Chapter 12 - Bai Xue Ling (Part 1)

Even though Lin Wuyue still had her doubts, she quickly grasped the most important part.

"You said your master managed to ascend to divinity and was just about to ascend fully, didn't you?"

Aside from me, the only one who ever broke the mortal shackles was that man from the Feng Clan… and that happened millions upon millions of years ago. And you're saying a strange liquid damaged the cultivation of a god on the verge of ascension? That makes no sense. A god cannot truly die… then that means—

Before the serpent could answer her previous question, Lin Wuyue suddenly asked another, one that left it completely frozen.

"Your master is sealed inside this ring, isn't he?"

"You… how did you know?" the serpent asked in shock.

"Oh, I guessed," Lin Wuyue replied casually.

I knew it… A god's body may disappear, but the soul is always immortal. If his soul was sealed inside the ring on my finger, then he must be full of resentment. If it were me, I wouldn't have ascended to the Ninth Heaven either, Lin Wuyue thought calmly.

Both of them fell silent for a moment, each lost in their own thoughts.

"What is your master's name?" Lin Wuyue suddenly asked.

The serpent let out a long sigh.

"My master's name is Bai Xue Ling."

The moment she heard that name, Lin Wuyue's entire body trembled. She began coughing violently, startling both Linyuan and Feng Wu.

"Xia Yue! What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Feng Wu asked anxiously. He had been walking calmly with her in his arms when her body suddenly started shaking and coughing uncontrollably. It nearly scared him to death.

Lin Wuyue waved her hands clumsily.

"Big Brother, don't worry. Xia Yue is fine… I just choked on my saliva."

"Pff, you choked on your saliva? Why are you so silly?" Feng Wu laughed.

Seeing that she was fine, Linyuan also relaxed, but he frowned and said to Feng Wu,

"Put her down. Carrying her like that will only make it worse."

Feng Wu felt slightly offended and was about to argue, but Lin Wuyue nodded repeatedly.

"Big Brother Wu, maybe that's why. I don't want to scare my brother again. I'll be fine if you put me down."

After saying that, she quickly climbed out of his arms. Feng Wu reluctantly let her go.

"If you get tired, tell me. I'll carry you again," he said.

Lin Wuyue simply nodded.

Of course, her coughing fit had nothing to do with being carried. It was entirely because of the name the serpent had spoken.

As they walked, Lin Wuyue bombarded the serpent with questions, almost dizzying it.

"Bai Xue Ling? Master Xue Ling? He's famous in all the ancient history records! He's revered as a god. Even after his disappearance, the entire world believed he had ascended. Are you telling me that the legendary God of Medicine is inside the ring you gave me? Not only was he a miraculous physician, he was also a supreme martial artist! I want to meet him!"

The serpent felt slightly overwhelmed by the flood of questions, but seeing how excited she was about its master put it in a good mood.

Someone admired its master just as much as it did.

It answered patiently.

"Yes. My master, Bai Xue Ling, is inside the ring. You're correct—he was known as the God of Medicine and was also the number one martial artist of his era. He ascended to divinity at the age of twenty-five. As for meeting him… silly girl, do you even have spiritual energy? You need to be at least a level five Spiritual Warrior. How do you plan to achieve that?"

As she walked, Lin Wuyue rolled the ring on her finger.

He's right, but he's wrong about one thing. With this body born from a divine plant and my reincarnated soul, absorbing spiritual energy in this forest will be effortless. Advancing to Spiritual Warrior will be as easy as breathing. I don't even need that liquid.

Thinking of the resurrection liquid, she glanced up at Feng Wu and Linyuan with a strange look.

Feng Wu didn't notice, but Linyuan did. He raised an eyebrow slightly, silently questioning her. Lin Wuyue shook her head and looked down.

"I will cultivate tonight," Lin Wuyue said to the serpent. "I'll need your help. Please help me."

The serpent was surprised that she wanted to cultivate that very night, but it understood.

"Although I can't leave the ring space right now, you don't need to worry. If you cultivate inside a cave, the protection of nature will shield you. Those brats will definitely stop to rest soon—there are many caves nearby, and there are no wild beasts in this area. I'll help you find one. Once you enter the ring, you can continue cultivating there. The natural protection will remain, and although the energy won't enter your dantian immediately, it will stay dormant, like eggs, ready to be absorbed when you need it."

Lin Wuyue smiled and nodded.

It didn't take long before Linyuan and Feng Wu found a cave to rest in. Night had already fallen, and they had no intention of continuing. They didn't want to put Lin Wuyue in danger again.

"We'll rest here and leave at dawn. I'll go hunt some rabbits and—"

Linyuan stopped mid-sentence and looked at Lin Wuyue.

"Don't leave Feng Wu's sight. If something happens to you, we won't know what to do. Don't wander off."

With that, he turned and left.

Lin Wuyue smiled, but her heart didn't warm at all.

She knew they were doing this for her sake. She was grateful—but it wasn't affection.

One day, she would repay them.

Of that, she was certain.
