Chapter 226 - Chapter 226: The Depths of Muken

"The sealing formula is absorbing the disintegrated spirit particles," Saitō Seiko guessed. "Perhaps this is how the formula is maintained?"

Hell, like the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, was a place where everything was composed of spirit particles.

It was just that the spirit particles in Hell contained its unique aura.

Anything sucked into the vortex would be broken down into spirit particles by the sealing formula.

Any spell formula requires spirit particles for long-term maintenance, and this one sustained itself by absorbing these disintegrated particles.

Seiko told Katori Sora her theory, and he agreed it made a lot of sense.

"It seems that the vortex exists solely to maintain the sealing formula," Sora said.

After the sealing formula absorbed the spirit particles, there was a new development in Muken where Sora was located.

He discovered that Hell's spirit particles were drifting out from the depths of Muken.

The runes on the "Voice from Hell" in his hand glowed brighter and brighter, indicating the detection of these particles.

"I've found something on my end, too... Hell's spirit particles are wafting out from the depths of Muken," Sora told Seiko through the large shell.

Muken was indeed connected to Hell!

Based on this situation, Muken must be connected to the seal within the Hell's Eye vortex.

Sora wanted to enter the depths of Muken to investigate, but as an "innocent" person, he was blocked by an invisible force.

Sora tried to cover the area in front of him with his shadow space, to see if he could use its properties to pass through this invisible force.

The shadow space extended forward without being obstructed.

Sora was delighted. He stepped across the barrier from within the shadow space.

He walked forward a bit and found that the runes on the "Voice from Hell" were glowing even more brightly, which meant the concentration of Hell's spirit particles was higher here.

"How did you get locked in here too?!"

A somewhat familiar voice came from behind him.

Sora turned around and saw Saitō Furōfushi.

She was wearing restraints that suppressed her Spiritual Pressure, which was why Sora hadn't sensed she was nearby.

Saitō Furōfushi's face was full of dismay. She had been locked in Muken for so long and had finally found someone who could bring her things.

But now, not long after, Katori Sora had been locked in as well.

Only the guilty could enter the depths of Muken. This guilt was not just an empty word.

Criminals sentenced to Muken have a Kidō spell cast on them, branding them as "guilty."

A sinner who has been hit with this spell can enter the depths of Muken but can never leave.

Now that Saitō Furōfushi saw Katori Sora in the depths of Muken, she naturally assumed he had also been sentenced to the same punishment.

"So it's you, Saitō-san," Sora said, scratching his head. "I haven't been locked in. It just seems the restraints of Muken don't limit me."

"You weren't locked in?" Saitō Furōfushi's spirits lifted, her dismay vanishing. "That's right... you were able to enter the Great Central Underground Prison, which means you have the ability to pass through spirit particle barriers. But I still underestimated you. You can even pass through Muken's."

"So, did you come to visit me?" Furōfushi's face was full of expectation.

Her agreement with Sora was for him to bring her things once a year. Although it hadn't been long since his last delivery, she had already finished all the snacks and wine he brought.

"I came here to verify some things..." Sora took some time to explain his and Seiko's test to her.

"So you didn't come to see me..." Saitō Furōfushi was slightly disappointed.

"Although I didn't come specifically to see you, I did prepare some things for you," Sora said, tossing her a spirit particle pocket.

The things Furōfushi wanted were all food and drink, so bringing them didn't cost much. Knowing he was coming to Muken, Sora didn't mind bringing her some things.

"That's great!" Furōfushi was overjoyed. "Thank you, Katori-kun!"

"It was nothing," Sora said with a light laugh. "I still have to continue exploring the secrets of Muken."

"Then I'll go with you," Furōfushi said, indicating she was also a bit curious.

The two continued forward. After walking for some distance, they could even perceive the dense Hell spirit particles with their spiritual sense.

"I've walked in here before and never noticed Hell's spirit particles..." Saitō Furōfushi felt it was strange.

"This is probably a cyclical event. We can only observe the particles here when the seal in the Hell's Eye vortex is absorbing them," Sora guessed.

"That makes sense. There's nothing in here, so I stopped exploring after a few times," Furōfushi said thoughtfully. "Perhaps the seal wasn't active when I came this way before."

A moment later, they found themselves blocked by an invisible barrier.

"This is the end of Muken," Saitō Furōfushi said. "But now it seems this is just the end of where I can go..."

They saw that dense Hell spirit particles were pouring out from beyond the "end of Muken."

Sora used the same trick again, using his shadow space to take Furōfushi through the barrier.

"Is this the ability you use to pass through barriers? It's really useful!" Furōfushi was very surprised that Sora could pass through the invisible barrier so easily.

"Doesn't that mean you can use this ability to get me out of Muken!" Furōfushi quickly dismissed her own thought. "No... the Tsunayashiro clan is still out there. Taking me out would only implicate you."

Saitō Furōfushi and the Tsunayashiro clan were mortal enemies. There was no room for reconciliation between them. As long as the Tsunayashiro were a great noble family of the Soul Society, it was almost impossible for her to be released from Muken alive.

After passing through the invisible barrier with the shadow space, the two arrived before a ball of light composed of a dense array of spell formulas.

They couldn't see this ball of light before passing through the barrier.

This light cluster looked somewhat similar to the sealing formula Saitō Seiko had described, but this was not the dark space inside Hell's Eye, and there was no eye sealed within this ball of light.

The dense Hell spirit particles here were emanating from inside the light cluster.

The spell formulas within the light cluster were too complex. After looking at them for a few moments, Sora felt that this was not something he could decipher.

He began to observe the other things in this space.

Beneath the ball of light was a pedestal, and connected to it were countless veins composed of blue spirit particles.

The sheer amount of spirit particles contained within these veins was an eye-opening sight even for Sora.
