A shrill alarm, like a sharp blade, instantly shattered the sense of control that had just been established in the command center.
It wasn't any of the invasion alarms they had rehearsed before.
The sound was sharper and more urgent.
"Boss!"
Lei Ling's figure appeared in the command center.
Her small face, usually brimming with the confidence of a genius, was now filled with annoyance and confusion.
"Damn it! The perimeter sonar and radar systems have no response! The regular defense network is as clean as if I personally formatted it!"
William frowned slightly.
They came so fast?
Lei Ling operated the control panel, bringing up a geological map of the island.
Red dots representing the invaders were displayed on it.
The genius engineer's pride was clearly severely provoked.
Her meticulously designed, layered physical defense system was like a fragile paper window in front of the enemy, directly ignored by them in a completely unreasonable way.
This was even more humiliating than being breached head-on.
Just then, the main screen flickered violently, automatically switching to the corridor of the biological laboratory in Zone A.
In the surveillance footage, the shadows at the junction of the cold floor and the white walls began to writhe and twist like living things.
Immediately after, several pitch-black figures, as if "squeezing" out of two-dimensional shadows, silently appeared in three-dimensional space.
They were dressed in traditional ninja night clothes, their movements as light as ghosts, landing without making the slightest sound.
Leading them was Murakami.
He didn't even look up at the surveillance camera flashing red above his head.
The goal of these uninvited guests was extremely clear; they rushed directly towards the isolated medical area where Elektra was located.
The laser-sensitive traps along the way were not triggered, and the automatic machine gun turrets hidden within the walls remained unresponsive.
In the sensors, there was nothing there.
"They're going after that woman!"
Jessica Jones dropped her phone and stood up, her expression grim.
"Tandy! Tyrone!"
William's calm voice rang out through the internal communication.
The next second, in front of the corridor that Murakami and his group had to pass through, light and shadow appeared simultaneously.
"Stop!"
Tandy Bowen shouted, pushing her hands forward.
Two Daggers made of pure light energy, like the dawn's first light, pierced directly at the two Shadow Ninjas at the very front.
Facing this sudden attack, the two Shadow Ninjas behind Murakami showed no surprise at all.
One of them bent his body backward in a way that defied human biomechanics, and the light blade grazed past his nose.
The other left an afterimage in place, his true self already appearing like a ghost at Tandy's side!
Too fast!
"Pfft!"
A faint sound of flesh being torn open was heard.
Tandy only felt a chill in her arm, and a line of blood had already spurted out.
The inconspicuous kunai in the Shadow Ninja's hand easily left a wound.
"Tandy!"
Tyrone Johnson's eyes were instantly filled with rage.
He almost instinctively activated his ability, his wide Cloak transforming into the deepest darkness, instantly engulfing the injured Tandy. The next second, the two had already appeared in a safe spot at the other end of the corridor.
Tyrone tried to use his dark power to lock onto those ninjas, but he was horrified to find that in his perception, there was nothing there; those ninjas seemed not to exist in this dimension.
Murakami, at the head of the group, ignored Cloak and Dagger, who had already teleported far away.
His gaze precisely locked onto the surveillance camera at the end of the corridor.
He knew the Master of this island was watching.
Murakami showed a sneer of extreme contempt on his face, not even making a sound, but merely mouthing silently:
"Your toys are too fragile."
This extremely insulting provocation made Jessica Jones clench her fists in the command center.
Lei Ling's face turned red with anger, wishing she could immediately activate the island's self-destruct program to take these bastards down with her.
As the main target of the provocation, William's expression was terrifyingly calm.
His heart had not the slightest ripple.
Toys?
Fragile?
Very good, this kind of self-righteous arrogance was exactly the most crucial part of his plan.
An employee was injured; this debt, of course, had to be recorded, and repaid with interest.
"Lei Ling."
William's voice broke the tense atmosphere in the control room.
"Boss?"
"Execute Plan B, switch the energy lines for Zone B."
"Give our guests that'special elevator'."
Lei Ling was startled at first, then immediately understood William's intention, and her angry expression was instantly replaced by a look mixed with excitement.
She nodded heavily, her fingers rapidly tapping on the control panel.
In the corridor, Murakami and his group no longer paid attention to the two "brats" who had lost their threat, and continued forward.
Soon, they arrived at the only passage to the underground isolation area—a heavy alloy elevator.
Murakami didn't hesitate, slicing open the elevator door with a single strike, and led his elite Shadow Ninjas in one after another.
In their eyes, this was just another door leading to their target.
"Buzz—"
The elevator door slowly closed, cutting off everything from the outside.
The internal indicator light showed a downward arrow, and everything seemed perfectly normal.
But one of the ninjas beside Murakami suddenly frowned.
He could feel that the elevator's descent speed... was too fast!
Moreover, this feeling of weightlessness far exceeded what should be expected for a descent to the first basement level!
"Boom!!!"
With a muffled roar, the elevator shook violently and stopped.
The elevator doors slowly opened to both sides with a grating metallic screech.
However, what greeted their eyes was not the high-tech medical isolation room they had expected.
Instead, it was a huge, empty space, reeking of blood and steel... a gladiator arena.
Dozens of huge searchlights on the surrounding walls simultaneously lit up, illuminating this vast underground space as if it were daytime.
Murakami's pupils contracted.
He had fallen into a meticulously designed trap.
At the other end of the arena, a figure so massive as to be despair-inducing was slowly rising from a huge alloy chair.
Abomination, Emil Blonsky.
He lowered his head, flexing his neck and wrists.
His rock-hard knuckles pressed against each other, emitting a series of hair-raising, crisp "crack-crack" sounds.
In his gray eyes, a long-suppressed, pure desire for battle burned.
He had been waiting for this "overtime" opportunity for a long time.
Just as Murakami and the others were on full alert, filled with doubt, the lights came on in an observation room above the arena, made of one-way bulletproof glass.
William Rodriguez's figure appeared behind the glass, holding a freshly brewed cup of coffee, a gentle smile on his face.
A loudspeaker transmitted his calm and unhurried voice clearly to every corner of the arena.
"Good evening, friends of The Hand."
"Welcome to our company's employee internal activity center. Your infiltration segment was very impressive, and I appreciate it. So, as a reward..."
William paused, the smile on his lips deepening.
"...The upcoming team-building session will be personally hosted by our star employee, Mr. Blonsky."
After speaking, William in the observation room put down his coffee cup.
He did not stay to watch the "team building" that was about to unfold.
He turned and walked away, heading towards Elektra's isolated medical room in Zone A.
At the same time, he pressed the communication button to another laboratory.
"Data collection has begun, Dr. Connors."
"Don't blink."
