Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: The Invisible Man

The Hollywood film set was alive with activity. Towering lights blazed overhead, and massive cameras were trained on a figure that seemed to have appeared out of thin air.

That figure was Alex Hassell—the Invisible Man, a superhero gifted with the power of invisibility. Wearing a specially designed stealth suit, his body appeared to vanish completely, leaving behind only a faint, shimmering outline.

The set was constructed to resemble a bustling city street. Three-dimensional projections of skyscrapers reflected a near-perfect illusion of the real world. Standing at a street corner, Alex seemed to slowly emerge from nothingness, the camera capturing the mystery flawlessly.

Prop designers and set artists had meticulously recreated an urban landscape. Under the director's command, background actors rushed through the streets, making the city feel alive and breathing.

Outside the filming area, Peter Parker and Ned stood excitedly, their eyes fixed on the set. Both had been invited by the Invisible Man to make brief cameo appearances, and both had become his fans. Watching him film in person felt like a dream come true.

"Wow—look at that!"Peter's usual shyness vanished as he pointed toward the set, unable to hide his excitement.

"That's insane! I wish I had invisibility powers," Ned said, eyes sparkling with admiration. His mind drifted toward mischievous fantasies, and he grinned foolishly.

Nearby, a few young onlookers chatted excitedly. The Invisible Man had captured everyone's attention. To achieve a convincing invisibility effect, the crew employed complex lighting and green-screen technology. Colored lights flickered around Alex, outlining his movements and enhancing his striking presence.

Under the director's guidance, Alex performed in a "fully invisible" state. His fingers moved silently through empty air, and a CGI figure slowly materialized from his touch—as if he were projecting himself piece by piece.

Peter and Ned stared in awe, witnessing a perfect fusion of technology and fantasy. They were so absorbed they nearly forgot to breathe.

The gunfight scene reached its climax. Alex stood atop a virtual rooftop, his body gradually revealing itself, as if mist were slowly dispersing. His gaze fixed on the horizon—like a lone guardian watching over the city.

"Cut!"

The set fell silent for a split second before erupting into thunderous applause. Crew members hugged one another—the scene was a success.

Peter and Ned clapped enthusiastically, faces glowing with admiration.

"So, guys—how was it?" Alex asked, walking over.

"Amazing! Absolutely amazing!" Ned replied instantly.

"I loved it," Peter said with a sincere smile.

"As long as you enjoyed it," Alex replied with a polished, professional grin.

BOOM!

A sudden explosion shattered the moment.

A security guard was hurled onto the set as if struck by an invisible force, crashing hard onto the ground.

Alex's expression sharpened instantly. He clenched his fists as the atmosphere grew tense.

A wave of scorching heat surged forward. Flames spread rapidly across the set.

"Desperation Warriors!" Ned shouted in shock.

Peter's eyes locked onto the shadowy figures advancing through the fire, weapons glinting in the flames.

"Run!" Alex shouted, attempting to retreat—but a blast of intense fire forced him back.

The Desperation Warriors, bodies radiating heat, opened fire and deliberately destroyed the set. Their target was clear: the Invisible Man.

Alex vanished once more, slipping into invisibility. He attempted to locate their weaknesses—but these enemies were far from ordinary. Their weapons emitted extreme heat and were equipped with thermal imaging.

Though Peter and Ned had no powers, they refused to stand idle. They took cover, trying to help however they could. Ned frantically dialed 911.

Alex moved like the wind, weaving between flames and enemies with deadly precision. He appeared without warning, struck, then vanished again—making him impossible to track.

The warriors were highly trained. They used heat to disrupt his invisibility, forcing him into visibility—but Alex continued to evade their attacks.

The set descended into chaos. Fire raged, gunshots echoed, equipment burned. Alex flickered in and out of sight, drawing enemy fire and breaking their formation.

Then—

"Damn it… you forced my hand."

Something inside Alex shifted. The virus within him went berserk.

His body changed.

Muscles hardened. His eyes sharpened with lethal intent.

In a blur, he appeared beside one warrior and slammed a fist into the man's face. The impact was brutal—sending the warrior flying into a building facade, punching a massive hole through it.

Another warrior opened fire, unleashing a torrent of flames.

Alex didn't dodge.

He charged straight through the inferno—like a ghost born of fire—landing devastating blows. Each punch exploded with volcanic force, tearing through heat and air alike.

His speed was overwhelming. His fists traced blinding arcs of light. The warriors' weapons became meaningless.

They tried to regroup.

They failed.

One by one, Alex dismantled them—shattering armor, crushing bodies, striking with terrifying precision.

A high-energy beam sliced through the air and struck him.

"I don't spend my days at parties."

Alex twisted midair, caught the beam with his arms, and punched it back.

The beam slammed into the shooter's armor, shattering it instantly and burning deep into his chest.

The Invisible Man became a storm of violence—merciless, unstoppable.

Flames raged like hell itself, yet Alex stood fearless within them. Appearing and disappearing, he delivered a final warning: do not challenge him.

At last, the final warrior fell—his head crushed by a single blow.

Alex stood amid the burning wreckage, murderous intent radiating from him.

The heat faded. The flames died down.

Only ruins remained.

"So… it really is here," Alex murmured quietly."Why can't I ever live a peaceful life?"

His expression was weary—but the faint smile at his lips betrayed him.

"Ever since that attack…"He glanced toward Hawk Group and Umbrella Corporation, killing intent lingering in his eyes.
