Chapter 187 - Chapter 186: Guardian Expansion

Northern Club

At the center of the Northern Club, inside a lavish hall bar, a pale man sat alone, sipping red wine under dim lighting.

A middle-aged man approached, quietly taking the seat beside him.

He swirled the wine in his glass and said, "Don't go around sucking human blood recently. If Li Rui finds out, you'll be in trouble."

The pale man frowned, taking a large gulp of wine before muttering unhappily, "Didn't we always feed on ordinary humans before? Why is she meddling so much now?"

"You've seen her current strength," the middle-aged man replied, voice heavy with warning. "And you saw what happened to Frank, didn't you? That woman is ruthless—even toward her own kind."

He took another sip of wine, a faint tremor in his hand betraying the lingering fear from Li Rui's merciless punishment that night.

"But what's so good about extracted blood?" the pale man complained, slamming his glass down. "Can it really compare to fresh, warm blood?"

"I'm not here to listen to your whining," the middle-aged man said sharply. "I know you're still secretly feeding on humans, but that's forbidden now. You understand what I'm saying, right?"

The pale man waved his hand dismissively. "Alright, alright, I get it!"

After the middle-aged man left, the pale man sneered coldly to himself.

How could I just let go of my prey like that? If I can't drink her blood… then I'll make her my servant. That way, no one can say anything. Oh… and she has a little sister too, doesn't she? Heh…

In the Apartment

Song Jie had just finished a round of control practice. Feeling a bit thirsty, he walked out of his bedroom and headed for the refrigerator.

Ai Tutu was about to come downstairs but froze when she saw him. Without a word, she turned and hurried back to her room.

Song Jie blinked, confused. He didn't know what he'd done wrong this time.

"Did I say something too harsh that day?" he wondered to himself.

He shook his head, grabbed a bottle of water, and decided not to dwell on it.

Back in his room, he picked up his phone and called Li Rui.

"Ma—Song Jie," Li Rui's soft, melodic voice came through the line.

"Have your bloodline members been quiet lately?" Song Jie asked.

Li Rui replied calmly, "Yes. I've already followed your orders. None of them are allowed to feed on human blood. They only drink extracted blood now."

Song Jie nodded approvingly. "That's good. If anything unusual happens, tell me immediately."

"Understood."

After a short pause, Song Jie asked curiously, "Do you vampires… ever change your teeth?"

"Huh?!" Li Rui was stunned by the strange question. She had no idea what he meant.

Song Jie continued seriously, "I mean—do you have any spare blood fangs lying around?"

Now understanding, Li Rui hesitated. "I once killed a rogue vampire, but his body was completely destroyed. His blood fangs should be gone…"

Song Jie sighed in disappointment. "That's unfortunate."

He then asked, "Do you have someone named Nie Dong in your bloodline?"

Li Rui thought for a moment before replying, "Yes, there is. Why?"

"Keep an eye on him. If he does anything suspicious, report it to me immediately."

"Understood."

"By the way," Song Jie added, "do you still have some of my blood left? If not, I can send more."

"I still have enough," Li Rui said softly. "I'll ask you for more when I run out."

"Alright then," Song Jie said with a faint smile before hanging up.

A Few Days Later

Song Jie arrived at the office and found Dean Xiao.

Dean Xiao looked up from his desk. "Song Jie, is something the matter?"

"Dean Xiao, I'd like to transfer to another Element," Song Jie said with a smile.

He had realized he knew too little about the Chaos Element. Instead of fumbling through on his own, he decided to study it properly through formal instruction.

Dean Xiao's eyes brightened with interest. "Oh? What's your third Element?"

"Chaos Element."

"Chaos Element?" Dean Xiao's eyes widened in surprise. "How far have you cultivated it?"

"I haven't managed to cast any spells yet," Song Jie replied calmly.

He said this intentionally—he had noticed the curiosity in Dean Xiao's gaze.

Clearly, the Dean wanted to see what kind of mutation Song Jie's Chaos Element might produce. But since it hadn't transformed yet, it was better to downplay it for now.

Dean Xiao nodded, not showing disappointment. "Alright. Go directly to the head of the Chaos Element Department. I'll inform him myself."

"Got it," Song Jie said.

"By the way," Dean Xiao added with a smile, "your Light Element and Summoning Element are both at the Advanced Level, right?"

"Both are at Advanced Level. I'm still refining my control over star dust," Song Jie confirmed.

Dean Xiao's face lit up with pride. "Excellent! If you join the World College Tournament, I'm certain you'll achieve outstanding results!"

He couldn't help but feel gratified—this generation finally had a true prodigy capable of representing Pearl Institute's honor.

"If there's nothing else, I'll head to my Chaos Element class," Song Jie said before leaving the office.

Later That Week

Song Jie immersed himself in Chaos Element studies. He enjoyed every moment of it—and before long, he had already claimed the top spot in the department.

Having already been ranked first in both the Light and Summoning Elements, it wasn't long before the same happened here.

His dominance across three departments caused a considerable stir throughout Pearl Institute.

That evening, back at the rental house, Ai Tutu saw Song Jie return. This time, she didn't turn and run upstairs.

Song Jie gave her a teasing look. "Oh? Not hiding from me anymore?"

"Who's hiding from you?" Ai Tutu shot back defiantly.

Song Jie just shrugged and walked past her toward the refrigerator. He'd been completely engrossed in Chaos Element studies lately, almost to the point of obsession.

Ai Tutu frowned. His nonchalance annoyed her.

She had been secretly studying—watching all sorts of embarrassing material—to catch up after his earlier teasing about her lack of knowledge!

Song Jie noticed her strange expression and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Hmph! Nothing!" Ai Tutu turned away, cheeks pink.

"Why are you angry again? I didn't even say anything," Song Jie said with a smirk. "Honestly, I should give you a bad review."

"I… I didn't know before…" Ai Tutu stammered, her face turning bright red.

"Hopeless. Definitely a bad review," Song Jie said playfully as he headed for his room.

Ai Tutu glared at his retreating back, fists clenched tightly. That infuriating jerk!

"You just wait!" she puffed up her cheeks in frustration. "I'll make you take that back!"

The Next Morning

As dawn broke, Song Jie slowly woke up to the familiar sound of the system notification ringing in his mind.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host! Light Blessing · Mental Guardian has undergone an incredible transformation—evolving into Light Blessing · Guardian Expansion!"

Song Jie quickly activated the new skill and immediately understood its effect.

Just as the name implied, Light Blessing · Guardian Expansion significantly widened the protective range of his Light Blessing, allowing it to shield multiple people at once!

This was the result of four miraculous evolutions, and its defensive power was astonishing—it could now fully withstand a Super-Level, First-Tier magic attack!

It had become a large-area defensive spell of formidable strength.

Just then, his phone rang. Seeing Li Rui's name on the screen, Song Jie answered, slightly puzzled.
