

That was how the Archon War began.

Now, within the lands of Liyue, there was only one region left unconquered—

the Chenyu Valley, located northwest of Qingce Village.

"So," Morax asked suddenly, "what do you think I should do?

Should I take up this mantle of ruler?"

Jiang Yan paused, the hand holding his teacup stopping midair.

"Can you defeat the one above the heavens?"

He didn't answer directly, but asked his own question.

"By reason alone—no, I cannot."

Morax smiled bitterly.

"Then there's nothing else to say," Jiang Yan shrugged, setting down his cup.

"If you can't defeat the one above, then at least become the victor of this war."

Morax remained silent for a long while, then finally sighed.

"Very well… we'll fight."

Jiang Yan smiled faintly, saying nothing more.

A week later, large numbers of Millelith soldiers were secretly dispatched toward Chenyu Valley.

The Millelith armies stationed in Qingce mobilized rapidly along the northwest border.

This battle would be Liyue's War of Founding!

Both the gods and the armies of Liyue needed to show their might.

From Chenyu Valley came the distant roars of agitated gods—they had sensed what was coming.

A day later, Morax, Jiang Yan, and Azhdaha—three beings of divine might—arrived on the battlefield.

Behind them followed the Ten Great Adepti, including Mountain Shaper and Cloud Retainer, each a being of immense power.

It was almost unimaginable—such a host of strength, all gathered merely to conquer one small Chenyu Valley.

In the distance, the gods of Sumeru's Rainforest and Fontaine's Marshlands—watching this rising nation—could not help but feel solemn.

In the eastern reaches of Sumeru's rainforest, near its border,

the Red King stood at the head of his armies.

Though Liyue claimed their march was merely against Chenyu Valley,

he didn't believe for a moment that this was all.

Such a massive mobilization—just for that? Impossible.

He began to fortify his defenses, wary of invasion.

At the border near Qingce Village,

fifty thousand Millelith soldiers stood ready, spears in hand, eyes burning with ferocity.

These were the elites personally drilled by Jiang Yan himself—

forged through countless battles, each one baptized by the blood of demon tribes.

To create a single elite unit was to erase an entire monster tribe from the map.

Their existence was written in blood and conquest.

"My lord, give the order!"

Jiang Yan stood beside Morax, awaiting his command.

"Hmm."

Morax nodded, and the Vortex Vanquisher formed in his hand.

"Advance—northward! To Chenyu Valley!"

With his spear pointing toward the horizon, Morax's deep, steady voice echoed in every soldier's ears.

"Hah!"

"Where the Lord's spear points, none shall stand before us!"

"The rock stands firm—unyielding and eternal!"

"The rock stands firm—unyielding and eternal!!"

Tens of thousands roared as one—their shouts shaking the clouds themselves.

Nearby monsters scattered in terror as the dark tide of the Liyue army began to march north.

Meanwhile, in Chenyu Valley, a dozen gods had gathered.

Around them, countless monsters and mortals had been conscripted into a makeshift army.

From afar, they could already hear the thunderous chants of the Millelith approaching.

Fear gripped the hearts of both men and beasts.

The fame of the Millelith was well known—

to them, slaughtering monsters was as easy as harvesting grass.

How could such a rabble stand against those who felled demon tribes with ease?

Yet under the crushing pressure of the gods behind them,

none dared flee—doing so would mean instant death.

Even the gods among them wore grim expressions.

They might have numbers,

but did they see who stood on the other side?

Each of those leading the Liyue host was a top-tier god—

ones who could face five or ten divine opponents without faltering.

They knew this battle might end in their annihilation—

yet they had no choice but to fight.
