"Professor, he's passed out..." Sajin Komamura looked up and was slightly stunned. He saw his professor casually wave a hand, knocking down the fleeing guard.
"He should be able to lead us to Tomoya Amanokado," Sora said, retracting his hand. He walked over to Tōsen and briefly checked his injuries. "No serious problems. He'll probably wake up soon."
The guard scrambled up from the ground again, a fawning smile on his face. "My lord... what is the meaning of this?"
The guard had never seen Katori Sora before and did not know who he was.
However, being someone Tomoya kept by his side, he was skilled at reading people. He didn't dare show the slightest disrespect to a Shinigami who could knock him down so easily.
"I am his professor. I heard that Tomoya Amanokado has some conflict with my disciple," Sora said gently. "I came this time to resolve their conflict. You must be Tomoya Amanokado's guard, right? Can you take us to see him?"
The guard was actually reluctant to lead them there. If they were looking for trouble with Tomoya, he would surely be in for it after the matter was settled.
But the current situation did not allow him to refuse. He could only agree. "O-of course..."
"Why were you chasing this person?" Komamura demanded.
Komamura suspected that this blind man, like himself, was being hunted by Tomoya's men for stopping him from doing something dirty.
"He angered Lord Amanokado..." The guard's mind raced, trying to embellish his and Tomoya's actions. "This fellow was audacious enough to forcibly abduct one of Lord Amanokado's concubines!"
"Tomoya Amanokado's concubines are the ones he abducts!" Komamura rolled his eyes. "His infamous reputation has already spread throughout the Suzuka district!"
The sweating guard glanced at Katori Sora and said cautiously, "Those are just rumors... Lord Amanokado paid for all of his concubines!"
"The situation I encountered that time didn't look very voluntary," Komamura snorted coldly.
If it were just a matter of taking concubines, Komamura certainly wouldn't have interfered. But what he saw was Tomoya dragging a girl through the street who did not want to go with him.
"That was just Lord Amanokado flirting with his concubine..." the guard argued feebly.
"He's lying... cough cough..."
Tōsen, who had been briefly unconscious, woke up.
"Kakyō and I investigated clearly... Kameda abducts beautiful girls from all over and sells them to Tomoya Amanokado..." Tōsen struggled to his feet. "We asked Tomoya's servants. The fate of those girls is not good... they don't live long in his hands!"
"Which worthless slave dares to slander Lord Amanokado!" The guard tried to move forward to stop Tōsen from speaking further.
However, he was lifted into the air with one hand by Komamura.
"I advise you not to do anything unnecessary," Komamura said.
"It seems Tomoya Amanokado is in for some trouble. Harming commoners... not even the Amanokado family can protect him for that," Sora said. "Hurry and take us to see him."
...
Meanwhile.
Kakyō had taken advantage of the Kidō explosion to pull the girl into an abandoned stone house on the street.
The dust raised by the explosion made the girl cough involuntarily.
Hearing the cough, Kakyō immediately reached out to cover her mouth.
But the cough was still heard by Tomoya outside.
Kakyō and the girl leaned against the wall, listening to the approaching footsteps with extreme anxiety.
The stone house only had a door and windows on the side facing the street. Kakyō couldn't escape without alerting Tomoya.
"I have to ambush him when he comes in. I need to injure him to have a chance to escape," Kakyō decided on a plan.
Kakyō let go of the girl and carefully drew the Asauchi at her waist.
Bang—
Tomoya kicked the wooden door of the stone house open.
"How dare you hide a woman from me..." Before Tomoya could finish his sentence, he saw a flash of cold light.
Squish—
"Ahhhhh!!!"
Tomoya let out a scream like a dying pig.
As Tomoya was kicking the door, Kakyō had slashed his thigh with her sword.
"Ahhh—it's you!!!" Tomoya's eyes were wide with rage, furious to the extreme.
He had heard a young girl's cough and thought the family in this house was hiding a beautiful woman.
Tomoya's reputation was now so infamous that any woman who didn't want to be defiled by him tried to avoid him.
But what Tomoya never expected was—
The woman hiding here was that meddling Academy student and the concubine he had just bought.
Tomoya's leg was now injured, and his mobility was drastically reduced.
Kakyō wanted to immediately withdraw her blade and escape with the girl, but she found that her Asauchi was stuck on Tomoya's thigh bone and wouldn't come out for a moment.
"How dare you attack me when I wasn't prepared!!!" Tomoya drew his Zanpakutō and quickly slashed at Kakyō.
Kakyō could only let go of the hilt and roll on the ground to dodge his attack.
Tomoya's Zanpakutō struck the wooden door, shattering it to pieces.
"Cunning little brat!" Seeing the blood flowing more and more freely from his leg, Tomoya didn't bother to pursue her further. He pulled out the Asauchi and used a rudimentary Kaidō to stop the bleeding.
Tomoya was born into a high-ranking noble family and had studied with the clan's teachers for a few years in his youth. Although his skills were not refined, he knew a little bit of everything. Stopping bleeding with Kaidō was not a problem.
"Bakudō #4: Hainawa!" As Tomoya was treating his wound, Kakyō raised her hand and cast a Kidō.
A rope-like strand of light composed of spirit particles quickly bound Tomoya.
"Run!" Kakyō pulled the girl, trying to get past Tomoya and escape from the house.
"Don't even think about it!" Tomoya shouted. "Bakudō #9: Geki!"
Tomoya also cast a Bakudō. A red beam of light shot out and restrained Kakyō, thwarting her escape.
Tomoya tore off the light rope on his body. "Brat, you must be considered a genius among the students at the Academy!"
"To be able to use 'Hainawa' without an incantation while still a student..."
Tomoya's face flushed as he sneered, "It's truly exciting to be able to kill a genius like you!"
Just as Tomoya raised his Zanpakutō to strike Kakyō.
The girl beside them lunged forward, hugging Tomoya in an attempt to stop him from cutting down Kakyō.
"Run!"
"You're asking to die!"
Tomoya's blade changed direction and fell upon the girl.
Hot blood splashed onto Kakyō's face, dyeing her vision red.
Tomoya's maniacal laughter and the girl's screams intertwined.
The blood stained the birthmark on Kakyō's face red, making her look like a demon.
In that instant, she felt as if she had been detached from reality.
A barrier seemed to form between reality and her consciousness, making her head buzz.
The Asauchi that Tomoya had casually thrown on the ground had somehow returned to her hand.
"Pass judgment, Enma."
Kakyō's voice had lost its usual gentleness, replaced by a chilling coldness.
The Asauchi in her hand transformed into an ancient mirror.
Within the mirror sat a woman with two horns on her head.
The woman sat at a desk and opened a scroll that was laid upon it.
The ancient mirror instantly reflected Tomoya's image.
Immediately after, a black mist surged out of the mirror. The mist transformed into demons and rushed towards Tomoya.
Tomoya felt that the demons in the black mist looked very familiar. They looked exactly like the concubines he had tortured to death!
"What is this!" As a Shinigami, Tomoya naturally knew that after a spiritual body dies, it returns to spirit particles. It was impossible for them to become vengeful demons. This was just the manifestation of a Zanpakutō's ability.
"Hadō #4: Byakurai!" Tomoya raised his hand, and a beam of lightning shot towards the black mist.
However, the Byakurai passed right through the black mist as if it wasn't there.
The demons in the mist, completely unhindered, pounced on Tomoya.
"Ahhhhh!!!" After being entangled by these demons, Tomoya seemed to see something terrifying. An uncontrollable fear erupted in his heart, and he struggled madly.
Kakyō's Zanpakutō ability was a rare one that could attack the consciousness.
Tomoya was not a man of strong will, and his Spiritual Pressure wasn't high. He was completely unable to resist the demons' assault and his mind was quickly overwhelmed.
After the demons dispersed, Tomoya collapsed on the ground.
He was now incoherent, drool trickling from the corner of his mouth, babbling nonsense.
Kakyō ignored the delirious Tomoya and rushed to check on the girl's condition.
The girl had stopped breathing.
"In the end... I still couldn't save her..."
Kakyō blamed herself for her powerlessness. As if losing all her strength, she knelt before the girl and remained silent for a long time.
When Sora and the others followed the guard to the street, they couldn't find any sign of Tomoya.
But both Sora and the spiritually-sensitive Tōsen could sense Kakyō's Spiritual Pressure fluctuations.
Inside the stone house, they found the grieving Kakyō, the dead girl, and the unconscious Tomoya Amanokado.
"Kakyō!"
"Lord Amanokado!"
Tōsen and the guard cried out.
Kakyō came back to her senses. Her face paled when she saw the guard, but she soon saw Katori Sora and the others.
"Professor Katori?!"
Although Kakyō was not a student Katori Sora had taught, he was known by everyone at the Academy. No student would fail to recognize him.
Sora surveyed the scene and quickly understood the situation.
The conflict between Kakyō, Tōsen, and Tomoya was an unexpected development.
He had originally just come to find Tomoya to resolve the conflict between him and Komamura. He hadn't expected to run into Kakyō and Tōsen.
Tomoya's depravity also far exceeded what he had imagined. Sora decided not to resolve the conflict in the way he had originally planned.
Sora checked Tomoya's condition.
"My lord! What are you doing!!!" The guard watched Katori Sora's actions, utterly horrified.
Sora reached out and snapped Tomoya's neck.
The guard reacted quickly. Seeing that the situation was bad, he immediately bolted for the door.
But before he could take two steps, a bloody hole appeared in his chest.
The guard collapsed on the ground.
"Professor Katori, what are you..." Kakyō was very surprised by Sora's sudden actions.
"Leaving them alive would be troublesome," Sora said, retracting his fingers. "Although Tomoya was in the wrong, even if he were to be judged, the Amanokado family would not let you off easily."
"You will remember this: I witnessed Tomoya Amanokado harming a civilian and therefore killed both him and his servant," Sora said slowly.
"Professor Katori! How can we let you bear the burden of killing Tomoya!" Kakyō said anxiously.
"Say no more. You are a student of the Academy, and you did nothing wrong. As your professor, it is my duty to protect you!" Sora waved his hand dismissively.
"But... if you do this, the Amanokado family will retaliate against you too!" Kakyō was deeply moved but still didn't want her professor to face pressure from the Amanokado family.
"Don't worry. Tomoya was in the wrong first. The Amanokado family can't do anything to me," Sora said gently. "You are just an Academy student. you cannot withstand their retaliation."
Sora's actions made Komamura feel extremely proud. He puffed out his chest and said, "The Katori dojo does not fear the Amanokado! If they dare to blame our Professor, the disciples of the Katori Style will fight to the end!"
The silent Tōsen's heart was also in turmoil. He had wandered the Rukongai for so long, but this was the first time he had felt the weight of the word "professor."
This Academy professor was willing to bear the pressure from the Amanokado family for the safety of a student.
The Amanokado were a high-ranking noble family. Dealing with them was definitely not as simple as he made it sound!
"The Shin'ō Academy... I hope I have the chance to go there someday," Tōsen resolved in his heart. He too would enter the Academy to study.
"Alright, you two should go now. Student Kakyō, a student's duty is to train hard. Only with strength will you have the confidence to express yourself," Sora said with a light laugh.
Sora contacted Yoruichi Shihōin and asked her to help gather evidence of Tomoya's crimes, to solidify the case that he had been harming commoners.
After waiting for some time, Yoruichi arrived with several Onmitsukidō members.
"Professor, what should we do?" Yoruichi asked, glancing at the bodies on the ground.
"I need your help to collect evidence of Tomoya's crimes. I just had Sajin go out and ask around, and Tomoya's reputation in the Suzuka district is indeed terrible," Sora said.
"No problem. I'll take some people to his house and see if we can find any evidence," Yoruichi nodded.
Infiltration was what the Onmitsukidō did best.
Yoruichi and a few Onmitsukidō members snuck into Tomoya's home and, without alerting anyone, found his ledgers from the butler.
They recorded the amount of money spent on purchasing concubines. Most of these women had already been killed by Tomoya, and the few who remained were severely tormented.
