Chapter 69 - Crushes and Questions

Kelly's POV

I have always believed storms were emotional creatures.

Not the weather events or scientific phenomena. Storms were moody, dramatic, overgrown toddlers throwing tantrums in the sky, and Mondrovia, bless its unpredictable soul, had never learned how to use its indoor voice because it's always stormy. Thankfully, the skies are clear tonight.

So naturally, as I stepped off the transport craft and into the Kael private air dock, lightning split the clouds like the universe slashing a warning sign across the sky just for me.

"Welcome home, Kelly," I murmured to myself.

I tucked my backpack closer to my chest, yes, backpack, because I refused to let Adrian buy me one of those absurd luxury cases and hurried toward the estate's entrance tunnel.
