Chapter 27 - Trainee

"Nothing... Personal... Yeah?"

Rion's words echoed like a statement not of ridicule but of power, and everyone present there could feel it.

He hadn't given up even after getting his face busted by Tarun's relentless fist, and that proved his will.

But unbeknownst to all, the more Tarun punched him, the more he improved due to his enhanced adaptability.

Humans were best known for their ability to adapt to anything.

Now, what do you think would happen when you continuously punch a human with God King bloodline and an immortal body?

It's simple, really. Rion's body had begun to adapt to his attacks in an instant, and because of the Immortal body, all the attacks were not only injuring him, they were also healing him — Making it a perfect scenario for him to improve with no bounds.

Rion looked at Tarun with an impossibly wide grin and thought, 'It hurts a lot... but why does it feel so good and... fresh?'

He wasn't new to pain; instead, they had been in a long, bittersweet relationship. It had been his companion for most of his past life, after all.

They could even be declared husband and wife... But this pain... this one was different.

It wasn't similar to that lifeless ache of his past life.

Nor was it the sharp stings that scraped at him after the training with Haria.

No... this pain was different. It had warmth, it had life. It didn't drain him; instead, it revitalised him.

Tarun looked at him with a furious expression and lifted his fist to punch him, but before he could do so, Rion pulled off his necklace that had a sharp wolf fang and headbutted him.

Dhhk!

"Agh!" Tarun's vision spun. He saw stars for a moment before he came back to his bearings and threw a punch beneath him; however, all he struck was warm sand.

Rion stood behind him with blood dripping down his chin, his eyes turned red for a moment, and he memorised all of Tarun's weak points in that single moment.

'He is better than others...' he thought before he punched the back of his head with all his strength.

Bam!

"Ugh?!" Tarun let out a groan and slid away from the spot. He turned around and looked at Rion with fury burning in his sharp black eyes.

Rion locked his eyes with Tarun's and a wide, bestial grin split his face as he muttered, "Why so mad?"

Tarun's anger flared up; he snapped, "You bastard!"

Rion's grin crumbled, his eyes turned cold, and he mumbled, "What did you say?"

Tarun, who wasn't expecting him to react like this, just stared at him with a confused look.

"Did you... Did you just disrespect my parents?" Rion asked in a low voice, his tone as cold as the deepest level of the sea.

Upon hearing Rion's chilling words, Tarun felt a shiver run down his spine, and he unknowingly took a step back, only to frown upon what he had done.

"I stepped back?" He questioned himself in a low voice, a ridiculous expression on his face.

He lifted his head, looked at Rion, who was sitting at him with his ghastly blue eyes, and spat, "Yeah, I did. What about it?"

Rion didn't react and charged forward. Tarun raised an eyebrow at his recklessness and threw a kick, which Rion dodged just as it was about to touch him.

He didn't stop and continued to decrease the distance between them. At the same time, he began to dodge faster, and his movements began to become smoother.

Woosh! Swoosh!

Tarun continued to attack him. He punched, kicked and even tried to grab him, but everything proved fruitless as Rion dodged all of his attacks.

'What's going on? How is he getting better so fast?' Tarun thought dumbfoundedly and finally managed to hit Rion on the side.

Rion gritted his teeth but didn't let any sound escape him and reached just a step away from him.

"Know your damn place!" Tarun shouted and grabbed him in a bear hug.

A wide grin appeared on Tarun's face as he tightened his grip around Rion's short frame.

"Ugh!!" Rion let out a groan as he felt his body get crushed, and blood slipped from the corner of his lip.

He raised his head and looked into Tarun's eyes before muttering, "You shouldn't have said that."

Tarun's grin faltered, and he asked, "What are you talking about?"

Rion didn't reply and suddenly a sharp sting coursed through Tarun's right arm.

"Ahhh!" He let out a scream, and his grip lessened.

Rion freed his hand and swung his fist at him, but before he could hit him, someone grabbed his fist, and a calm voice reached his ears.

"That's enough," Marin said as he held onto Rion's wrist.

Tarun let go of him and stepped back before he grabbed his injured hand and fell to his knees.

Rion stared into Marin's eyes before he lowered his hand and mumbled, "All right."

He threw the sharp fang necklace that he was about to stab Tarun's eye with and walked towards Dora, who was standing within the crowd.

'He was ready to kill him...' Marin concluded before he clapped once and announced, "Everyone! Welcome your new friend... the first Dhaevrak to ever become a wolf at the mere age of eight, Trainee Rion Del Haden."

The crowd exploded into cheers and applause but Rion didn't care.

He climbed over the fence and walked towards Dora; the crowd parted before his steps.

Soon, his eyes fell on Dora, who had a worried expression, and asked, "How's my face? Handsome?"

She shook her head, grabbed his hand, and began to walk away from there with a furious expression on her face, "You didn't have to do this," she yelled in a sharp tone.

Rion looked at her with a smile and replied, "You know... I was waiting to say this... but you do know my hand is injured, right?"

She let go of his hand and replied in a flustered tone, "O-of course I know, I am not a dummy like you. Hmph!"
